Metroid

Anyone else felt like the surprise ending could've been fleshed out?

Why did Ridley show up by himself? He obviously knew Metroids were there so why not bring all the space pirates. We couldve had another zero mission

Yeah, admittedly while this was cool, it could've been foreshadowed a bit.

I can't even get to the power suit because the game keeps crashing.
I got a physical copy too,

any links to the ost?

>tfw australia never got any special editions or even the amazing legacy edition Europeans got

why deny us we have money too

Small amount of people in a big country cunt.

>tfw thought i had beat the game
>surprise boss
>can't beat boss
>can't beat game

I'm really not liking the controls.

get good

The only thing I don't like about it is that it means that SAMUS KNEW RIDLEY KNEW ABOUT THE METROID. But Samus thought it was fine to leave the Metroid on an unguarded research station in the middle of no where. Even if she thought that Ridley 'died' again, his memory is at the cellular level. As soon as he regenerates, he's going for that Metroid.

>Ridley show up by himself
Because they needed a surprise final boss and he's popular so they just went with him

Maybe she thought he was really dead after killing him for the what, fifth time?

Also the 11th memory scared the fucking shit out of me. What happened? Did an evil chozo birb betray the others?

Samus giving the babby Metroid to Ceres feels weird knowing she knew Ridley was after it. Kind of a dick move Samus.

Also the Metroids being imprisoned under the Drank how were the X not eating everything on the surface?

How the fuck do you beat the omega Metroid?

Shoot him until his belly opens up, then counter and unload supers

You get use to it. It wouldn't feel as clunky if the circle pad wasn't shit.

She had hoped that maybe, just once, that the Feddies could handle putting up some decent security. But nooooo, once again, Samus has to fucking babysit these dimwits because they can't do a single fucking thing themselves. For fucks sake.

Use the Aeion ability + Plasma beam, or just the Ice beam to remove his chest thing.
Once it's off keep shooting with the Ice beam, stay near him so that he's more likely to trigger his counterable attack (with his mouth) but whenever he tries a different attack move away pretty far and resume shooting. Keep your super missiles ready for the counter attack, and unload as many as possible.
Space-jump over his stationary beams, for the other ones you either jump over him when he stars down or move under him in morphball when he starts up.

When he makes rocks fall from the ceiling just lock yourself in position and shoot straight up with the plasma beam, you'll recover health and ammo.

Only just got the High Jump. Enjoying it but feels its a bit too combat heavy. Slowly down the exploring a bit. Nothing too bad since Lightning Armor lets me just run past most things. But a few bosses are annoying since they keep doing the lightning dive which stops me from hitting the bosses and never seem to want to charge me to to the parry. But so far overall I'm loving it.

How will I know if I'm about to enter the final boss fight? I just got the last upgrade and I don't want to accidentally lock myself out of getting 100%.

He only needed one larva to clone an entire army of Metroids, and sending troops would be a complete waste

Just don't go back to your ship

You'll know

The game literally puts a corridor where theres a teleporter and then a save thing in the next room. Right after that is the final boss.

Be a badass, walk up to its fucking chest, and shoot the fucker.

Ain't no time to be cowering in the corner. Get up in its face. And also keep shooting its chest when it's recharging--you can immediately break its armor again if you do.

Is the Diggernaut the worst boss fight in the history of Metroid?

He was my favorite addition to the game actually

Spore Spawn exists.

What did he say Sup Forums?

just check the archive lol

...

Man I thought I had a good troll going. Good work user!

It was an alright boss, mechanically, but I most enjoyed how it kept basically griefing Samus the whole game.

First the chase sequence, then the fucker has the utter gall to steal the Power Bombs. Well fuck you too, pal.

Same. I wish they would have given us the option to remap them. I hate the circle pad and you don't use the D-pad to switch between abilities often enough to justify dedicating the D-pad to that. They could have just put ability switching in the pause menu. Also having to hold R to keep missiles active is uncomfortable as fuck. I'd prefer a missile toggle, they wasted Select by making it access the pause menu just like the Start button. There was no reason to have both buttons do the same damn thing.

I don't know why the fight is so fucking long. If it weren't a generic robot I'd swear it was someone's bad OC.

And yes the Hunters in Corruption all had a purpose to show how Phazon can turn even the nicest person into a asshole.

I didnt see your filename kek

ignore me

I thought it was kinda cool, but it was too long.

Maybe it's just me, but I found normal mode SR harder than hard mode AM2R

How much of that is due to SR's shit controls?

No, not even close. There are way worst bosses than him.

Who the fuck was the guy on twitter posting to not buy this

the faggot with the diaper fetish?

Maybe a decent bit, but hop jumping to kill Omegas and Zetas in AM2R felt like ass too.

The Tester and Torizo are pretty difficult. SR gives you lots of strong tools to deal with any situation.

We got caps of this?

Oh thanks. Keep forgetting to actually use Charge Attacks against the Metroid bosses.

nah, it's personal experience. He used to frequent the GoNintendo forums and would bitch and moan whenever there was a news story about Operation Rainfall or Bayonetta 2. I used to razz the hell out of him for it.

Some other dudes on the forum found out that the reason why he was so salty about the Xenoblade coming to America is because he tried to learn how to code and read/write Japanese so that he could translate and make an English ROM hack of Captain Rainbow. He was bitter that people wanted Xenoblade but not Cap Rainbow.

God, he was insufferable. I think I was actually banned from those forums for razzing him.

I just beat the last boss. Why is one of the powerup slots still empty?

Might be your firmware

>Classic Spider ball where you can climb anything

Prime 4 needs to let you do that. Like BotW letting you climb anything.

