>Nintendo has recently been busy with the release of projects such as Super Mario Run and Fire Emblem Heroes. And with their new console, the Nintendo Switch, releasing worldwide earlier this year, Nintendo has become busier than ever marketing and making games for the new console. This has caused the Animal Crossing mobile game, which was expected to be released in 2016, to be delayed. But according to the "Nintendo Earnings Report" published last January 31st, 2017, the game is now expected to be released sometime between Apr 2017 to Mar 2018.
So it's quite possible within the next direct or two an animal crossing mobile app will be announced and a high chance of them teasing animal crossing for the switch.
Dominic Gonzalez
I would also like to add that the Animal Crossing mobile app could have qr and trading features and be used with the Animal crossing switch game because the switch doesn't have a camera.

Nervously hyped. I feel like AC is a series that is perfectly suited to a mobile/microtransaction model and I'm worried about which direction they'll take it. If they just have it so you can earn things normally through daily play and random shop stock and then pay real money to order out of a catalogue and not deal with rng bullshit then it'd be fine. If nice furniture is actually completely locked behind a paywall and unable to be earned through regular gameplay it will be a very sad day. I also wonder about the potential for specific villagers to be locked behind gacha in the same way characters tend to be unlocked via gacha in most mobage.

>mobile app released >switch animal crossing released >data transfer from acnl to acs and acm Would justify the switch I'm buying. That's the sort of shit to convince me to get a Wii U 2.
Parker Garcia
It's a handheld, you should get one anyway.
Jonathan Lewis
Microtransactions would ruin animal crossing
Nicholas Allen
>expecting a mobile app to not have microtransactions
even most new PC games have them nowadays
Luis Hughes
Its a mobile game, the only reason to make one is to put microtransactions in it. AC is a game that could have profitable microtransactions in it without destroying the gameplay cycle the rest of the series has had though. As long as money is only usable as a shortcut and everything in the game can be unlocked through time and luck like every other entry in the series it will be fine.
Austin Watson
but do they balance the cost of things for a regular player or for someone using a credit card?
Sebastian Scott
They've confirmed it's not taking the mobage/microtransaction route like FeH
It's a one time, single purchase game. Think something along the lines of mario run.
Robert White
I think they said they're not going that route because of how bad Mario run did in terms of sales
Nathan Rodriguez
Where did they confirm it? If its a one time purchase its either going to be a companion app to a console title or its just going to be low budget trash.
Caleb Wood
I haven't seen any news on them backing out of that model, but I honestly hope they do. As mediocre as the mobage formula is it would at least work for something like animal crossing. There's no way a single-purchase one-time game of AC wouldn't be terrible. Mobages are shallow but they can at least be enjoyable as a simple timesink.
Benjamin Gray
I'd be happy with a port of GC Animal Crossing with online to be honest.
Juan Howard
nintendo doesn't do obviously good stuff like that
Caleb Taylor
Wouldn't that just eat into sales if they tried to release a new title?
Noah Allen
As good as that sounds, it'd be nice if they made a proper sequel.
Owen Ward
Not if the new title is really good. But probably. I just need something to tide me over.
I agree. I want those beautiful graphics they had for the Wii U thing... what a cock tease.
Carter Thompson
>beautiful graphics they had for the Wii U thing yeah, it's weird that they made all that art and then didn't use it for anything. Maybe Splatoon derailed a Wii U animal crossing game, since it's the same dev team.
Jose Jones
I guess it's kind of a good thing they pretty much rehashed splatoon 1 with splatoon 2.
I mean there's new modes and stuff but I'm sure they are working on something under the radar right now.
