Darkseed 1 and 2 have cool artstyles, but IMO the Alien franchise are a little to vague in the Giger themes.

I always got more of a Zdzisław Beksiński vibe from Scorn, myself.

I thought that too, shame, although weapon design seems very original to me.
On the plus side, they nailed the Giger/Beksinski-inspired visuals. On the downside, the gameplay looks shallow, slow, and unsatisfying. I was expecting a puzzle game with the occasional shooting, not a slow shooter with the occasional puzzle.
I'd rather this just be a walking simulator than play the subpar gameplay that they're showing me.
I also have a feeling that this is going to be short as fuck.

Yeah actually. It looks like it was inspired by Giger, and certain things look like they could have been done by him like that crazy spike arm glove console. However I do get more of a deadspace vibe from it, and the enemies remind me of the flood from halo except a bit more morbid.

Not really. There's a distinct lack of phallic/sexual imagery. The biomechanical shit was only part of Giger's style.

Hell, replace the gun with a melee weapon or a gun that morphs the environment or morphs the enemies or whatever. I've used a shotgun before, I don't care how many different coats of paint you put on it.
Yeah there is that bondage element to Giger that you really don't see here. Like the safety pins through the cheek, and the biomechanical stuff usually had the mechanical overtaking the biological and not the other way around.

Interesting that there seems to be more "bio-" and less "-mechanoid" themes, unlike in Giger's art.
Recently tried Dark Seed, gave up after I found out you can cuck yourself out of progressing without warning if you don't do everything exactly how and when you're supposed to do it.
Saw a playthrough of Dark Seed 2. Don't bother. It's some kinda "dark" comedy non-sequitur and the art came out like dogshit with goofy stretchy animations and low-poly 3D objects added. The design of the darkworld backgrounds and characters itself was still good though.
That's actually supposed to be Giger's first girlfriend, a depressed actress who killed herself in her mid 20s. She nearly destroyed that exact portrait because she hated it and Giger had to restore it. He's painted her in some of his other works as well, after her suicide.

No I think there is at least a fraction of people on Sup Forums who like Giger and/or Darkseed so the premise is interesting. I just don't think the game follows through with that. The color palate is way too bright for Giger.

Yeah definitely, I like the contrast between the detailed, jet black, grey Giger rooms and the moulded, filthy, flesh that's usually on the walls. Feels unnatural. Hoping this'll be good.

What bothers me, is guns, which gone full DOOM. If you go full biopunk, why not make guns spit venom spikes/have acid tongues or smth instead of boring pistol/shotgun. Just look at the 2006 Prey, there alien weaponry got nailed just right.
Yeah I'm gonna give it a try for sure. I haven't played a FPS in forever so even though the genre is kind of stale this definitely seems creative enough to pull my attention. If this world has good lore on top of this design I can see myself playing multiple games set here not just this.

I just hope it's going to mix it up a bit, if the game is 100% fucked up meaty shit it's going to lose it's horror factor pretty quickly as you get used to it. Silent Hill was so effective because it mixed the bloody nightmare world with the regular fog world all the time.
