Mario World is guilty of turning Bowser into a joke villain

SMB3 World 8
>Tense as fuck
>Skulls and dead forests
>Incredibly intimidating music

SMW "Valley of Bowser"
>Retarded disco music
>Bowser's castle is a fucking night club
>No sense of dread

And thus the start of the joke villain we have today

Good. Bowser is one of my favorite video game villains. I'll never forget how much fun I had at the final 3D World boss fight against him.

>Went from generic villian to generic villian

At least his design is pretty unique.

SMW is one of those cases were they took a idea (The clown thing) and drove it into the ground.

I prefer both

He was pretty badass in N64

Btw evil clown theme is very 1990 and its perfectly fine

While still being colorful and more melancholic than intimidating, World 6 in Yoshi's Island still has the barren wasteland with dead trees, skulls, and undead enemies everywhere. I like this portrayal of Bowser's Kingdom best.

SMB3 had a bit of lava (And the RPG's when it actually shows his Castle) but as usual NSMB is to blame for officially starting the Volcano cliche.

You had better not be one of the people bitching about dabbing and yas queen being in video games right now.

nah he was a goofy fuck in 64

now in paper mario 64, he was not fucking around. The game starts by him killing mario and taking over the cosmic powers of the world

fuck off op this song fucks

>implying he wasn't always a joke villain and just playing the role of a serious one in SMB3

What kind of sperg do you have to be to give a shit about this?

>lair is in a giant skull in the water
>entrance is a ghost ship
>flying around in the dark sky with lightning

The entire reason Mario works aesthetically at all is the fact that the characters always play different roles. Bowser can be a goofy, lovable chump in one game, and an openly murderous dark lord who battles Mario to the death over a full orchestra the next game.

smb3 was canonically a stage play
bowser was merely pretending

yea you're right OP, super mario world set the worst timeline for bowser

>No sense of dread

Speak for yourself, I thought SMW's final world felt far more climactic than SMB3's. Especially with how you could get enticing previews of it by going through the pipes.

You are an adult and these are the important matters in your life OP, the decline of Bowser.

Paper Mario Bowser is goofy but still very competent, my one gripe is that it was the game to introduce Bowser's lame Cuck crush on Peach. N64 era Bowser in general is the best, it was before they went full cartoon with Mario so Boswers this monstrous, hunched badass who roars like a demon. I miss the slight edge Mario, Zelda, Pokemon and the like used to have.

I think SMRPG introduced the crush before PM considering the whole kissing thing, it was just downplayed relatively.

>dat funky bass note
