>Dragon Ball fighting game gets announced >It's always based on DBZ Fuck this shit. I want a good pre-Z Dragon Ball fighting game. It could have so much potential >Varied and fun characters instead of a dozen spiky, colored haired angsty dudes who look like clones of each other, and a bunch of evil edgy ayyliums >Different martial styles and combat mechanics across characters instead of boring ki beams and endless teleportation or screaming: >Goku >Bulma (using weapons and Capsule tech) >Yamcha >Roshi >Krillin >Tenshinhan >Tao Pai Pai >Lunch >General Blue >Arale >Devil Man >etc >Arenas could also be more varied instead of another Namek stage or "barren land nÂș 53676125": Roshi's house, tournament stage, pirate cave, Pilaf's palace... >No mexican powerlevel faggotry discussions, no bullshit hair recolors, no discussions about Super/GT shit getting in, etc
God, It would be perfect.
Nolan Robinson
Yeah, but you know, Z is popular. Z is what is going to sell.
Michael Fisher
this
James Butler
This. Z is literally the Reddit Game of Thrones of Dragon Ball. Subhuman normies don't even know there was anything before that soap opera trash.
Logan Barnes
GT was Dragon ball in space and you fucks hated it. So fuck off
Parker Myers
GT was Z fan fiction.
Grayson Jackson
A man can dream
Matthew Davis
You might as well go ahead and move this thread to Sup Forums, mods.
Evan Hall
After playing the DQH games I'd really like a DB Musou game. The Toriyama asthetic is just so fitting for mowing through all kinds of creatures big and small
Juan Murphy
I thought Dragon Ball Z is Dragon Ball?
Joseph Howard
Yeah, there's no distinction or name change in the manga, but you now what we're talking about.
Sebastian Bell
Dragonball Advanced is fantastic, but I do agree, a musou would be fun for a bit.
Colton Sanchez
tenkaichi 3 had everyone you just listed except lunch and bulma, and also had roshi's, the tournament, kami's lookout, king castle, etc.
Levi Russell
are there any good games based on the original Dragon Ball series?
Joseph Morales
>le hipster contrarian opinion
Carson Baker
The only thing good about GT is how the final villains existed because overuse of the Dragon Balls.
Josiah Adams
I was really hoping Yamcha in FighterZ would be Bandit Yamcha. Makes no fucking sense for him to be Z Yamcha who doesn't fight anybody except Saibaman.
David Ramirez
What about a dragonball racing game?
Christopher Richardson
Dragon ball is trash, nigga. DBZ is the only one people care about.
Matthew Ross
Can we all agree that GT is much better than Super?
Joshua Reyes
Play Revenge of King Piccolo on the Wii. It's pretty fun and it has all of DB remade and redubbed in the game's engine, which looks surprisingly good.
Nicholas Hernandez
If it's based on OG DB I'd rather have an RPG or action adventure game Fightan games are boring af
James Miller
all the characters need to be able to fly around so they use their Z versions.
Jacob Robinson
Advanced Adventures
Jace Myers
More like the "I'm not american so I didn't grew up with DBZ opinion"
Levi Bennett
most of the villains in DB are pretty throwaway. I'd like kid goku though
Elijah Peterson
The Capcom Jojos fighter was all throwaway villains too and it was glorious.
Honestly the DB bad guys have better gimmicks than all the dudes from Z.
Colton Perez
only like the first 17 episodes then it became an exaxt copy of dragon ball z
Jordan Mitchell
90% of the characters in Part 3 were throwaway villains.
Aiden Hughes
This. OG DB was about a journey, personal growth, exploration and adventure. It's DBZ that started fetishising 10 episodes long "this isn't even my final form" fights.
Ryan Mitchell
I'm not American either, shitskin
Adam Morales
Tenshinhan tournament forward were the best and most memorable DB arcs and they all already had DBZ vibe. DB before Kuririn was pretty shitty to be honest.
Jose Wilson
The tournaments felt better to me than most fights in DBZ, primarily because they didn't rely on staring contests or who has more forms. It also felt special because there was more to the series than non-stop fightan.
You could make a fighting game out of the tourney but I just feel that's underselling the IP.
Angel Russell
Dragon Ball wasn't even that good. It was okay in parts, but Toriyama turned it into a fighting series (that became Z in the Anime) because it wasn't selling.
It was an adventure series at first, but the reception was lukewarm and only picked up after he introduced the tournament, then more tournaments, more fighting, more training and the adventure stuff largely got forgotten. It went from being a kind'a "Journey to the West" story into being the prototypical Shounen, because of chasing popularity.
Being all hipster now and talking about how there's more potential for a DBZ game, rather than a DB one is silly. If DB had more potential, then DBZ wouldn't exist.
Carson Mitchell
>It's DBZ that started fetishising 10 episodes long "this isn't even my final form" fights.
Stop watching the anime and read the manga then?
The Super Saiyajin transformation that took up an entire episode of the anime is about half a page in the manga. There's also a lot more of the silly DB humour (eg. Goku offers to let the Supreme Kai motoboat her, Vegeta gets pissed and says he should use his own wife for that).
Connor Collins
90% of american dbz fans have no fucking idea who is most of the people on your list
Jordan Rogers
powerlevels weres a mistake.
Henry Parker
exactly. the first episodes have the same sense of adventure and reasonable powerlevels as the original dragon ball, but people hate gt because it turns into the most derivative and soulless series of disjointed fights ever, pretty much nulliying the good parts.
Aiden Cruz
What is the best Dragon Ball (non-Z/GT) game and why is it Dragon Ball Advanced Adventure?
Nicholas Bennett
It was just a continuation of Z. Hunting for new and grander dragon balls and more transformations.
Jaxon Wilson
this makes me sad because i really really loved the part of GT before baby became a thing
Colton Fisher
The random animal people just kind of disappeared after a while, didn't they?
