Diego sent me. He asks you to talk about the best RPG ever
There's already a morrowind thread up
are you gonna buy Elex?
asking for a friend
I heard Elex is the best PB game since G2 but my trust has run out long ago
I didn't send you here, fuck off.
Buy that Game Full Price to support this small company or wait a half year for 15 Euros on Steam Sale?
Actually i like unironicly the setting.
>own all gothic games
>only played 1 & 3
>really enjoyed them
>everyone says gothic 2 is like the best shit ever
>can't seem to get started since i know i will sink in at least 50h
Well it doesn't have fucking islands, so it's better than Risen 2 and 3 by default.
Animations and combat look jank as fuck, but then that's sadly to be expected from PB.
Ultimately it'll come down to whether the weird gimmicky world they build here can actually feel consistent and draw you in.
Gamestar gave it a 85 which is less than what they gave Gothic 3 so it's not gonna be fantastic
How is the Weapon Balancing?
Guns in Risen 2 & 3 are OP as fuck!
Magic felt useless
>85 which is less than what they gave Gothic 3
Well that just tells me that their rating system was fucked back then and might still be fucked today.
That doesn't tell me anything about the quality of the game.
>game review sites
>giving scores that make sense
look at IGN for example
Gamestar is/was a very respectable magazine in Germany
I know
but you can trust Gamestar to overate a PB by a huge margin
watch their gothic history video, they admitted they rated gothic 3 too high, despite making a homourous bonus video about the bugs
Emphasis on the was. They are a shitshow these days.
>are you gonna buy Elex?
You goddammit right I will. People shit on Risen 2 and 3, but it's really mainly in comparison to original Gothics. They're not BAD games in their own right.
>Animations and combat look jank as fuck, but then that's sadly to be expected from PB.
Pretty much. They don't use motion capture, that's why their animations always look janky.
to be honest, every vidya-review-magazine is a joke nowadays
>mfw they kept changing Diego's voice with each game
The Big Question:
Is it better then Mass Effect " Andromeda?
Gothic 2 > Gothic 1 >>>>>>>>>> Risen >>>> Gothic 3 >>>> all the other irrelevant garbage
Absolutely zero hype for Elex, it looks uninspiring and bland as fuck
>They're not BAD games in their own right.
What? They are one of the worst rpgs i've played in quite a while. Literally Technomancer or Mars War Logs tier.
>15 € on steam sale
Are you nuts? G1+2+3 are regulary reduced to like two or three bucks.
Also, the "small" company you are talking about doesn't exist anymore so you might as well pirate it.
>magic in Risen 3
>useless
Anyway, magic is pretty fucking strong in Gothic 1 and especially so in Gothic 2, but only later in the game. In the beginning it's really tough, because you will have few spells and a lot of mana issues. As for the other weapons, I'd say it's mostly balanced, though you can cheese through a lot with ranged weapons and positioning.
Zweihanders are GOAT desu senpai
Weird German humor thread?
youtube.com
It's literally just youtube poop, nothing weird about that
if you understood german you would laugh too
Hell yes. I'm going to give PB their last chance with this one.
I hope you didn't open the gate and let all those paladins die.
Man, I was like 13 when I played those games. I should go back and revisit them, huh?
do it, I'm the senate
Literally go fucking kill yourself.
Or play Gothic 2, your choice.
I like how character development fucks you over in Gothic 2 if you approach it like every other RPG.
>I want to become a mage
>this means I need to put everything towards that from the beginning
Nope. Once you become a mage all physical training costs double.
>Gothic thread
>no mention of Durmin Paradox reviews yet
Why does Diego sounds so soft, like a bitch in german version?
Gotta become a Chad first before you can achieve true enlightment. It's drawn from real life actually senpai.
>Risen 3 relased 2014
>buyed it for 1,59 Euro in 2016
in just 2 years this huge price drop.
I always thought it fit his smarmy goon kinda type.
Literally a discount peanutbuttergamer.
