Hello Enric Álvarez

It was alright.

Try to make a more lenghty post, or people will simply claim you're a shill.

Too long of a post and nobody will read it.

Agreed
Just got the Varia suit and I'm having a blast

It's ok so far, but the gameplay leans way to hard on the parry mechanic. Its way too inefficient to kill the Golbats with your energy beam and the ice beam doesn't kill anything unless you charge a ton.

Also Idk if its me that sucks or the game that has cumbersome controls, but I'm fumbling around a lot between aiming with the circle pad, holding R for missiles and then holding L for shooting.

Metroid is back. Can't wait to hear the sales figures

Not as good as AM2R.

Just finished it
Might seriously be my goty

I'm doing the same. How long as it been since you last played a 2D Metroid? I haven't played one in many months, so I chalk it down to being rusty.

Early on all I did was do a quick ice beam shot and use the counter to melee kill them or switch to missles, eventually it was a faster combo than just going for the parry. I only used a charge shot if it was a little farther away and I'm on my Hard mode run and cutting off countering all together.

I had difficulty at first but i quickly got used to it desu

Do we agree that at least this has the best Ridley fight yet? Because holy shit, it feels like they knew everyone complained about the one in Other M and decided to give it all on this one, and it feels amazing

I raged a few times the fucker just wouldnt go down.
Then I beat him and it felt so fucking satisfying, videogames should always be difficult

>that wall slam on Samus

It is. Like, it's not OH MY GOD AMAZING or anything, but it's damn solid. It seems clear that it was designed around the idea of taking the series back to its roots. No faffing about with bullshit, just plain and simple Metroid. And that's more than welcome.

The fact it does that while also adding some new and interesting ideas, which actually work, certainly doesn't hurt.

Also, I'm not the only one who finds the infant metroid cute, right?

It is cute and its squees sound just like in super metroid title screen

The fact that you can explore the plane twith the infant following you was the best idea they came up with

Can you keep it if you clear the game?

Or is there a Super style point of no return?

Yes you just load your save and teleport anywhere
Its the only way to get 100% since there are items all over behind those blocks that only the baby can remove

There's a teleporter right before the last save point.

after the credits they put you just before the final boss

One ice beam shot + melee kills everything. You don't need to wait for the parry.

By the way, when do you get the item that lets you get through those sort of fragmented spike blocks? And what is that ability? I was waiting to get that item before doing cleanup, now I'm already at the last metroid.

You're going to get it soon. Don't worry about it, you'll know at which point you can freely explore back the entire game to find secrets.

Sweet.

>blocks that only the baby can remove
That's an interesting feature.

It was in the original game too but only at the very end
We used to speculate it was baby food but in this game it kinda destroys it doesnt seem like its eating it

>>blocks that only the baby can remove
It's a bit annoying that you can't be fully geared for the queen, but doing item hunting with the baby makes you appreciate him a little more.

I just beat it, it's okay. I liked it better than AM2R and the original game.

Still feels too linear. Too few boss fights, there's really only 3 that I would consider actual bosses. It's a decent metroid game, fairly challenging at points. The linearity thing bugs me though. They did such an amazing job with Zero Mission in terms of secret routes, was hoping they'd go back to that

The queen isn't the final boss so what does it matter

How the fuck do i beat queen metroid? What do i do when she blows me on the wall, breath fire + green balls of death? And why did they change her eye color again

The original Metroid was always a better template for a remake. Metroid 2 was designed to be played in short bursts.

spider ball on the floor so her growl doesnt push you agains the wall
When the green orbs come spider ball to the ceiling then drop to the ground between the green balls before she pounds with her head to make you fall

when I knock down Diggernaut and his arms fall down and start rotating what do I do? I can climb them but bombing and missles do nothing

SR is better

Oh yeah i completely forgot about spider ball

Start climbing it when you can, wait on top of the third part until the path inside is fully revealed, bomb the purple spot

The game is great, I just wish, as a Metroid game, there was more reason for backtracking.

I don't fault this game for staying true to the original, I'm just saying I expected more of that kind of exploration from a Metroid game.

