medikit and then motion scanner

dick sucking

hyper wave decoder.
Personal Armor is a meme

But I need to research the armor to get the better ones

>clip

All those fucking /k/ memes have broken me.

so? power armor isn't really needed unless your assaulting bases or cydonia. Plasma rifles and blaster launchers will still rip through armor

motion scanner
and then sell them until you get laser cannons to sell

Sounds good, I figured I might need the armor soon since I've got to start looking for a commander now to get the Cydonia mission but I guess I'll need the hyper wave decoder and better weapons first

hyperwave is very nice since it reads alien missions. If you find a ship running a supply mission, you can follow it and it will lead you to an alien base which is guranteed to have a commander.

I know, I came super close last time I played to actually researching and starting the Cydonia mission but I was overwhelmed and wasted time on pointless research

Do you mean overwhelemed strategically or on the battlefield? strategically, It's nice to build multiple bases for radar coverage and back-ups in case of a base defense, on the battlefield explosives are you friend and can be used to blow cover up to reveal aliens or get a better angle on them. You can also evacuate during a mission, don't be afraid to if it's a snakeman terror mission at night and chrysallids got to the civvies before you did.

I meant like I didn't research the faster ships until halfway through the year so I couldn't get more materials and wasted time building up multiple bases in the beginning instead of fortifying the first one so I only got lucky when I realized I could follow supply ships instead of trying to shoot them down

The best armor is not getting hit

...

Pretty hard to dodge a grenade whenever they enemy has one or I get mind controlled

Mind control can be avoided with unarmed psi dummies and grenades are the same thing as getting shot, you avoid it knowing where to be and how to use smoke

if you ever got hit by a grenade you fucked up somehow, its extremely unlikely for it to happen unless you fuck up

The problem with Hyperwave is that it slows the game down so fucking much. You start getting pinged by UFOs so fucking often.

Yeah I'm experiencing that right now, I just want a supply ship or to find an alien base so I can get some Elerium and I keep getting small crafts instead

...

aliens only grenade if they're sure they'll hit 3 or more. When unloading the first turn, smoke the ramp and wait out the first turn. on turn two start to unload a few troops in a circle around the ramp, if you bunch up a lot of dudes just outside the ramp any aliens nearby will definitely grenade but if they're like 3-4 spaces apart they'll prefer to shoot.
I don't mind it too much. Once I get hypermeme decoder I just ignore the majority of UFOs that aren't supply or retaliation. the real bottleneck for me is researching and building the avenger, I just want to send the skyranger into space and not waste all the stuff and time to build the avenger that I'll only use once or twice.

>not using the most updated version of Extender
Meridian updated the issue with the STR_FIRING and various other things.

OP. Hyper Wave Decoder then Plasma Rifles.

So what's new/different in TFTD? Is it always dark underwater or is that just a nighttime mission

final mission is THREE parts instead of 2
The TFTD Chrysallid equivalent can fly and appear outside of terror missions.
Loberstermen are extremely hard to kill like 8 to 15 shots without melee weapons
terror missions are more varied, regular terror or cruise/shipping line terror.
Deep sea (dark on the geoscape) are permanently dark
TFTD really emphasizes the terror, probably the most scared I have ever been playing a video game.

Just a night time mission, however, depth matters and can make it darker. Base assaults are always dark though.

Jesus Christ

The instruction manual really helped hit home just how terrifying the whole situation was for the poor bastards stuck going on combat missions.

Is Terror from the Deep the Dark Souls of XCOM?

Oh, and thats not the worst part.

Imagine going into the final mission with FIVE soldiers remaining.. And win.

How the hell do I find Alien Bases since I'm too slow to follow the supply ships right now

all your ships have a scouting range, you can send them out into non-radar covered areas and if they pass over a base they'll reveal it. Also I believe if your in the negative points wise for 2 months in a row the game automatically reveals a base for you. Graphs show alien activity in areas, so if there's an area with lots of alien activity but low UFO sightings then theres a decent chance theres a base in that region. countries that have pulled out from XCOM also have an alien base in them I think. You also don't have to shadow right behind the UFO, supply ships fly a straight path to bases I believe so if you know the direction they're heading you can extrapolate and follow it's trajectory.

Also, aliens that can use psi can be in many other types of missions and the TFTD equivalent to blaster launchers is a more widespread weapon so the ayys actually get chances to use it

Ayys get more units overall, maps are much bigger and stamina actually matters since you run out easily, most ayys will also try to hide to fuck you up harder

>lots of alien activity but low UFO sightings
So I should look around Australasia since it tapers off or Siberia since it's getting an increase?