>tfw you bought Risen 3 on release day
1st VA best VA but 2nd was fine by me too, felt like Diego as well. Dont even remember 3rd one and fucking arcania can go fuck itself
is a single risen game worth it
First one is basically a lesser Gothic that kinda falls apart in the last third or so. 2 and 3 are too console friendly and had to employ separate islands with loading screens for performances sake.
i really want to buy Elex but... yeah... i can play some other games in that time and in half year its gonna be cheap as fuck.
Gothic has the perfect balance between storytelling and open world exploration.
I started playing Gothic 1, the controls just feel so damn awkward. Particularly opening chests.
You'll get used to it. Just think of it as one button puts you into READY state and other executes the action. Also, chests can be save scummed because they have predetermined lock pattern.
I can't stand the fucking controls
>oh no, I have to click AND push a button
ultimate casual filter
they are not even bad, just weird
I'm not gonna let it stop me, just saying they're awkward.
The problem is while interaction between characters is god tier sometimes (never played Risen 3 though), they can't write a good story for shit. Risen 2 ending was basically "we ran out of good ideas".
It's like they put all their gunpowder on Gothic 1 and blew it.
Is there like list of essential mods for Gothic 1 and 2 besides system pack fix?
A German would say he sounds smooth.
Because he is. A smooth operator who acts from the background. Fitting for a leader of the Shadows, which is basically the secret service of the Old Camp.
I like Diego as a character. He's a real bro without becoming your character's dicklick companion, he helps a lot (especially in backstabbing colony of Gothic 1) but he's not your bitch and always has his own agenda to fulfill
>RPG
yeahhhhhhh about that... not really an RPG, and a mediocre game overall sorry
Is Darkest Dungeon any good? it's on sale.
Finally, Morrowkeks showed up with their buggy piece of open world mediocrity
The problem I had with Gothic 2 was that you basically knew what the ending was.
You see a Dragon in the beginning and you have to fight him in his secret lair.
Now the whole game revolves around getting to that lair, and getting a crew strong enough to fight him.
Basically what you had to do in the first part of Curse of Monkey Island (map, ship, crew).
The Night of the Raven on the other hand was god tier. I like how they interwove it withing the main story. That story had a mystery going on, because it was not clear from the beginning what the end goal was.
Preordered. I hope it'll be good. They've been pretty mediocre with Risen 2 & 3. If they fuck this up, I'm out.
He's a shadow, the sneaky smooth type of fucker
I'm at chapter 3 right now (~50 hours in) and holy shit this game is huge
G1 took me only ~30 hours to beat in comparison
Get the Master Sword asap. It'll be good yor the 2/3 of the game. But later you'll seriously have to pick weapons fitting your build.
Magic is pretty hard in the beginning, only use it on enemies you have a realistic chance of defeating and aren't too easiy. On your first run you'll have to save-scum and rest in beds a lot to manage your mana. Thankfully sleeping won't respawn the enemies.
>Guns in Risen 2 & 3 are OP as fuck!
I hated their short range. They just made me angry and switch to melee.
>He didn't make use of the potential XP
Pleb. I hope you died a lot on Irdorath because of this.
press shift+tab
do what the guides say and patch your games
>he liked something and made a fantastic review about it
>then he had the deceny to retire the channel
This is what YouTube should be.
Disable the mouse and play keyboard/steamcontroller only.
Mouse controls were literally added after the game was finished and the game is way less awkward without it.
They're worth a pirating at least.

Fuck meant to reply to
>You see a Dragon in the beginning and you have to fight him in his secret lair.
The opening cinematic didn't have any dragons. The one in the cimematic later when you go back to the Valley of Mines isn't the final boss, but the Fire Dragon. The final boss is still a mystery until the very end. On my first run I was expecting that weird mage in the hall to be the final boss, but he wasn't.
youtube.com
>The Night of the Raven
>it was not clear from the beginning what the end goal was
The name of the main antagonist was in the title, you know it from he beginning that he is the cause of everything. He is also appearing in the fucking opening cinematic. And you've personally met him before in G1.

Better than more bland fantasy desu.
