It's still important to the industry. You can hide your head in the ground as much as you want, that doesn't change the fact that let's plays, twitch streams and other online video streaming of games are integral to the game industry now.

The difference between a 'lets watch' and a lets play, is that watching a movie is the main source of the entertainment, so a 'lets watch' of a movie would essentially be piracy. Games however are meant to be enjoyed via interacting with it, so a lets play channel doesn't give nearly the same experience. By your logic, if you make a vlog of yourself at Disney World, you shouldn't be allowed to upload it to Youtube, because it would be considered IP theft.
