There's one (1) perfect Resident Evil game

...

agreed, and its called Remake

Excuse me?

Zero is legitimately the only time RE's story interested me. But the sequels sure pissed that away.

not that user but yes he is right

ReMake was the best in the entire series. It took us back into the genre of Survival Horror which Resident Evil is so famous for and with the upgraded graphics made it a whole lot better.

I could go on into detail about how the ambience of the Mansion was captured so perfectly and how each corner was intense. But since you want to act like some faggot who pushes graphically inferior games as great then you wont understand the magnitude of ReMake. So go play your shit games and leave this board for good. This place is not for you

its a jill.
i can post more until you understand

Overall RE0's the worst of the classic RE games though. The train section's amazing but you might as well start a new file after finishing it or playing another classic RE instead. Aside from the leechmen there's little worth remembering from it.

And that is Resident Evil 4.

Why is 0 so criminally underrated? Was it too hard for most players?

>only one perfect RE
All of you are dumb autists, there's 4 perfect RE games.
Also, anybody know if the Confidential Report games are good? About to get into the early mobile games and am wondering if I should just look up a longplay of them and read the files elsewhere, as every other mobile game I've played has been pretty bad

Some of its more experimental ideas were very divisive - the removal of item boxes was hardly received with universal acclaim and managing 2 characters instead of one meant twice the item management. On top of that there's a more cartoonish than usual story and at least in the original release (no idea if HD fixes this) minor but immersion breaking performance issues in the guise of frame stutters every time the game went into a transition. That latter point killed damn near any shock value the atmosphere might've had.

because its got
bad bosses
bad inventory system
boring locations (except train)
boring story
shitty partner system

Uh oh im gonna do it. you cant stop me

RE7

Fuck you.

>Remake babbies
>Telling anyone else to leave

OP it's not April Fool's what are you doing

In what order should I play the RE games in? I'm new to the series.

REmake first, then Zero. The rest, just follow the numbers.

remake
re0
re2
code veronica
re3
re4
-----
re5
re6
re7

FPBP

Also there is ONLY one perfect Resident Evil girl.

The fuck's wrong with her mouth?

>bad bosses
Most of them being giant insects was a bad design choice, but the only bad one was the one where Rebecca gets captured
>bad inventory system
Same as usual but you have another character at the same time. Only issue was when Billy fucked off, but I had it evenly split between them so it didn't matter.
>boring locations (except train)
The areas after the Training Facility were fine, and I enjoyed the few RE2 areas we saw despite their placement being retarded.
>boring story
That was the only thing that kept me going in my first run. I wanted to know what the fuck opera man had to do with anything, and all I got was contradictory information
>shitty partner system
Only shitty in the two times I mentioned

That's not Becky.

I stopped playing when I realized there weren't going to be item boxes at all.
Whose fucking idea was that?

Even ''Becky'' can't resist my delusional user.

The hookshot being a necessary item and taking up two spots is retarded, that's my only real complaint along with having to do a whole level without Billy out of nowhere although I suppose they do prepare you for it decently with the magnum on the little tram thing
also I left the game not knowing what the fuck even happened

remake/re2 > re3/4/cv > 0> 5/6

Don't listen to the other two dumbasses. I've listed this out before
>RE1
Original, not REmake. Best versions are Saturn, DS, PS1 Director's Cut or Original (avoid Dualshock and PSN versions) and the PC port
>RE2
PC or Dreamcast, PS1 Greatest Hits version, GCN version. The N64 version has the least amount of content but has a few additional files that tie into later or prior games chronologically.
>RE3
Same as above (no N64 version though).
>RE Survivor(optional)
PS1 version
>Biohazard 4D Executer
Movie
>RE Code Veronica
Dreamcast version has less retarded cutscenes (AKA no Neo Wesker), but the CVX versions have Steve "I'm Kennedy" Burnside design choices. Pick your poison, CV original is Dreamcast exclusive, CVX is on PS2, PS4 and GCN, CVX HD is on PS3 and XB360
>RE Survivor 2(optional)
PS2 exclusive
>RE Gun Survivor 4: Heroes Never Die/Dead Aim
PS2 exclusive
>RE Outbreak 1 and 2(optional)
PS2 exclusive
>RE Gaiden(optional, non-canon)
GBC exclusive
>REmake
PC, PS4 and Xbone versions are best. GCN and Wii versions are available.
>RE0
Same as above
>RE4
PC version with HD fan mod (in-progress), on PS2-4, GCN, Wii, 360, XB1, Zeebo and the iPad
>Umbrella Chronicles and Darkside Chronicles(optional)
Wii or PS3 in HD, both railshooters, both motion control compatible
>Degeneration
Movie
>Revelations
PS3, PS4, PC, XB1, or 360 are best. 3DS is shit. The game is shit
>RE5
PC, PS4 or XB1 are best versions, PS3 Gold Edition has motion controls
>Damnation
Movie
>Revelations 2
PS4, XB1 or PC. PS3 or 360 versions exist. Switch and Vita versions for portability.
>Biohazard the Stage
Stage show, on Youtube
>Musical Biohazard: Voice of Gaia
Stage show
>Marhawa Desire and Heavenly Island
Mangas
>RE6
PS4, XB1 and PC are best. PS3 and 360 versions exist
>Vendetta
Movie, pic you have is from that movie
>Umbrella Corps(optional)
Shit game, on PS4 and PC
>VII
Shit game, on PS4, PC and XB1.
There is also ORC but that's shit and non-canon. Hope you have fun