I'd get a base up around Japan or China.

And at some point, update your OpenXCOM to the nightlies.

never mind, for some reason I thought there was a graph that showed alien activity operate from UFO activity. I might look around the pacific though, it's had a steady stream of UFO activity and bases need a constant supply which counts as activity. I would recommend UFOpaedia for more information since I'm more knowledgeable about battles but it's down right now.

Oh and fuckin change your Resolution to something like 640x400. Shit man, know your XCOM. 1280x800 for best viewing experience.

No alien base here fellow human.

I'm watching stuff to the side and I don't have a second monitor

Neither do I.

Are you kidding OP, fucking alien grenades, blow barns sky high KKona.

You know, its nice having somebody to make OC on xcom threads again, it has been long since we had some

I don't have a second monitor either, I just window the video or podcast I'm watching and play xcum 1280x800. This is my setup, a bit of the video is cut off but it's still perfectly watchable.
don't laugh at my one base, the other 2 were destroyed in base defense missions.

I do the same thing

and i would never laugh at how you play the game, however I will laugh at what you are watching, you should be ashamed of yourself user, you had time to clean up

>that pic
The aliens are right to want to exterminate us.

>exterminate
doesn't the brain on Cydonia say that they invaded Earth to help the humans or something like that to protect against some unknown force I wouldn't know as during the final cutscene the explanation was cut short but the next screen of some xcom agent blowing shit up and interrupting the speech. I'm not sure if that was a bug, misclick on my part, or intentional.

>Cheap snap shot that coats a quarter of the map in flames.

Who is the best raifu and why is it Arena Fireball Launcher? I'll accept submachine gun with incendiary rounds too.

>Believing xenos

Don't believe a word they say. They are here to steal our precious bodily fluids and kill us all.

Are you sure you want to believe wild xenos tales user ??

Base in the Arctic that does nothing but shit out Laser Cannons for sale

Yes or no?

well if they're waging a war of extermination they're not trying very hard. The ayys made pacts and deals with governments instead of just nuking the entire planet with blaster launchers. The ayys try to fuck XCOM because they're interfering with their plans and the ayys go on missions designed to make XCOM look bad and get defunded, not exterminate the planet and get xcom while they're at it.
t.not a lobsterman

Do you even need to ask

The ending explicitly states that they exterminate and enslave the human race, though

The only way their actions make sense is if they've got supply issues and would really prefer to take Earth without violence so they can focus on other things

...

>tfw no xenomorph

...

Keep your tiddies out of my asexual egg laying snakes

Why so hostile user, where did the snek touch you ?

can you keep this shit out of here? This thread was perfectly fine until the snake fuckers and animefag came in here.

Calm your mammaries user

I don't see how we can't have discussion of gameplay AND some sexy snake titties

Armor lessens the casualties from grenades from half of the squad to 1-2, and also allows you to bring certain weapons without danger of mind-controlled soldier killing your squad. Not to mention that 50% chance to survive plasma hit is better than 0%

holy shit

one of them is just straight up robocop

Did anyone ever try to redraw sprites from that unholy resolution to at least 640x480?

Goddamn, that was annoying as hell
Had to just wait until the next month since I wasn't finding anything and let India make a pact with the dirty xenos to find a base

Time to find and stun a goddamn commander now

>stop doing small UFO missions because they happen like every other second and doing all of them would be incredibly tiring and decide I'll only do UFO mission if they're large
>every country drops X-COM because I didn't want to waste time
t want to do missions that

You get points for shooting them down. This also prevents aliens from getting points, and that's how you get decent monthly score.

>shoot down a UFO
>leave it for a few hours because there's a Terror Mission
>finally send the Skyranger out
>"All aliens died in the crash"

Was that always a thing that could happen?

*blocks ur path*

Yeah, but having to see the animation that plays whenever you shoot them down gets really annoying

FINALLY

Time to start getting ready for the final mission

...

you should research bloodlines so your cavalry have more health

The same goddamn almost happened because I was ignoring literally everything except producing an Avenger as fast as possible without wanting to fight anyone else

Would have gotten a Game Over if I made it to the next day

Fuck Yes

Savescummer.

I'm way too much of a goddamn casual to try and attempt this legit but I at least tried not loading a save after a shot I miss

Seriously though. Update to nightlies.

Install the EXE from there, read the shit.

then get this eventually when your ready for more shit.
