Divinity: Original Sin 2

Can we get an actual divinity discussion going?

>What class you playing
>What party line up
>origin or custom
>most importantly what instrument

I'm playing a dwarf metamorph
Friend is playing skeleton elf inquisitor
Both custom, both of us running lone wolf so don't plan to use other party members.
Tambura for best instrument

Is there some class/playstyle DOS 1 or any other game for that matter doesn't have?
I'd like to play something I can only play in this game, no sword and shield warrior or dickass thief.

I know magic with inflammable oil or shockable puddles is pretty unique for a cRPG but that was in DOS1 too.

I'm playing an undead geomancer/summoner for top poison faggotry and going lone wolf with the Red Prince but I think I should swap him for another magic user based on the new armor system.
Was metamorph in DOS1? That's certainly unique.

I've rerolled after a few hours with my custom skelly, his race ability was hot garbage and glass cannon is worthless with such a tiny AP pool.
Playing as the edgy elf slut now and picked lone wolf. So far fights go a LOT better because of the increased attributes, rolling with Ifan for now since he seems to be the most likable companion so far and is a good fit with his ranges abilities.

Metamorph seems really unique to me , but can be interrupted as a druid.
With turning individual parts on your body into animal parts, but end of the day its mostly for buffs to fight with your weapon of choice.

Otherwise you are correct it's mostly can be summed up as something another game has, like summoning magic etc. You can make a very unique mage since base class is just your starting abilities and switch it up from there though.
Probably having two people who attack same type is better, most of the inquistors abilities hit armor and metamorphs greatest spell of all time, turning the enemy into a chicken, hits armor so we work well. I'd imagine it'd just be unnecessary extra work to have two people hit different types of armor. It makes since cause you can both target weaker ones, but in this game is easier to focus on guy down then spread out, especially for just two people so likely best to hit the same type of armor.

>glass cannon is worthless
Really? It was god like in the first game.

In the first game you could increase your max AP though attribute points, not in this one.

>It was god like in the first game.
Not after patches and not in EE.
They nerfed it and Lone Wolf into the fucking ground making them worthless.

How do the story and lore fare compared to DOS1? If it's lolsorandumb magic like the first one, I'll pass.

>Not after patches and not in EE.

With the right attributes and gear you could regenearte your AP 100% every turn.
It was incredibly powerful even in EE.
I had like 16 AP on my dual wield rogue at all times, and it only took 2 for a attack.

How does it compare to Pillars of Eternity ? Is the gameplay good?

>EE
Are you kidding? I only ever played EE and it was amazing. Having at least two backline mages with EE was like playing the game on easy mode.

Compared to PoE a literal pile of shit is good.

That's the biggest difference. Gameplay is amazing, specifically the combat.

PoE's gameplay was extremely dull by comparison. Copypasted encounters galore.

anyone have a magnet link? Want to give this game a shot

One thing I liked about PoE was the huge spell repertoire every caster class had, you won't get that in DOS.
That said combat is more tactical, you have to pay more attention to your environment.
Spell combos(i.e. setting aflame a huge oil puddle burning enemies and igniting explosive barrels) can make you win with ease or fuck up your whole party.

Divinity: Original Sin 2 has a better combat system (RTwP is a meme) although Tactician sucks at the moment due to overly bloated stats.

As for everything else you'd expect in a RPG, Pillars of Eternity is obviously better and you knew that when you made that post, because you know this is gonna get into a gameplayfags VS storyfags situation.

Went with a custom rogue. Scoundrel/Pyrokinetic. Even at this early stage (just hit lvl 6), it is insanely powerful. The distance he can move for 0 AP cost is crazy. Couple that with the amount of damage that can be output in one turn means that he controls the battles right from the start. Some caster or archer way in the distance trying to fuck shit up? He doesn't give a shit. He's there already, removing the faggot.

Also
Red Prince = tank
Lohse = general casting and healer
Sebille = Archer

What is the point of aoe debuffs of necromancer if they need to pass through the physical armor first?
Who the fuck thought it's a good idea?

They're meant to work in tandem with your physical characters and summons. Do you not understand the concept of teamwork?

