What are some games that have an '80s feeling and atmosphere?
What are some games that have an '80s feeling and atmosphere?
Far Cry: Blood Dragon
Hotline Miami
GTA Vice City
Vice City never felt very 80s to me, besides the music
Vice City Stories did, however
Ain't that the early 90s?
The 80s were so vibrant, optimistic, and filled with hope. Where did everything go so wrong?
That picture is 90s as fuck, btw
Far Cry Blood Dragon
Hotline Miami 1 and 2
GTA Vice City
You can only reach a better future with hard work instead of drugs
your birth
political correctness and "white guilt"
it's really as simple as that
I'm not even white, but it's painfully obvious those are what ruined everything
the mainstreaming of "postmodernism" just made things even worse
...
>inb4 people are taking this thread seriously and it turns out into another thinly veiled image dump op keeps changing ip and doing like the nigger image dump, asian athlete one, and then the bimbo blond one
what the fuck are you talking about?
Many things went wrong, but we could always go back to the mindset of 2000's if we just got off our computers.
...
Can you read?
Whatever you are (racewise) you are a bro!
People lost reason and became absurdly serious.
LOL
nigga post-modernism was already mainstream in the 80s.
And political correctness was already very prevalent in the 80s, just in a different way.
we ARE in the mindset of the 2000s. Things have barely changed since 2004
Correction, the 80's on TV were vibrant, optimistic, and filled with hope
The glorifying of 1990's gang culture
9/11
Social media.
Those three things, mostly. Each one completely killed something vital.
Gang culture turned an entire generation of kids into degenerate wastes of life who were convinced their lives were going to be nothing but crime and strife before they even left middle school, and now those kids are adults with children of their own to pass those life lessons down to.
9/11 and everything it caused began the rapid decline in patriotism with the general public to the point that we have entire movements of anarcho communists all over the country.
And social media not only caused normies who couldn't handle the lawless and unfiltered nature of the old western internet to spread across the tubes and begin gentrification of them, it also completely killed the way we as people communicate. And it wasn't a change for the better.
It was a caricature back then. It was mocked by music and movies. General public never thought it would go this fat. Now with the internet, things are much connected and every asshole can voice their opinion and every fool can hook on and follow that train of thought.
In other words - It is easier to get people involved in bullshit nowadays.
i am not nostalgic of the 80's. I lived them and loved them. I don't think those days are ever coming back unless we reset again.
well except for all the doom and gloom about a possible nuclear war, the general fascination with urban decay, the increasingly nihilistic youth subcultures that sprung up after the demise of punk rock, and the scaremongering about the loss of family values, the rise of criminality and hard drug use, and reactionary Christian fundamentalism.
Ever since the failure of the hippie movement in the 1970s, all of the western world (and especially young people) has been fascinated with crime as a lifestyle. The glorification of 1990s gang culture is simply the continuation of the glorification of street punk and biker gang culture throughout the 1980s.
Double Dragon Neon, so so much.
video-games from the 80's of course
I happen to disagree. Maybe you're not American, but the way people act and think has dramatically changed since about 2012 as people are much more "informed", or so they assume. people have become far more self-obsessed (not exactly narcissistic) and it's leading to a different mental temperament where intelligence is revered and the general populous becomes more "globally minded" where the issues of the world are more heavily taken as their own.
Not to mention, the rise of nihilism, atheism, and decrease of technological paranoia.
Shit, I could go on and on, but point is I disagree.
Thank you.
I know that's a common mindset, but I rarely see people state how technology has changed people making retards into better people and better people into retards
When teenagers got fed up with the optimism and vibrancy on TV and started demanding "realness" in their media-sponsored entertainment zeitgeist.
So the media gave them ghettos. Cause it doesn't get more real and gritty than poor people getting shot and doing crimes, right?
So when the next generation of teens started longing for some fun in their entertainment, some of that fun and glamor had to be built upon that fascination with ghetto shit (the result was bling rap) and while subcultures ended up subsiding and transforming, the general concept of "ghetto shit is real shit" remained prevalent in popular entertainment throughout the past 20 years. And even in the most fun and gleeful versions of that concept, there's still a certain degree of down-to-earth dourness that's hard not to notice.
Populous is an adjective, not a noun
da jews
Bully. Despite it seems to be set early 90s or so
u rite.
I meant populace
>2010s
>Cynicism, sarcasm, satire and parody everywhere
>Being sincere is considered campy and cheesy
>Social media leads to everyone circlejerking about things they can relate to
>That in turn floods everything with memes and pop culture references
Is this what growing old feels like? Out of touch, world-weary and angry at progress?
me on the left
I was about to say "it's just that you were happier back then, the cycle is the same" but then I realised, the latter half of the 10's have actually been an aberration. That cycle has been broken and only hell awaits
I think feeling old happens when you see something become trendy and normal before your eyes, and you feel like it's all wrong.
So yeah.
I'm really hoping Kim Jong Un launches those fucking nukes.
;_;
>vibrant, optimistic, and filled with hope
It really depends on your own personal experience. It wasn't like that for everyone. For some it was a time of turmoil. If you were one of the unlucky few who lost their job, you would probably think of it differently. Hell chances are you were a kid back then and everything seemed rosy to you. Life always seems better when harsh reality doesn't hit you.
The late '80s/early '90s seemed great for me because at the time I was just a kid, I didn't know any better. Meanwhile my grandparents and aunts/uncles struggled with mortgage payments, my parents were trying to make ends meet, but I was none the wiser.
The 80s were literally one of the worst decades ever, you people just look at the movies and music and think the rest of the world must have been just as good.
