Can we finally admit this? jRPGs are literally just turn based strategy games with dumb hair, no roleplaying, no choice and consequence.

Atleast wRPGs are ambitious, for all their flaws.
Even Fallout 4 is a masterpiece compared to japanese trash

See, if he was good at baiting, he would have picked the most widely acclaimed games on there (CT, FFT, Earthbound, Xenogears) and said that THOSE were good, but the genre was OVERALL terrible. That way he'd get the rage of all the fans of every other game on the list, and he'd get to continue his shitty thread.

I've been saying that ever since I was introduced to JRPGs with Final Fantasy VII. They're not RPGs as we know them, rather the RPG in JRPG only refers to mechanics with a ton of customization like gearing and leveling. Plus a ton of them have pseudo-exploration in a pseudo-open world.
Now that every single game of every single genre has those same "RPG elements" in them though, it means even less. BioShock is more of an RPG than FFVII.

All of these have combat you could fall asleep too and still win, they have great production values or interesting plots but I wouldn't call them good games by any means.

Yet is ruined by adding stats and grinding to the formula.
The combat feels good but it's at odds with most of the RPG structure that the game uses.

People always want to attack JRPGs for not having real roleplaying yet they turn a blind eye to Wizardry, the Gold Box games, or any other DRPG. Will you CRPG fans just admit you don't like JRPGs because of how they look, it has nothing to actually do with how the game plays, you just think its too anime or whatever.
