Hearoes of the storm

first time playing it. what should i pick? what to expect? can i get tracer in game?

Always be LiLi

DONT PICK TYRANDE! She is not a real healer, she is not good for new players.

Jaina is a solid choice to learn about positioning.

Muradin is a good tank but you have to land the skillshot.

Pick who ever you want. Just don't fall into the trap of kicking the A.I's ass as Reynor and trying that with other players.

im going to try Jaina

OH SO CREATIVE!

its an alright game i play for the challenges and cosmetics , dont play it seriously and dotn take it seriously

Try to punish divers instead of diving yourself and poke, poke, poke with icebolt.

Yes dota invented videogames now go back to playing with peruvians and russians

OP here. good round. ended in 6 minutes. How long does normal matches run? Next tutorial now

the average quick match game last between 15 and 20 minutes.

It's the best MOBA but it's still a MOBA

Depends on how good people on each team are. If its a stomp it could end in less than 15 but if both sides aren't retarded you can get upward to 40 with dominance often switching teams depending on how well a team fight or map event goes.

Support main here

Have to agree with
Tyrande is seriously a shit support in that game and only really good Tyrande players are worth using her... its seriously disappointing.

I would suggest Lili to start out with then try Muradin, Uther, Rehgar. Lt. Morales is a great support and my personal fave but she plays very differently as a only-healing-only-support-must-hide type of playstyle ala Mercy in Overwatch.

What about Auriel?

Auriel was recently nerfed but she is still a solid healer.

Tracer is one of the funnest characters in the game.
Set your controls to come out instantly, zip around shootin and slappin bitches.

Damn I'm bored as fuck I should play a match or two as Tracer myself.

Game is fun and I like how matches last only 15-20 minutes.

I'd play more of it but I get anxiety in ranked matches and QM is just a hell hole

Honestly playing nothing but qm for months forced me to learn about proper positioning, stuttering and awarness because no tanks and no healers.

I suggest also Li Li for a beginner. She isn't considered as OP but she easy to control and she can survive easily. Ofc great players can counter but still a good character to start with.

I just don't like being the drafter every time because Blizzard matchmaking is horrible pairing me up with bronze, silvers, and placement players.

I'm gold 3-5 since I am new and I don't know how the fuck the draft supposed to work. I just want to play a semi-serious match and QM is a polarizing bag.

From a GM player since beta:

HotS has some serious design flaws that will become apparent to you the longer you play it. The quality of the maps is hilariously inconsistent, with some maps being good enough to probably hold the entire game up on their own (Dragon Shire, Cursed Hollow), and others that will make you want to AFK when you find out you're playing it (Blackheart's Bay, kind of, definitely Garden of Terror and Hanamura).

The developers of the game are incredibly inconsistent with their design philosophies, such as the game's initial use of no damage resistances (what your tooltip says is what numbers you'll see) turned into some characters having damage resistance on some abilities, and now pretty much everyone has some form of it and most tanks have a permanent damage resistance to a TYPE of damage (Anub'arak has 25 percent magic damage reduction, for example) which made tank choice less personal preference and more draft-dependent (not a fan of that).

If you're playing it because you have experience with Blizzard characters, don't get excited. As of late, Blizzard has been mostly ignoring what the character did in their original game in favor of putting in some random shit that could go for anyone. Just look at Stukov and Garrosh. This doesn't really matter if you don't care about the characters, but if you do it'll be infuriating.

Lastly, and most importantly, the HotS devs seemed to miss a key step in hero kit design: how fun it is to play against. Ever since around the Li-Ming release, Blizzard seemingly stopped giving a shit about how fun playing AGAINST their new characters was, leading to games that just feel like banging your head against a wall. Even if you have some bullshit characters on your team as well, it still doesn't equal a fun experience. Chromie poking you for half your HP, Nazeebo rework Q doing over half your HP with no counterplay at all, all Overwatch ports being design cancer, etc. Hope you enjoy the game, though
