That's all good but when the combat is this bad I just can't get invested in the game.

The combat is fine on hard with a leveled up character.

Most character have a lot of unique moves with unique properties than is worth exploring and using. You can't get away with extella maneuvers on Hard when it does so little damage to actually dangerous enemies.
EMs are for quickly killing grunt so you don't spam X on them for 10 minutes like every other musou game, and it's a good mechanic.

It's technically not necessary, but it helps build the characters' backgrounds. I hope you enjoy endless rock paper scissors.

But most difficult enemies have super armor so you just get knocked out of your combo unless you intentionally whiff a bunch of the attacks just so you can hit with the charge.

Even against stuff with no Super armor, characters like Jeanne still get knocked out of their combos because they take forever to hit and have little stun.

The point of extella maneuver is the invincible frames, the AI doesn't punish it on block, it provides lots of meter for your super mode (where combos actually do stuff) and the fact you can endlessly chain it with enough trash around.

Is Extra CCC a seperate game (sequel) or another release of Extra with bonus content? There's no English patch for CCC is there?

I'd still play Extra though. It's not great, but it's special and honestly works well with Fate

It's pretty bad. The game doesn't even concentrate on cutting hordes of enemies, you're mostly beating on generic officer enemies with way too much hp and passivity, and there is way too much of them since every mission is just about grabbing control of territories by defeating those. Servant battles are both too few and too shitty because their AI is terrible. If you know how to hold block you won't have any trouble.

It's mostly just fanservice game like every licensed musou.

Agree that 1-block EM-spam is a good, cheap albeit boring way to clear bases/plants.

Characters like Cu, Artoria and Iskandar has good moveset that they don't need to EM spam, even on the highest difficulty. Some characters also can make parts more effective, like Prana Burst for Artoria. Jeanne is pretty damn slow though, I admit.

I just beat the main story on the vita. It's not bad if you like fate. The stories and characters are endearing. Gameplay is okay but you have to level up a bit before it gets really fun since you have a limited amount of combos in the beginning. But by the time you're hitting level 12, you should be flying around the map killing everyone.

Oh I just found out Elizabeth Bathory and Astolfo are voiced by the same person.

Gameplay speed (and the slight tactical element you get from having to prioritize targets + the possibility of an enemy tactical victory if you take too long killing an enemy leader) is it's best point.

Combat is incredibly easy to break and, as with all Musou games, the use of player move sets for bosses makes the samey and uninteresting to fight. The fact that you only have guard breaks in your powered-up form also detracts from strategy in those fights.

Story is a disappointment, both compared to previous Extra games and to the FGO chapters that came out around the time of its release. A big part of that is the massive focus on being a waifu conversation simulator instead of having an actual supporting cast of any kind.

Graphics and animations could definitely be a lot better (especially the virtually nonexistent facial animation), but they're decent for a Vita game and the Vita version runs pretty well. The lack of stage variety (there are really only five sets of assets for them) honestly hurts it more than the graphical quality.

It's not impossible to have fun with it, but it could also be a whole lot better.

Both costumes are in the Switch version. The "Switch" one was preorder DLC on the PS4.

The second costume is new for the Switch version. The first (Nero's CCC outfit) was preorder exclusive on PS4 (In the US, it was also only for digital preorders, so if you wanted the artbook from the special edition, you'd have to preorder the game twice for it.)

Switch version has all the overpriced DLC costumes bundled in. PC version apparently will not.

I miss these incredibly obtuse unlocks, like to get Luigi in Melee you have to beat the Mushroom Kingdom stage with XX:X2 on the timer. Feels like nothing in the last 10 years has done that and it's always clearly presented what you have to do to unlock something.