It's not healthy to be this paranoid
You only think that because you watched 80s pastiche movies you buttface. You weren't even alive during the 80s
I notice this particularly in the younger set. I'm back in college getting a certificate, and most of the little shits seem pretty snarky, sarcastic, and cynical. It's hard to talk to them about anything. Having an honest and sincere conversation for them is liking pulling teeth.
how old are you that you know what the 80's felt like?
t. 90s kid
Then how come the world is now in such a shitty state that we can't even make movies and music as good as 80s movies and music?
Nah, shit is just declining again. Every few decades we are on this, until something changes, be a natural thing, a war, some economical crisis or some ideal was actually wrong and shit needs to change.
>nukes
No thanks. I am still not a wizard and have shit to do, games to play and series to finish that will take another 10 years.
Culture was better in the 80's, that's about it. Sure I was a kid in the 80's, so everything seems nice with nostalgia-goggles, but I still remember the struggles my family had with money and housing.
Doesn't change the fact that anything 80's related in gaming, really gives me a hard on.
Could be economical. Generally, when there's an economic downturn, optimism decreases as well. Look at the '50s. It was so fucking good people actually seemed happier. In the '20s and '30s, people were so fucking sad because of the great depression that many of them deluded themselves into thinking they're going to succeed. That's where the song "We're in the money" comes from.
youtube.com
I do this too sometimes. I delude myself into thinking I'm on my way up, sort of like Kaiji when he was working at Lawson. It's the only way to keep yourself from committing suicide.
>Wanting to be a wizard
It's the most depressing thing ever. I'm coming up on my 30th birthday, and there is greater despair. Better to die thinking you're not going to be a virgin forever.
>Not living your life as a wizard
I never asked for this
>I delude myself into thinking I'm on my way up
You should do that more. Wallowing in sadness will only make anything you're doing be half-assed. Positive thinking helps and will help.
Hire a prostitute man that's what I'm going to do. It might be incredibly pathetic, but it's something you have to do for yourself to remove that weight from your mind.
This meme gets used so much that people ahve come thinking it's a good thing; it isn't.
or a prostitute woman
...
>Haha you're an old loser
In due time, user.

join a monastery, brew beer erryday and engage in consensual cuddling with your brothers.
You are absolutely right
niggers
What's wrong with the second girl's face? It looks like a guy's face with makeup on but the body is definitely that of a girl's.
What would it solve exactly? Most likely your inability to get a gf is a consequence of deeper problem. Do you really think paying a whore will suddenly make you desirable?
Yakuza 0
Literally Jews at the top being massive cunts and ruining everything. What's more SJWs have taken up the political correctness banner and are infected everything with their cancer. The only hope we have for a new golden age is for the Jews at the top and their SJW puppets to get absolutely BTFO. Guess who said Jews and SJWs hate with a passion? Donald Trump.
What's your ideal 80's soundtrack for a game?
Double Dragon Neon
someone post the video of 7-11 for this nigga to show him and the rest of the underage fags in this thread what the 80s was really like and how it actually WAS a dramatically different time where people actually did behave differently than they ever have in the last couple decades
No, it's more to get over the fact that you're getting considerably older and haven't done even the most basic of things. It's something that's always there in the back of your mind. That said, it's likely that caving and going to a prostitute will just give you something else to torment yourself with.
add post-9/11 loss of privacy and rewriting of laws to remove ownership of property from private citizens and nafta destroying the economy and immigration destroying civilization
youtu.be
All types new wave and synth of the early 80s, later eighties music became way to pop like for my tastes.
It's difficult to pinpoint but here's a good place to start.
nytimes.com
This was the start of when conservatism was being pushed out of academia. The pieces were already moving by that time and before.
The 80's didn't end until 93.
Not exactly 80's, but that pic reminded me of McKenzie & Co. a game my sister used to play.
Any reason as to why?
It's fine, they were all jews.
>Being sincere is considered campy and cheesy
Wait, what?
It was a literal hellscape if you were eastern europoor
When did you guys fell out of the loop?
I fell out of it around 2015 but I only know some of it since I'm forced to be on instagram.
You haven't noticed it? All I fucking see is people using irony as a defense mechanism because it's easier and safer than actually opening yourself up and being honest.
there was a lot of different 'feelings' and 'atmospheres' in the pop culture of the 1980s. You're going to have to be more specific.
gangs fucking ruined inner cities
I'm in my 40s and when I was a preteen you could go outside and chill with your friends and shit and be semi-safe
by the 90s no one could go out after dark
Violent crime and drug abuse was literally at its highest, it was honestly quite shitty.
Unironically this.
80s television was all about having fun and being entertaining. There were white sitcoms, there were black sitcoms. Then the 90's happened and every TV show was about saving the environment and improving the world through diversity.
Compare all the shows in my image to something like Captain Planet.
>asian athlete one
what? who?
The Simpsons ruined everything. People started accepting dysfunctional families as ok and stopped striving to improve themselves and their communities.
literally 90% of 80's cartoons were based off toys
I miss it too: I'd love some high quality Tron: Uprising figures.
>decrease of technological paranoia
THIS IS THE MOST UNDERRATED FACTOR RIGHT HERE!
You younger posters might not realize this, but pre-9/11 fucking EVERYONE was scared shitless of surveillance and abuse of technology. You NEVER see that anymore. That alone has had a DRAMATIC effect on everything because it's the basis for the ways that government now abuses and exploits people using technology or how google or whatever uses youtube for censorship purposes.
>tfw Dick was right about everything
What I meant to say was they were trying to sell you toys. They weren't exactly high quality.
I miss the 80s and 90s. Back then terrorists were lazy, the economy wasn't shit, and people didn't have their faces glued to a phone screen when they went outside.
Feminism.
show this nigga the 7-11 video
>LA gear
what a fucking blast from the past they should be wearing members only jackets tho
1=4>3>5>2
trump recently came out in favor if amnesty and illegal immigration and is now against deportations and the wall
