Rainbowpill me on the Gog Galaxy client?
Is there ANY REASONS AT ALL why i shouldn't drop steam like a rancid turd and rebuild on gog?

Steam has a monopoly on a lot of newer titles, but GOG at least tries to make old games work properly on new computers.
Well, you can't "rebuild" on GOG. Retard.
Also, just torrent GOG games. Simple.
If you're comfortable with old and indie games then sure, you don't need Steam. Otherwise Gabe's fat rolls are the only place where you can find new titles on pc, enjoy monopoy.
Thankfully most new titles are complete dogshit. The only one in recent memory worth a damn was Nier Automata
You can buy (or torrent) all the previous owned games. Or just set it on fire and walk away. ;^)
You know that you can use Gog without Galaxy?
I'd use GOG fully but
>No Total War, not even the old ones
>Missing most big modern multiplayer games because they all use steamworks
>Ghost Recon 1 can be bought on GOG but not Desert Siege and Island Thunder
I love their service but Steam's got the monopoly.
I'm aware. I only use steam to manage online nonsense. I'm not concerned with using galaxy for single player games, though it would be nice to have it auto update or let me know when a DLC is available.
Will I get into trouble downloading it when I have a shitton of torrented gogpieces?
If I want a cracked game I will just pirate it instead of buying on GoG
This. GOG keys are basically worthless.
>redpill
>a matrix reference in 2017
what is this? 2002?
Indubitably
POST YOUR LIBRARIES LADS
Too large to fit in one screenshot
Market leadership =/= monopoly
More and more new indies and AAA games release on gog and that's a good thing.
Reminder we only got steam refunds after gog and origin started offering them
>GOG keys
we got it because the European Union law demanded it.
there is no such thing as gamer friendly.
Why fuck are titles on GOG written like this, The.
For now, at least. Fuckers began to bundle installers with their shitty client though, so it's only a matter of time before they say they final fuck you to non-Galaxy folks.
Last time I used GOG Galaxy it used an absurd amount of RAM and would randomly use way too much CPU for a background program. Did they fix this?
I assume so if you sort alphabetically you don't have a load in the "T" section because they all begin with The
>buy online game on GOG
>can't use steam servers now forced to GOG client
>there's no anti cheat system of any kind whats so ever
>everyone on GOG server system cheats in games
I recommend steam for multiplayer and to never use the GOG client. Only buy single player games on GOG.
The irony.
...
...
Mostly just M&M and Ultima.
I use gog because I refuse to use the steam client, using their client seems kind of counterintuitive/fuckingretarded
...
How do you play other games?
GOG is shit for multiplayer as there's less playerbase and no VAC or anti cheat of any kind.
Enjoy playing with cheaters all the time.
Also Galaxy has issues like memory leaks.
forgot their was a second page.
Full lists are boring so how about..
>First game you bought on GoG?
Sanitarium for me. Quite a different experience considering I last played it from a demo disc with borked sound drivers that warped the music made every character talk in slow motion
piracy, buy on gog later if i liked it and it comes to there
i don't like multiplayer games and i literally just said you're fucking retarded if you use the gog client, i guess the way i phrased it could imply i meant steam
You thing GOG will eventually catch up to Steam?
Divine Divinity.
GOG was doing a sale where they picked two games to compete against each other, and the one that got more votes by the end of the day went on sale next. And Divine Divinity's art style strongly reminded me of HoMM III, so I had to pick it up when it won.
No. They cater to two different markets the reason the client exist is to cater to multiplayer which they are shit at and steam excels at.
Hell no, their business practices are too pro-consumer and they actually vet the games that people try to sell there, so you don't get the huge glut of 'simulators' and deviantart visual novels.
So basically it's unattractive to big companies and even less attractive to indies, which is a shame.
So... It'll literally die out?
that's exactly the reason
This is how you spot the underage and the retarded. Don't you understand how archiving and the Dewey Decimal System works?
Like just fuckin end it you'll be a Mcdonalds jockie the rest of your life.
>SHOGO
holy shit i remember having this ancient ass paper pack with that game and a "Septerra Core" ages back. It was so broken and probably a bootleg disc. It was fun for welfare child me.
They cater to a different market base from Steam.
Dropping the client is more likely to happen.
>their business practices are too pro-consumer
lol
Nah, it has its niche and they seem to be expanding at a steady pace without overexerting themselves and failing.
sexy argument you got there
i for one prefer games to services :^)
...
SHOGO was great even if I only discovered it years later (which kind of helped as I understood the references)
Only mech game I know where you have an entire mission dedicated to stopping two random guards from getting some pussy.
also dat fucking intro!
youtube.com
Are you trying to defend steam using kike memes? Your brain is broken.
Not him but you can torrent literally everything on GOG for free.
same with steam, no reason to use it and torrents are the only way you'll actually own your game
GOG has been going back on their pro-consumer promises one by one for the past 5 or so years. Sometimes they fuck p too hard and have to damage control a bit, but usually they just introduce changes quietly and let them accumulate over the time. Like how they effectively killed off the downloader, introduced regional pricing, selling DLC, selling any fucking crap as long as as the publisher is big enough like portrait packs for $5, selling half-finished early access crap they said they'd never do, and so on and so forth.
They don't care about being pro-consumer, but they are restrained by the promises they've made in their early years. They will continue to slowly get rid of more and more of them though, don't you worry.
>mfw i bought the soul reaver ports on steam
I will never not be fucking angry.
I like that GoG have stuck with their DRM free policy when others (looking at you humble bundle) abandoned it.
I do miss the days though when every gog game came with a load of extras to add extra value even if it was only the OST and some random wallpapers
Too much work to fit it all into one image.
