Yeah, why not give people the option to have the Japanese audio? It's obvious a lot of the western Puyo fanbase will already be somewhat familiar with the franchise.

This. If there's already an option in the game to include alternate voices, why not include the Japanese audio? The work is already done for you, and you don't have to spend the time having your voice actors say every line a second time in a more retarded voice.

I think it'd feel half-assed, the cutscenes wouldn't change and the set of alternate voices from the Japanese version would be missing.

Because the japanese versions has alt voices too, and it'd be weird to make the english alt voices just the japanese normal lines?

Because if Japan gets alternate voice sets of the same actors just being sillier and we don't get that, that's objectively censorship! Who's to say it isn't!?

The work is done but the money isn't paid. Nip voice actors cost big bucks, and dual audio means royalties straight to said VA's pockets. Sega didn't want to splurge on a game they had 0 confedence in.