It's still pretty great.

thanks m8

This. I never really got that intended tear jerker reaction to the infant's sacrifice. Fortunately, this game actually let's you spend some time with her, and giving her some game play function was admittedly pretty clever towards that purpose.

>tfw you will never have an adorable squishy abomination daughteru

WHY DID THEY REMOVE BOMBING THE QUEEN'S BELLY???

>ending shows the X Parasite finally taking its role back as the apex predator

Fusion remake when?

I'm seeing people saying this game is hard.
How genuinely challenging is it?

To be honest everything just does a shit load of
damage

thats where most of the difficulty lies

Because they didnt, you need to do a melee counter to get a chance to do it.

they didn't
it depends.
how much does it normally hurt for you to play on a 3DS?

There's a bith of good and bad stuff, generally enemies feel a lot more aggressive and the patterns for boss battles are generally more intricate and sometimes pretty tense to deal with
But it also relies a lot on enemies being damage sponges and dealing a fuckload of damage

Was that Ridley or Mecha Ridley?

Proteus RIdley

The original Metroid 2 didn't give much reason to backtrack either.

I mean, I suppose I wouldn't be against a Fusion remake, I just don't see the point.

Let's be real, Metroid 2 aged like sour milk, and it actually needed a remake. Fusion though? It still holds up fine. Besides, there's way too many remakes and remasters in this creatively bankrupt medium. I'd rather the series moved forward with new ideas. That evil chozo in the memories for example seems like the perfect direction to go.

Save the remakes for games that actually need a remake. Like the first two Metal Gears. Holy shit could those use an update. ... And that will sadly NEVER happen.

Proteus

noun
1.
Classical Mythology. a sea god, son of Oceanus and Tethys, noted for his ability to assume different forms and to prophesy.
2.
a person or thing that readily changes appearance, character, principles, etc.
3.
plural protei [proh-tee-ahy] (Show IPA). (lowercase) Bacteriology. any of several rod-shaped, aerobic bacteria of the genus Proteus, sometimes found as pathogens in the gastrointestinal and genitourinary tracts of humans.

the baby attacking ridley is feel central especially knowing its going to be put through terrible experiments that will cause it to grow to an enourmas size and die once again defending samus even if it is a monstours bio weapon that the chozo sealed away

you can still do that, after a couple iof missles in her mouth she staggers and you can use the grapple beam, to make her tumble down, after that you can morph ball and get in there with a power bomb.

>that chase sequence in area 4

I had to subtract a point from the game just for that part.

I want to tongue samus' sweaty asshole

did you guys expected the camera to go in?

I was literally wowed, 3D all the way on

>I hate fun and/or am a huge bitch. a bloo bloo bloo

>In Other M, Samus can't even see Ridley without cowering in fear, is completely helpless due to her traumatism
>In Samus Returns, happening a few years before, Samus rides Ridley through the air as she puts her armcannon directly inside his mouth and wrestle him without giving a shit

What did Sakamoto mean by this?

proteus. After "Dying" in the original. He got the space pirates to rebuild him using Robo ridley parts and other space pirate tech. His body is slowly regenerating during the process

Its not like metroid hasnt had chase sequences before

It's harder than the other metroid games(which were too easy outside of hard mode) but it's very manageable

And other m proved that when it comes to storytelling less is more, it made a moment that was on paper really powerful into a joke
THE BABY

You mean the one where you get Space Jump? What's wrong with that part? I quite liked it, it reminded me of SA-X. I managed to get through in one go, but it still felt pretty hectic.

>game has cool looking monsters in the background
>you never fight them

gay

But you are a frogposter so your opinon is invalid

Ridley was supposed to have died permanently in Super, but he still managed to come back

Felt like a real tease when the game could have done with more enemy variety

It's a lot better than I was expecting from the devs

They dropped the ball with that. The game lacked non-metroid bosses, and that water dude was a perfect pick

>not letting peaceful creatures live

that chase was pretty fun and exhilarating. what are you on about?

