Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but I found Mount and Blade Warband to be INCREDIBLY boring. No matter what builds I use or how many times I play, I eventually plateau. My enterprises earn me enough to main a max number, max upgraded army (usually around 100 men) which means that I have enough soldiers to defeat any individual army except those led by kings (which have 300 or so soldiers). I can also win sieges singlehandedly against lowly guarded towns and castles. But those with larger garrisons, I cannot fight. Also, starting my own kingdom or supporting a pretender's claim doesn't work, because even lords that are very friendly to me won't join my cause.

So I just spend my time in service of a king running around, fighting armies, doing a siege here or there, and never really ever advancing. Like I said, I plateau. With nowhere to go and nothing to do. What am I doing wrong?

I already addressed that though: the problem is that no other lords will join my faction even if I have good relations with them, and my pitiful 100 man army may be good enough to wreck any non-king army 1-on-1 but will eventually get BTFO.

I know what you mean. Even when establishing your own own kingdom, it still becomes a grindfest from then on. Siege and successfully capture city -> load rescued prisoners to the garrison -> train more soldiers for the garrison as well as replace the soldiers you lost from the last siege -> rinse and repeat. The funnest part of the game is at the beginning when you're just starting out because you have a lot more goals to work towards to.

I need some advice lads, because I'm not sure what to do.
I fought in some wars and my soldiers leveled up and now I've got about twelve Swadian Knights, everyone else died off. The things is that while it's nice to have them - since I can beat brigands without a problem - I don't need them anymore and they're a drain on my money. But I've spent a lot of time on getting them, and it just feels wrong disbanding Swadian Knights, and I might also need them for something unforseen. What do?

One of my greatest problems with the game is that everyone with a name aren't some randomly generated mook, but an unkillable character, meaning that you can't put down annoying lords and kings, nor shit talking nigger companions like Nizar.

Grinding renown to lead more soldiers will take you several weeks.
This is the biggest flaw of the game.

In tournaments I'm a beast with throwing weapons. But in the field, I just can't seem to hit anything unless they're directly beneath my horse.
Throwing a javelin into someone's face is so satisfying. When it hits.

What you do is get high honor by not taking lords as prisoners (let them go free) and breaking lords out of prison. You don't have to have the quest just go into the town/castle that has a lord prisoner and talk to guard and demand the keys, go in and fight you way out. The faction wont even turn hostel towards you when you're done. When your honor is very high honorable lords will like you and they can become good vassals when you make your own kingdom.

If helping a claimant just knock out all the enemies buildings. Don't bother trying to recruit lords. Just siege siege siege.

That was actually my biggest problem with it. It was unsatisfying to fight your rivals because you knew the motherfucker was going to get away and come back with another army no matter what you did. It would have been much more satisfying to poke him to death on the battlefield.

Thankfully the Devs mentioned killing lords was possible in Bannerlord. Wonder how they're going to balance out all the dead lords.

I assume random peons get thrown out to fill in the gap, which would still be more satisfying then the same dickhead repeatedly escaping my grasp and coming back with another 200 flesh puppets.

sometimes King Harlus or other swadian lords will give you a quest to raise 6 or 7 swadian knight, could try to pawn em off that way.

I agree about wanting to kill lords but I don't know any mods that do it n a fun way. Brytenwalda and VC makes everyone in the world hate you if you execute lords and in Nova Aetas they just promote the next lord to be king or whatever. I guess you could just kill em all eventually though.

What I did was get the max number of companions and get them all to riding 4 and enough strength to have heavy armor, then gave them all military hammers and chargers and we farmed sea raiders for slaves (I could get 20 at a time with my prisoner management) netting me 2000 denars a trip. 5 or so of these was enough to buy a weavery and dyeworks in a town which I did until I had one in every town in Calradia, making enough to field 150 swadian knights with 5000 profits each week. My companions were all high trainer so it took only a few days to train a knight. We ended up being able to defeat 600+ man armies with no sweat but I couldnt take a single castle due to all the rangeds, and I just gave up there because I was loath to fire all my knights. Still felt good being able to send every lord in Calradia packing to their castles at the same time.

You must have bumped the difficulty up, other wise Swadian knights will just walk through the arrow fire and stomp everything in a siege.

If you're playing on hard(normal) you're loose more guys no matter what units you use. You could use Rhodok sharp shooter to out range and thin out the enemy and the retreat and attack again when they're out of bolts.

What I figured from watching other peoples plays is you basically just main war bow horse archer and shoot every last defender yourself.

You can also lower the battlesize and it becomes a lot easier as there aren't nearly so many crossbowmen shooting every guy on the ladder, but it just felt cheap so I quit.

If I ever do another playthrough I'll be an archer and get sick headshots, but I'm guessing Bonerlord will come out before I have the spare time to do that.

50 Rhodok Sharpshooters with some heavy infantry or cavalry will capture any castle except for a Rhodok city.