Agreeable.

REmake > Zero > 2 > Nemesis > Code Veronica > 4 > Revelations > 5 > Revelations 2 > 6 > 7

If that's plot order, then 0 happens before 1/REmake.

Normally yes but the issue then is having RE0 be your first RE, which really shouldn't be the case. Also, upon further evaluation of that list I'd flip Nemesis and Code Veronica for mechanical development reasons. CV can feel a bit primitive after playing Nemesis and the latter also does a better job of foreshadowing 4's direction.

Understandable then

Or you could just follow my suggestion which has Survivor and 4D Executer directly before the downgrade that is CV, so that you've adjusted to shit gameplay.
Also, skipping the game that makes REmake as good as it is is a bad decision and only dumbasses would do it. I understand playing Kiwami over Yakuza 1, as that's a 1:1 remake, but REmake was made to also play on your expectations of what it will be as a fan of RE. That's why the dog hallways has the dogs break through on the second time, and why the death masks are there while there is still one crest in the mansion. It gets you thinking and the changes are part of the scare-factor

theres 3.

1 og, 2, and code veronica

I've got no issues with someone starting with RE1. REmake's generally considered to be better but you make some fine points. Also, a list like that is perhaps overwhelming to a newcomer and it's honestly easier on them to just list the mainline titles and let them explore the series beyond that as they see fit.

I just put down optional next to things that might not be good for a newcomer. But, I don't like the idea of someone starting the series and just playing the main games, I want them to at least get invested in the good half of the series, rather than everything after 0

>dead aim
good taste

The holy trinity of RE games is CV, RE2 and The Evil Within

Remake for me as well... but RE2 is a very very very very close second.

...

>spoiler

I mean, I like it more than most people seem to but that's a hell of a claim. Probably less of a stretch than CV, though.

>kevin is there
nice

This was a really nice and informative summery. Thanks user. you're one of the good ones.

Also saved it as a screen shot for future posting if you want.

Going to need a link for that, bro!

Who the fuck is that on the top right left of Jake?

Most likely REmake, 2 and 3

Looks like Ethan

Piers Nivans, the best part about RE6 and Chris' fuckbuddy
Post it as much as you want, people starting the series need to know what's essential and what versions are best.

Agreed, looks like... Piers?
Can't be Ethan, since I believe this pic was commissioned before RE7 was even announced.

In related RE developments, I am looking forward to playing as Hunk punching Molded in the face in Not A Hero

Except she doesn't look like that anymore. Crapcom can't make her look good without Voth's face to go off of.

it cant be piers
he never wears a white button up collar shirt

He looks like he's in a collared shirt not touting Piers' checked scarf even though the hair lines up.

This, though RE2 and RE4 are also up there but for different reasons

If it isn't Piers, then this picture would've have to have been made after January 2017, as we never saw Ethan's face until someone started inspecting the cutscenes.
Maybe it's Piers from the stage show? That'd be a bit of a stretch, but it's the only possibility I can come up with

I'm guessing... Ben Bertolucci or Matt Addison. I'm probably dead wrong, but just my random thought.

Why are Becky and Billy on the bad guys' side?
Why is Chris Ryu now?
Why is Wesker on the good guys' side?

0 > REMake > RE2make/RE2 (DC/GC) > RE3 > RECV > RE4 > RE5 > RE6 > RE7

Well the first image I grab suggest they had this right there. And everyone else seems to be rendered from their first games appearances... except Ada.

Well I would assume it's not a postscripted nongame outfit.

Ben had a ponytail.

>piers will never come back and capcom will forget about him
I just want a Revelations 3 where he comes back all mutated and you can use the electric powers again (and we can have Steve with his own mutations, and have Leon and Chris be the obligatory returning characters). But, that'll never happen. Instead we'll get Carlos, Billy and two nobodies fighting the chick from Vendetta.

