Is it just me or is this game way more difficult than the original? In that one all you had to do was switch to missles, shoot the metroids enough times and you'd kill them. Now you have to keep track of the complex control scheme of parrying, free aim, and hold to shoot missles. It's kind of ridiculous. The only truly difficult part of the original game was the final boss, but with this one I can't even get past the second fucking metroid and I'm on my 15th try already. Why do modern games have to have so many unnecessary controls that only serve to make gameplay more frustrating?

Just you.

Git gud. It's really not that bad, once you get the flow of combat the game becomes pretty easy for a while. The zetas and omegas are pretty tough.

Ok, but it shouldn't be this difficult from the very beginning. Well designed games are supposed to have less steep difficulty curves where it starts to get more difficult as you progress deeper into the game, not in the first 15 minutes of gameplay.

Just get fucking good. It'll be easier once you get more upgrades.

It's not even my lack of weapons that's the problem, it's the retarded control scheme that makes you press two buttons at the same time just to shoot a missle, and 3 buttons at the same time to be able to aim in any direction. That's pretty fucking ridiculous.

>It's my first Metroid game

Which other 2d metroid makes you hold down multiple button combinations to aim and shoot?

I also only played the first 3 metroids because the rest are shit

How do you even compare the original Samus Returns with the 2017 release mechanics wise? You're trying to compare a fucking Game Boy game with a 3DS one.

That's like comparing a Benz Patent Motor Car with a Mercedes-Benz A-Class and asking which one is easier to drive.....

zero mission, fusion

???????

I'm saying the mechanics/controls of the original are way better and lend themselves to much more fun gameplay.

Like I said, only the first 3 metroids are worth playing, and this one is looking like that fact still holds true.

>only the first 3 metroids are worth playing
Imagine sincerely holding this opinion.

Nobody has had a problem with this but you

Are you actually insane?
How can you compare the gameplay of a Game Boy Metroid with that of a 3DS one?

Why arn't you comparing Samus Returns (2017) with Super Metroid or Fusion which are considered the pinnacle 2D Metroid franchise?

Do you literally have Metroid 2 and Samus Returns (2017) booted up right next to each other and actually think that the clunky, limited feel of the original is better than the remake?

You're fucking senile.

Its the hardest 2D metroid for sure
I think they allowed this because of the amiibo giving you extra stuff to survive

You are retarded then

It's to compensate for the aion abilities

Just about every Nintendo game has amiibo that gives you extra lives. None of them have become harder for it.

What the fuck am I even reading

I did compare it to Super Metroid as well. That game doesn't make you hold down multiple buttons to shoot a missile either. And this remake feels way more clunky than the original GB game with this convoluted control scheme. In that game you press select to switch between missile and beam and that was it. Straightforward controls that allow you to focus on the actual game rather than having to constantly fumble around with button combinations.

Metroid 1 and 2 are aged horseshit though. Super and Zero Mission are great, but so is the Prime series.

I cannot understand the babies who cry about Prime on this imageboard. It's practically 3D Super, with adjustments to work as an FPS. It's leagues better than all contemporary *great* FPS games too, like HL2.

It's because FPS is a shit genre.

There isn't a single post insulting prime that is genuine on Sup Forums. Never forget that.

>implying this is a bad thing

It's not "frustrating", just git gud. Jump to dodge, shoot their belly with missiles, and do the counter move if you hear the "THIS IS A COUNTERABLE ATTACK" noise that all the basic enemies have.

>tfw still can't find the last metroid in the third sector even with the indicator.

It's the one with the two fans that pull bombs towards them and also yellow slime on the walls that don't let you bomb jump to blow up the ceiling tiles if someone wants to help

You need the Spring Ball which is found in a room connected to the giant open room.

If you are actually struggling with the mechanics of this game you should seek mental help.

Metroid has is known for having tons of advanced techniques and sequence breaks. I've basically unlocked everything and I haven't encountered any mechanics more difficult to perform than the Wall Jumps or Shine Spark chains of Fusion.

>Is it just me or is this game way more difficult than the original?
It is and I'm loving it. I've died more times in Samus Returns alone than every other Metroid game combined.

I gave up on the game after 20 tries on the second metroid. Really wish you could return physical like you can on steam.

*physical games

That says a lot more about you than it does about the game.

Should I get this game? I never played a metroid game before. Only really use my 3ds for pokemon and some monster hunter

>R button starts fucking up
Made those last 2 bosses way harder than they should have been

Since you play Monster Hunter, an absolute yes.