You are supposed to use your fighters to whittle down their physical armor, it's pretty obvious.

How do I git gud?

Funny thing is that i want do make enemies weaker for my melee characters to have an easier time with them, not the other way around.
It's also impossible to strip the armour from the entire group of enemies at once to make aoe debuffs useful.
Armor system is just bad. It should only prevent incapacitation and not general debuffs or damage over time.

Don't play hybrid characters because they suck.

Only at early levels late game they are great.

>although Tactician sucks at the moment due to overly bloated stats.

Is this true? I started off as tactician, am a few hours on the prison island most mobs pushed my shit in. Would do like 8-11 damage vs a group of crocs that would throw aoe turdballs that smacked my entire party for 25. Shitload of hp per croc too.

Thought I just had a terrible party comp

No, it really is terrible. Every single enemy character has a bunch of magic armor that needs to be destroyed like a fucking Enterprise ship. Not only that, but that magic armor blocks any and all status effects. There's not even any chance of getting them through. It's not just bad, it's incredibly tedious. Larian are awful.

See:

What's better?
Warfare/necromancy

Warfare/summon

...

I'm playing summon/geomancer and summoning has been fantastic so far. Your imps and turrets changing based on what element you summon them on gives you a ton of versatility. Necro deals damage to physical armor which may be good for complimenting your Warfare, but it's also problematic because it still scales off of INT. Make of that what you will

this fight is bullshit. Tell me that there's some riddle that I'm not picking up on.

>summon/geomancer
So be it.

Only one of them is real

Well what the shit? I used up my entire inventory trying to survive this attrition onslaught and they just keep coming.

Why are so many threads about this game popping up today?

It just released two days ago.

mage one is the only real one so bottomr ight corner, fight out ends once he dies

Oh I see thanks user.

Very generic medieval fantasy romp, definitely do not get the game for it's story/lore.

Did anyone solve the seasons riddle with the tree totems in the second act? The most obvious choices of spells don't seem to work, except on the winter one.

Next lucky arrow crit managed to kill the right one :3
Too fucking close.

I really have fun playing this gamewhich is surprising to me, because I didnt really like 1st one.
I am playing custom human 2h tanky knight and have red prince as my pyro+geo mage, Ifan as ranger and Beast as hydrotank
I really like how dialogue is done in this game and how every single encounter feels different -no trash mobs
there is no reason why there is no "equalize with gold" button during trading, ui should get polished
Also, while talking to animals there should be an conversation option "ehm, I cant talk to you, but my friend can", this is especially annoying when animals engage you on sight.
Also, whats the point of weapon durability, when you can just shoot chest/doors with ranged weapons. They should just remove "the mechanic", it doesnt add anything.

Just finished the island on Tacticians Mode.
The first few levels were pretty hard but after you get your level 2 spells at around level 5(?), the combat gets a lot easier.
But I do agree that crowd controls feel pretty weak because of the way the armor works.

>there is no reason why there is no "equalize with gold" button during trading, ui should get polished

You mean this button?

Oy, you COCKSUCKING MOTHERFUCKERS, would Warfare + Summoning work at all?

How comfy is playing this game with a controller? Is it doable?

I had to check it in game
I have no idea how could I be this blind

...

Anything can work if you play to it. Just be ready to sacrifice some str for int.

Also, how do you deal with those flaming pigs?

>Also, how do you deal with those flaming pigs?
Use Bless on them

Doable? yes
But if you really want to play right it should be done with mouse and keyboard to get those .01m exact measurements that do matter

>thinking I'm made of source points
user please

>only remove one collar at a time
On one hand this is a great system on the other hand fuck you game.
Cause friend started the quest he was the one who got his collar removed despite the fact I beat him in the arena.

Just use the wand with the Purge skill that lets you harvest source. You can replenish the charges.
One of those pigs turned out to be a Trader with a lot of good items.

What are the best skills for a shadowblade? I've been doing well with adrenaline, backlash, chicken claw, chameleon cloak, tendon rupture, tactical retreat.

Looking to try cloak and dagger, spread wings, skin graft, and the warfare charge and knockdown.