I feel like RE is hamstringing itself by not having scenario minigames.

Picking a random character to give an objective to and throw text in to frame it like "Assignment Ada" and you have a threefold bonus. Extra content, potentially expanded story elements, end exposure for character and fanservice for that character.

They still have the scenario minigame, that being Mercs/Battle/Raid mode, RE5 being the most fanservicey one.
Honestly, I'd just prefer an RE fighting game or visual novel, but all we'll get are RE character in MvC and that weird Capcom semi-VN series that had the Dead Aim characters

Looking to get into the series. Should I play original or REmake? Is the cheese worth playing the original?

>and we can have Steve

For a moment there I thought you were serious

Would you?

I'm not saying they don't have minigames. Just that Mercs/Battle/Etc with no story, a hoard mode premise, and few character choice shocks is standard.

I'm talking about Mad Jackal stuff that tries to give a new basis to the game says "Your mission here is to rescue survivors and get to extraction." Or to a different take Leech Hunter completely transforming RE0 into a collectathon. Lost in Nightmares and Separate Ways definitely makes the best of the concept. But don't star side characters to the games themselves.

the VA was something I really missed in REmake, it's really charming how bad it is while REmake is just bland, play both but play OG first
they don't play radically different from each other so the jump isn't that huge from one to one and REmake remixes some stuff of that fucks with your expectations if you played 1 before

...

First post best post
No argument to it

0 HD looks so fucking good, it's smaller than 1 too despite 1 looking pretty inferior

smaller file size wise i mean

Play the directors cut original starting with Jill, that will get you ready to digest resident evil 2 and 3s dated graphics properly, then you'll truely appreciate remake and zero hd. after that you dont really need to play another resident evil because you already played the best in the very best order.

>Play the directors cut
Why? I've heard the the soundtrack was completely fucked.

That ladder looks unstable.

only in the dualshock version

>Biohazard the Stage

holy shit this exists thank you user

Resident Evil Outbreak File 2

re4 is a huge step down

you basically just mow down bullet sponges and go down a linear path

>Why are Becky and Billy on the bad guys' side?
Y'know to save Billy: Rebecca covers up everything between the two of them. Including that visit they made to Birkin's lab and the documents she found incriminating Wesker. Which would've been the damning evidence STARS could have used to prevent the Raccoon City Outbreak.

What's Leon thinking about?

Goatee stuff.

...

Based on the image, the fact that his waifu died
Why doesn't he give best girl Claire a chance?

is that a fucking armpit censor

yea i got banned for posting Ashley's armpits once. not taking that chance again

Bump

...

i really wanted them to fuck

Yeah it's code Veronica

>has best brother and sister
>decently challenging until you learn how OP the knife is
>alexia
>her theme
>Antarctica
>wesker vs Chris

Debate me

Why does it look like shit and play worse than RE3?

God tier RE games

>Remake (the godfather of survival horror)
>Resident Evil 4 (the godfather of the modern third-person action/adventure/shooter game)

Very good RE games

>RE2
>RE3
>RE0
>RECV

Okay

>RE5
>RE7

Shit or forgettable

>The rest

Below shit

>RE6

Fully 3D was a mistake.

Feels like any other RE minus the dodge mechanic from 3. Also 3 was too linear for me

>God tier
>RE4
This is why every other chan and /vr/ hates us
>the godfather of the modern third-person action/adventure/shooter game
Don't act like that's a good thing
>Shit or Forgettable
>Gun Survivor
>Gun Survivor 4: Heroes Never Die
>Outbreak 1 and 2
>Revelations 2
>Degeneration and Damnation
>Biohazard 4D Executer
>The original RE1
>Deadly Silence
Holy shit I have never seen such shit taste, and I made that huge ass chart ranking every piece of media

>The original RE1

There is no reason AT ALL to play the original RE1 when Remake exists and is 100 percent better than the original.

>There is no reason AT ALL to play the original RE1 when Remake exists and is 100 percent better than the original.
Fucking underage retards. Majority of the scares in REmake, play on your expectations from the first game dumbass. Also, REmake doesn't do everything better. A lot of the soundtrack is changed, including some good songs just being dropped. REmake also has a worse portrait puzzle, ending theme, no Arrange mode, no Battle game(Saturn ver), it lacks the atmospheric look at the helicopter landing zone from the mansion, and the original is still a good game.

also they changed the best line from the original

Rebecca and I are getting married!

This is what I hate about modern Japanese 3D.

Rebecca doesn't look like a white girl at all. She looks like an Asian girl with blue eye contacts.
