yeah the game grew by like 300k in less than a day when China realized how much money they can make from it.

I like looting and combat. But this game is way better with friends. When you play alone it becomes dull pretty fast.

I won a game hiding in a house with no armor, a level 1 helmet and a UMP. I won another game climbing into the center of a bush and waiting twenty minutes. There's fun to be had with some incredibly tense shootouts, but for the most part the game doesn't really get fun or interesting until the top 20, and sometimes when you find people in the early game.

I like that it's raw. No hit indicators, no "this nigga shot you from over here" indicators, no giant markers telling you where to go. It's also nice that there are separate servers for solo, duo, and squads. I'm tired of playing with a bunch of retards in team games, I can just play solo or play with exactly one, two, or three other friends depending on how many are around.

I think the base health should be lower. Even pistols should be a one hit kill to the head with no helmet, and everything else should require less headshots per helmet tier.

there was a period of time (not long ago) where last man standing style games were very popular on steam.
everyone anxiously waited for the "DayZ killer" but it never came,mostly because those type of games were very rushed. this game managed to do it right, but it does not deserve the hype (in my opinion). dead by daylight should be an equally good game

Yes one of the few games I've enjoyed in the last few years it's very tactical if you are clever there are some very fun moments. Only downside is the first 30 hours or so you get an ass whooping there is a learning curve

If you've ever interacted with anybody who plays video games casually ever. You'll pretty much instantly understand that social pressure from peers is what made PUBG, Overwatch, and the PS4 sell so well. And pretty much absolutely fuck all to do with their merits.
PUBG has a reason that it is self perpetuating right now, its friends bringing in friends bringing in friends. People want to play with all their friends in one game a hell of a lot more than they want to play specifically PUBG.

But the people still playing H1Z1, RUST, etc? The ship set sail on those games ages ago. What the fuck are they still doing in those terrible games?

It's Chinese bots afking for points to buy crates that sell for real money on the market. You can then use this money to buy game keys and sell them to key sites to cash out. It makes pretty good money for being totally effortless, I do it with 2 accounts at a time bit I'm sure the chinks have server farms running thousands of clients in parallel afk.

Streamers made it a fad for a while. Then when they added loot boxes you can sell on the market, this attracted bots that afk in games for loot to sell, causing the player base to artificially inflate beyond any reasonable measure. Even on weekdays the number of players doesn't slump like every other game, because bots don't have to go to work or school. The game is popular but the extremely high player count isn't totally organic, there are many, many bots inflating it.
