I got PPSSPP working on my computer, but the rar file for Persona 2 has 60 files on it. It also keeps asking to create a folder in my appdata/temp folder. Is this safe?

Those are all 'part' files of the same file. When you extract it, it should be one thing.

Usenet has different sizes based on the group, and the scene has standards for different types of media (games/music/movies/etc.) that dictates what size parts they should be in. You probably don't know what parity files are for, either.

For scene releases, it's arbitrary. Similar to how there are standards for encoding/compression. For newsgroups, it may affect the propagation across servers and be optimized to reduce incomplete files but IDK. It's mainly due to scene rules.

Also, if people repack the same source files into split RARs with the same settings, they should be identical.