Imagine space jumping anywhere in an open world

Kinda disappointed that its joystick and not dpad controlled.

Who knows, maybe you skipped one power up

To follow up on that, the fucking baby Metroid dried him up during the fight, he died twice and his corpse is stranded on a planet with acid storms. Surely if you were Samus, you would have done the same.

>Metroidvania
>open world
Please for the love of god pick one and don't have it be the second one

Happy we got Xenoblade but I am sad we didn't get Captain Rainbow. Nintendo really fucking sucked with localization back than.

Yes you can make fun of their localization now but at least we are getting the games.

SR has a firmware update on the card, you can't even run the game unless your system is at least at that version. I had an old 3DS XL still on 11.0.0-33U and SR forced me to finally go ahead and install CFW on it just so I could update the firmware without losing my ability to run homebrew. It was a surprisingly simple process following the guide everyone uses.

I'll pick anything that's not called "Metroidvania."

Shoot it until it's dead.

Being SUCC'D by a Metroid only seems to be permanent if your body can't generate enough "life" to make up for it. Like how Mother Brian regains her composure after being fully drained in Super.

Does anyone else hate the counter system?

It was a pretty fun game and I liked it. I'm a bit surprised I got an ending besides the worst since I was faffing about quite a bit. Queen Metroid was pretty fun although it was kind of annoying because I kept missing melee counters early on because she just missed me. So then I stood literally under her for the next tries.

Ridley was fun, but my god I wish I had a turbo button for that one. It does feel like it was kind of left field, although it would have been hard to do more without adding another area. They probably could have but it may have been even more contrived.

No, but his third phase can go suck a dick. Fucking bombs, god.

What times did ya'll get on your first run throughs?

If anything, out doesn't speak badly about Samus, it speaks on how difficult it is to kill a giant space purple zombie cyborg pirate Dragon

I actually did terribly. 10+hr at 68%

thoughts on the new technique? (using a giga bomb while in spider ball to rocket to the opposite side)
I feel like it's a good addition and is a good substitute for the shinespark
I doubt it'll ever return cause spider ball fucks way too much with level design and I'd rather have shinesparking

It wasn't foreshadowed enough. It doesn't push you when you're standing. I didn't know annoy it until someone said it here

I'm not too keen on it, I feel like they gave the enemies more health so you'd have a reason to use the counter system. It slows the game too much for my liking, Metroid was about avoiding enemies as much as you could and killing the ones you couldn't avoid as quickly as possible. In SR it feels like I'm either shooting them entirely too many times or I'm waiting for them to lunge so I can counter and finish them with a few shots. It doesn't help that missiles are a pain in the ass to use either.

Not it was stupid and forced it should have been a epilogue or something

Thats mercury steam for you

Definitely forced and unneeded. If it was foreshadowed, maybe, but I don't even remember seeing anything in the background to warrant his appearance

>then counter
what a shit game desu

Its tge controls

>Games don't let you unlock a feature where you can change your suit at will purely for cosmetic reasons

Prime Trilogy lets you do this with the Fusion suit, but only for Prime 1.

Yeah kinda like a secret boss this only fucks with (the already fucked) canon

but the fusion suit is tied with a difficulty mode.

I digress, this is bs all the same

You know someone's already released a savegame editor to unlock the Amiibo extras, right?

This is the first Metroid I 100%

Gonna ask here because i'm so lost

I'm 9/10 on Area 3 and where the last metroid for Area 3 spawns, nothing shows up.

uninstall the game, you are clearly too dumb for this shit.

If it's the one I'm thinking of, you have to bomb around to find an opening and chase it out of one of those nest things.

yeah most of them have really cryptic locations for stuff that you have to look up and get a bad taste in your mouth to find. they really found a good balance for that this time, i think.

11:46 at 100%, feels good man.

I believe I got that one already if i'm right it should be appearing where the red box is unless i'm totally wrong then someone can correct me

meanwhile AM2R works fine. :)

So does SR unless you have a fucked up system. Don't pretend no one has ever had AM2R crash either.

Who here has beaten the game already?
Have you gotten all the items?
Did you shit your pants?

I played a couple hours, but I got distracted by Zero Mission. I had never really sat down to play it before; when it first came out I didn't end up getting it Christmas like I asked. My second opportunity was when I got it on my hacked psp, but again I got distracted.

Finally , I decided to play it on my cfw 3ds. Great game. Pretty much beat it in two sittings. I'm near the end now - how do you fight that fucking ghost chozo thing as suitless-samus ?

the one with the mirrors? you hit it when it stops showing the reflection of you and it glows for a second

Yeh this was the first 2D metroid I got all the items for since I heard there was a special scene if you did.
I got really fucking spooked

Thank you!!

Turns out the firmware on the cart wasn't enough, had to get the latest. But hey, it stopped crashing.

So do you use the Aeon that fills in the map or not?

I used it very few times, and only really abused it looking for the last fucking super missile tank somewhere in area 6

Otherwise I got like 90% on my own, it isn't that hard

Accidentally yeah. Fucking bats still giving me panic attacks when there's more than one on screen.

Yes
I used it all the time when going for 100%

Where at my nig?

> gbatemp.net/threads/metroid-samus-returns-amiibo-unlocker.484176/

Just fight my first beta and then got 3 alpha in a row again

Does this only work with homebrew?

>That Aeon ability that saves you from bombing every fucking wall in Spiderball mode
Fucking godsend.

Yeah you'll need access to homebrew to do it. Then again why wouldn't you have homebrew on your 3DS at this point?

Mostly I just want diagonal aiming. Having to stand in place to aim feels like such a step down, it grinds combat to a halt and I never need all these in between angles. they even have the Zl ZR buttons free to do just that

Apart from that it is fine
