Best stealth games?
Currently playing pic related. Really itching for a comfy stealth game after finishing the Styx games for the second time.
I dont want any of the "babys first stealth game bullshit" when referring to others, just sharing and talking about good stealth games.
Classic answer is Thief I and II. 3 is decent, nobody talks about the 4th.
Splinter Cell is good and all but I personally don't really like it.
Dishonored is alright and the second improves everything mechanically but the writing took a serious hit.
I hear Mark of the Ninja is good too. Never played it.

If you liked Invisible you have to play Shadow Tactics Blades of the shogun, you'll love it
if you want comfy try dishonored 1 and 2, the artstyle is really beautiful

Both Styx are supposed to be real good. I got a bit bopred halfway into 1 though.
I love Invisible Inc. One of the only stealth games to really make me sweat, getting cornered and going through the pile of tools I have trying to find a trump card outta the jam I've gotten myself into. My only issue is that the DLC is a double edged sword. It adds more, more potential things to show up, more potential layouts, and more items and characters, but it adds more days and having to survive 2 more days forces you to really focus a much smaller set of strategies. When literally ever enemy has armor 2 by the last days thanks to the difficulty continuing to scale, you really have to have invested in some very specific things to have any hope.
Thief 2 and Butcher Bay are probably my faves.
The idea is really good and the mechanics are solid, but the presentation is terrible. The game is ugly, the writing is bad, Styx is obnoxious, and the visual design is boring. It's a shame.
What stealth games encourage killing rather than being non-lethal? Hitman doesn't count because you're still penalised for non-target kills.
Being a silent predator is half the fun of stealth games, but we haven't had a stealth game that encourages killing since Tenchu.
