Unironically this. Galaxy 1 and 2 didnt feel like exploring a world, it felt like one of the neverending sunshine secret worlds and kept on going. Foresaking an actual level for a bunch of floating marbles really ruined the experience for me.

Not saying I agree with them though, I feel similarly to how you did. I had a lot of fun in Galaxy 1 and 2, but Sunshine-style reigns supreme.

I felt the same way. Galaxy level design didn't feel consistent at all. It never felt like it was the same universe as the mushroom kingdom, it just felt like random floating platforms with a Mario theme