>Its way too inefficient to kill the Golbats with your energy beam and the ice beam doesn't kill anything unless you charge a ton.
Freeze and missile kills them in less than a second

I do think it's great, but I'll still stand by that MercurySteam is a shit tier dev and if they gotten anyone else to do this they would have made it miles better than what it is. That loading section when going on an elevator with the game going at 12 fps is probably passed off as some artistic choice but to me it shows their insistence on being incompetent where ever they can show it.

You are not there to fight normal fauna
Only metroids
Samus could get in trouble with space greenpeace or something

This game takes place before Super so it makes sense.

I thought the Ridley in fusion was a clone or something

i know right?

i fucking hate metroidvania games and im having a blast playing it

so if metroids become the top of the food chain on any planet what form is more lethal omega or the queen and with that in mind without samus plot armor would a metroid bitch slap ridley for example ?

Currently sitting at 15 Metroids remaining and probably my only major complaint is that enemies are huge damage sponges if you don't parry them. It's much less of an issue when you have a few beam upgrades, but it's still annoying. Parrying as a mechanic is nice and enjoyable, but they nerfed the normal beam way too hard to encourage you to use it.

Metroid fights are still consistently enjoyable, I like that you're sort of forced to use a weaker beam on them - you get so used to blasting enemies through walls, but then you get to a Metroid and you have to really play around with the terrain.

Also Space Jump just feels weird, I was expecting a much more rapid animation on your spin jump after you got it but it's the same as before.

parry takes too long to do, a charge shot almost 100% of the time 1hit kill enemies so you can just blast your way

i fuck i haven't finished the game yet and i've been scared shitless that i'd have to fight gigginox there any moment because i'm so shit at the game

Other M takes place after Super, before Fusion. If I remember correctly you see him packaged up in some section of the Bottle Ship after beating him, and then when you come back later he's gone. This is the cue that he's been shipped to the BSL.

GOOD SPEEDRUNS WHEN?

>on any planet

They only develop like that in SR388's atmosphere. There's a reason you don't see those evolved forms anywhere else in the series besides fusion.

It is

ZM/Metroid NES=Real Ridley
Samus Returns= real ridley using robo parts to regenerate after getting fucked in ZM
Super= back to normal even though Samus Returns and Super are only a day apart :^)
Other M-Clone
Fusion-Clone that X Parasite killed to copy

I really like that larva metroids only stay frozen for less than a second unless you charge up the shot
make them actually a bit dangerous instead of a joke like in ZM

The fight with Mother Brain was good in Super Metroid, but it feels much more emotional to me now after I finished Samus Return. You really do get the feeling that Samus and the Baby are really close and attached to each other in this game. In a sense, this also redeemed some part of Other M's story. Granted, that game still has many problems such as authorization crap, pixel hunts. But "Muh Baby" part is much much more forgivable now. It's perfectly understandable that Baby's death really took a huge toll on Samus and made her emotionally vulnerable.

tbqh
in Samus Returns most of the affection in only from the baby towards Samus.

she spares and protects it but doesn't "care"

>just killed the queen
>didn't bomb her at any point
brb restarting

i get the feeling that the baby is attached to samus like how a baby tiger would be one day that fucker is going to eat you after it gets ready to enter its next stage on what ever planet it finds itself on

>The mother brain fight in Super Metroid is emotional

Are you 12 years old? It's a fucking dumb fight against a t-rex where a space jellyfish dies

Well, Ridley was killed by a Metroid Queen in Other M. But he was already heavily wounded before the fight and the Queen in that game could summon bunch larval metroids for help so it wasn't really a fair fight.

nintendo have a nice get out of free card to bring "true" untamperd metroids back now thanks to evil chozowhich may infact turn out to be x parasites taking chozo formso they can come back aswell

where were evil Chozo mentioned?

what would be better storytelling
>none of the army cohzo are X parasites, only fed up with the elders bullshit

>same as previous but an X is hiding among their ranks
>or is the leader

>all of them are X -parasites

No, it's simply called having a heart.

Shown in the last chozo memory
They might not even be evil its all speculation at this point, maybe they are the chozo police

where can I see this online?

youtube.com/watch?v=i9ncB6Hk6fQ

I just saw it posted in previous metroid threads so you can dive into the archive or just google it im sure some clickbaiter has already made a yt video as well

Oh look is the clickbait video there you go