I'm just mad at GOG because some games have trouble getting on the service for no real reason like Battle Brothers, for example. It took a long time for it to get accepted.
You can de-select galaxy instalationin setup and the game will be perfectly fine. Or, if you are really autistic like me you can download "classic" installers without bundled galaxy.
The only real problem I had with with galaxy that it's fucking RAM hog and it's function of finding already installed gog games are complete fucking garbage
regional pricing tends to be the price you pay when you want to court shitheels like ea, ubisoft and bethesda, at least they have that store credit shit although i'd much rather just have one solid price over the platform
not sure about the other shit, the downloader works fine for me still
the early access stuff sucks but at least provides an easy to pirate version since early access games don't get scene releases
Galaxy client replaced the downloader, I can see the reason for it. It's basically a glorified download client with auto-updates and access to the library and store pages
Didn't they do some kind of credit scheme to give people in costlier regions their lost money back to spend elsewhere? Not perfect but better than them selling everything at a loss.
For DLC they are actually struggling to get the DLC available for GoG versions of the game.
I recall the Armello devs refused to release DLC for the GoG version stating that it was harder to release DLC on a DRM-free version (which sounded bullshit but I'm not a dev)
And how can you explain including the "optional" client in game installers because "oh, downloading it separately would be too much hassle for our customers" never mind that it increases size and becomes ludicrous when you want to make back ups and you have a copy of Galaxy for each and every one of them? Yes, it doesn't affect all of their games yet, but they are happily doing it with small and single-player games that have no online functions whatsoever already.
I print gog keys and wipe my ass with them
That's about as useful as gog gets
...
I work at amazon and I used to see people buy Obama toilet paper. Now of course it's Trump toilet paper.
My point being I know you're being funny but people actually do this.
...
Load of it is free shit I got.
>rebuild on gog
Kinda stupid to rebuy games desu. At least pirate gog versions of games you already have, but certainly, if you have the choice between Steam and gog, you'd be a FUCKING RETARD not to get the gog version.
Pretty much only get online games on Steam because you have no other choice.
...
Steam has stuff that GOG doesn't have and may never have because developers and especially japs have a huge boner for DRM even if it is minimal.
That said, I buy everything I can off GOG and only use Steam when given no alternative.
>blaming the Jews for your small penis
Does GoG allow games with nudity?
If so I'll look into it.
Must be missing a couple unsorted ones, but I guess that's pretty much all of it.
Are you retarded?
>Killed downloader
It simply exists as the Galaxy Client now. It really isn't a big deal and it's not even needed. You can download standalone installers for everything from the game to patches to bonus stuff at anytime.
>Regional pricing
Literally who cares. A developer has the right to sell for whatever price they want and you have the right not to buy it. It's not like they're selling water for ridiculous prices.
>DLC
Who cares? You don't have to buy it and there's literally nothing wrong with providing an option. If it's shit or the developer is being bullshit about it, don't buy it. It existing isn't some grand crime.
Literally everything you're complaining about is things you personally dislike and no things that are universally wrong or harm everyone. You sound like a giant faggot who's mad over nothing.
It is bullshit. Their only valid pint might be that it has to be coded to not expect DRM which just goes back to what it sounded like which is they want their stuff to have DRM.
Literally almost every "problem" devs state these days is a case of laziness and incompetence and not an actual barrier to making something happen.
>gog releases witcher hearthstone for their client
>steam starts to work on a hearthstone for their client
like pottery
The cloud saves that just got implemented are nice. Now my stardew valley saves are saved "forever" and I can play at work without using a thumb drive.
>paying to pirate games
its fine, just connect to steam for some free games.
Gog client let me play Nox with a friend online. If it could do that for other games I would say it's worth it.
Really? banning this post? is Sup Forums a sjw board now?
Descent 3 + Mercenary
Great games
I thought sacrifice was serious gods and magic rpg thing, then I find this in the GoG wallpapers.
I should really play it sometime
>rebuild
look at this retard
why not just torrent steam games
If you buy on GOG you support Polish subhuman retards. If you buy on Steam you support hard-working Americans. If you're not mentally ill you'll buy on Steam
(you)
This is unfortunately right. They have already introduced microtransactions to the store with Gwent. I just hope they don't betray their ideals completely at some point. Might as well stop buying video games altogether once that happens.
>buy Dragon's Dogma on GOG
>it can't connect online at all
>can't see other people pawns and shit
i asked for a refund, still waiting for them to answer
The pawns for GOG are separate. Don't know if that explains your problem. I never played DD.
i know what you mean but the game cant connect to the servers at all, look it the forums its not just me lots of people have the dame problem
their fix is "put the game in offline mode before starting" lamo
fuck GOG
You won't stay pure for long if you want to be a major player in the vidya business.
Fuck GOG, shitty Polish company
>DRM free
>open GOG Galaxy
>please enter your GOG account username and pass
they dont know what DRM free means
Most devs don't publish on GOG. There are no Nipponese on GOG for example.
>MY COLLECTION (668)
also, fuck NISA
How many japanese games does it need to "have japanese games" or what "no Nipponese" is supposed to mean?
You do realize you don't need to use Galaxy, right? If you do choose to use Galaxy, how do you propose that it connect to your GOG account without your username and password?
it has a growing library of nipponese games. the legend of heroes games are there and so are the neptunia ones
GOG is Polish, therefore shit
Galaxy is allright.
You can actually disable the overlay and all the social/achievement stuff. I just use Galaxy to auto update my library.
I've legit considered selling my $5k steam account. I just don't touch anything on it anymore, and the few games I do care about, I can get either through piracy, or rebuying on gog.