Any good ones I'm missing?

>What class you playing
Pyromancer/staff fighter
>What party line up
Red Prince (MC)
Lohse (healer)
Fane (summoner)
Sebille (wizard)
>origin or custom
Origin
>most importantly what instrument
I don't remember the name, the bottom one in the selection screen.

>I'm playing an undead geomancer/summoner for top poison faggotry
I was pleasantly surprised that your own poison towers start attacking you if you're undead for free healing.

i'm playing on classic and desu it's embarrassingly hard. every fight forces me to use at least a few potions and one res

Can I bang the elf slut?

>What class you playing
Summoner + poison geo
>What party line up
Fane necro warfare never dying tank
Ifan scoundrel + meta single target rape machine
Beast hydro + aero support
>origin or custom
Custom
>most importantly what instrument
Flute bois

It gets a lot easier after level 5

>Killed Scaphor without having to fight

Is there anyway to summon skeletons?

People are going to call me a casual but this game has a shitty difficulty curve and it reminds me a lot of Shin Megami Tensei 4. The beginning is really fucking hard and many encounters feel simply impossible but once you get some decent gear, level up a bit and get some new skills it gets much, much easier.

Every WRPG ever.

use teleport on Fane :^)

I'm having the same issue I had with the first game.

Play through the prologue.
Start over with a different character/build.
Play through the prologue.
Start over with a different character/build.

HOW DO PEOPLE GET PAST THIS

Is this a new mmorpg or what's the deal

>Can we get an actual divinity discussion going?

No because the game is god damn broken because of the save file corruption / memory leak shit. 7~8 hours of fun COOP with my brother brought to a screeching halt because of it.

How does something utterly game breaking like this make it through?

*grabs you by the thraot*
BACK THE FUCK OFF?!?

xD

it's especially bad in this one though. In other WRPGS you obviously get stronger as you level up and progress but this game feels like it throws mid game enemies at you right when you start.

...

It works fine for me. :^)

actually make a good build

ok

Just pick a concept you like and stick with it instead of trying to make the best build or whatever faggotry.

After you get off the island you get unlimited respecs anyway for your entire party.

it's a CRPG with co-op

Summoner is a lot more interesting here than it was in OS1 but it's not exactly unique to the genre

When do I leave the island? I'm level four and have explored the whole map.

The whole map or just the area before the Magister castle?

Have you just been rushing the main objectives? I'm nearly level 6 and we only just got out into the marshes

Johnny Johnny... Telling lies?

>Turn based combat

Did I just wake up in the 90s? Is Moot still owner of this site?

Yes.

Be sure to warn everyone about 9/11.

How could you wake up in the 90s if you were not born yet?

You didn't explore the whole map.
I was level 8 or 9 when I left the island.

I wish there were more skeleton puns

I explored the whole map, I left the Fort Joy when I was level 3. I'm mostly playing side quests.

...

What's the most effective way of healing outside of combat?

So then you found the seeker camp, the docks, the cage maze, the swamp and the shackled dragon then, right?

pick up a bed roll and keep it on your hot bar. Instantly heals everyone to full and gives you "rested" status for 4 turns.

If you have explored the whole map, you must have rescued Gareth and found the weapon with the Purge ability.
Now go to the abandoned camp, use Purge on the Shriekers and fight Alexander.

It is the little things that make a game fantastic, especially an rpg/rts

How do I stop Necrofire? Where do I get Source Points? Help.

>enemy spam AOE
>nonstop defuffs and stuns
>enemies have a billion HP/armor and better attacks than you
>knows exactly where to satnd in order to reach you
>doesn't have to ress their own so they go all out nuking everything in the vicinity
>unrewarding as fuck once you win

Fucking retarded

if i liked the combat but couldnt stand just about everything else in the first one will i like this?

npc interactions and almost everything to do with being in towns kept me from finishing 1

The quest system is a bit tedious. Trying to find all the sourcerers for more "Source" or whatever it is, is kind of confusing.

Also Elementalist is boring and does fuck all for damage. I regret it.

Not even a furfag but the lizard female is fuckable as fuck. What class/race should I make?
