Just got to this place in Dark Souls 2 Scholar of the First Sin. Is it just me, or is it a bullshit difficulty spike?

It is but take them one at a time and you'll be fine.
Sprint towards archers. GL on smelter

I'm already past Smelter, it's the second part that's driving me crazy.

Use a bow to lure to you 1 at a time

Best place to farm xp

equip a mace and git gud

Best area of the game and best DLC.

You don't even need to fight Smelter.

Unequip everything and bumrush to the next bonfire. It's all you can do.

Just find the Aku Aku mask, and you'll breeze through it.

It's not a DLC area though.
I'm at the next Bonfire. Really convenient to have it placed at a slightly lower level which sidetracks you for another minute before you can continue progressing through the level. Great design choice!

What do you mean? Every bonfire rush in all of DaS2 is pretty much a straight line with some obstacles.

You know what I meant.

it sends you to a pvp area, better restart from the first bonfire and sprint back to the smelter one.

>Cuck Iron "King"
>Better than Based Ivory Chad

Which one you be wanting, soon to be kangs?

You can drop down from the level above bonfire without having to go through the midget area.

Besides, if youre already past all the knight samurai retardinos then whats the problem?

He's at the belfry bonfire.

How does one do this?

Boletaria of course.

Oh. So why not just teleport back to the previous bonfire? It's like a 10 second walk between them, assuming you beat Smelter.

I was being stupid user.

Kill the first knight
Kill the NPC invader
Open the giant door
Kill the knight who runs towards you
Wait for the second one to appear and kill him as well
Get the archer down and kill him
Get to the second room and kill the alonne knight before he jumps down
Wait for one alonne knight to appear
Rush to the bridge mechanism platform and wait for 3 alonne knights to appear separately
Get the bridge down
Go to the bridge
Kill the archer and another alonne knight kill the first one quickly before the second one arrives)
Shoot an arrow to the Alonne Captain and wait for him to shoot before you jump down the next platform
Rush straight to the Smelter Demon fog gate.
That area is easy as hell, people don't like it because they don't like methodic combat, i can make it trought this area in less than 2 minutes fighting a single guy every time.

Why were you being stupid?

Nice run down of the first part of Iron Keep. What about the second?
Forgot about the Smelter Demon bonfire.

Why did you forget about the Smelter Demon bonfire?

Its just tedious since you barely can outrun shit. There is a rythm for pulling stuff the most easy way.
Kill bridge, run up the stairs, kill boths, wait for the third to come up, kill him, jump down, kill pre bridge, wait, kill, run to lever, pull one more, run down to lever, kill one, run to bridge, kill two, jump attack, run left backstab go into fog or kill rest. Really annoying

it's awful enemy placement and some enemies unexpectedly charge you from across great distances. whenever you think you have a room area cleared there is usually one or two more ready to kill you

except it's iron keep and it's fucking shit just like this entire fucking garbage game

One of the funnest places in all of the Souls games to do pvp. PVP on the bridge at the start of the level is insanely fun, especially when it gets crazy and people start running and hiding on those lava rocks below the bridge.

It's broken to hell and back in SoTFS but there are some strategies

I feel like the issue people have with Dark Souls 2 locations is that they all feel like straight linear paths in one way or another. While Dark Souls 1 locations took place in like castles and buildings that stacked on top of each other and intertwined, and doors and elevaters connected to shortcuts. DS2 doesn't really have any of that . Dark Souls 2 feels like a flat surface, and youre running from one end of the map to another, and then the next level is the same thing.

I would actually agree. I love doing pvp in this area. Plus, this area always felt like the half way mark of the game too me. The difficulty increases

I had the same problem, but I just turned around and did some other areas and then this turned out to be pretty simple.

Really? I thought it was pretty smooth sailing from here.

There's a bonfire when going up a ladder in the caged rooms with flamethrower traps.

good areas

>forest of the fallen giants
>no man's wharf
>whatever the blue city was
>iron keep
>dragon shrine

the rest range from meh to being less enjoyable than my last bowel movement

All of the DLC areas are fucking amazing

forgot about dlc, but I only played poison dragon dlc. I liked the 'puzzliness' of the area

>No Mans Wharf

always loved pirate levels in videos. one of the reasons why I love DKC2 so much.

the sunken city is really weak tho.

>Dark Souls 2 feels like a flat surface, and youre running from one end of the map to another, and then the next level is the same thing.
Best example would be aldia's keep. It's one corridor with a few side-rooms and one secret bonfire.
There were some exceptions to the rule. The DLC for example with Iron Keep starting from the top and making your way to the bottom.
