if you're in slavland it's pretty great, because you never pay for gaems. but scrounging up money for a new pc is hard, takes about a year+ of saving up money. i got my current pc 10 years ago and all i've done since then is get a new video card (gtx 760) and more RAM. still runs everything at an acceptable level.

on the other hand, you never get to play multiplayer ever, since the age of dedicated servers and pc clubs ended. last game where i played multiplayer was modern warfare 1. now that everything is reliant on the game dev servers, you can't play with your pirated copy.

oh, and you almost never get patches unless they were important enough for the scene groups to bother, i.e. fixing game breaking bugs or major performance issues.

Well, for reference the minimum wage around here is 3 times lower than in the US yet the videogames are like 70% more expensive through official means, unless it's Nintendo 'cause they fucked out of our country and prices skyrocket like fucking mad, Breath of The Wild at launch was like $130

i'm currently playing through the sonic series, i already played through mario, mega man, castlevania, witcher and dragon age in the last two years or so, emulation is a godsend

Even a direct conversion from $60 to R$180,00 is too expensive considering our wealth, but even so games bought through high profile stores are usually around R$250,00, even PSN games (BotW was R$400,00)
The only plataform that doesn't fuck us in the butt constantly is Steam, they have some pretty reasonable princes... ...Sometimes, Phantom Pain was R$200,00

the good thing about patches is there are repacks like fitgirl that include everything. you gotta wait for it and also installation of >her repacks takes like 6 hours but it's still free

in my slavland NO ONE owns a console - people play PUBG, Overwatch, Dota, LoL, WoW, GTA, FIFA (and PES because FIFA is hard to crack now), NBA 2K etc... most of us actually grew up playing a fake NES and got computers later. Some kids had the PRIVILEGE of a PS1 or even PS2 but not many of them. Nowadays most kids just play those games I mentioned along with android shit because more people have phones than PCs

Everything is going to shit. I dont have a job ergo i have to ask cash for my parents. This is mostly a personal issue but they REALLY dont want me buying things on steam. Its not even about the pricetag, they just dont like me buying games.

Any pricetag above 10 dollars means you gotta think twice or thrice if you really want that game. I paid for an AAA game at full price twice (both times regretted it cuz they were prepurchases too) But that's days long gone.

I used to be able to jew it with the TF2 key trade market + flash/daily discounts. You would wait until a heavy temporal discounts, and trade TF2 keys for it, paying less even with the discount on thanks to the ruskies and hue-hueians. But now that's gone too.

Keep subscribed to Epic Bundle facebook group. They keep updates on big discounts, and more importantly, every time humble bundle does gives away, every time gog/origin/steam has free games permanently for temporary time, and keeps you up to date even on the mobile games market free games.

i'm out of touch with the current generation. but most people my age (27) have only ever owned pcs since the days of the genesis. nowadays a lot of kiddos have consoles too i think. and if they're pc gamers all they seem to play is assfaggots and mmo shit like world of tanks.

but i can't even use a console. i'm like a cripple with a controller. i played battlefront on some guy's ps 2 and i sucked. and autoaim drove me crazy. i cannot understand how people think controllers are acceptable for shooters.

That ONLY happens during summer or winter sale now. Never else unless there's a heavy discount. At least 60% off or more for it to be considered outside june or dicember.

Consoles are cool. VERY expensive tho. The USD is like 19 ARS, but back USD pricetags did not change. So let me take you back to the time in which the USD was 10 ARS so that everything seems a little bit more expensive.

PS2 is the king of every old household. PS3 and 4 ARE popular, but PS2 was the last console that was popular before a giantic economic crash. And many here love it.

Another thing i forgot to add to my previous posts is the slow internet speed. Getting downloads of 1mb/s? that shit was a fucking pipedream until last year. I heard in the US big cities would get 10 mb/s download speed. If i had that download speed right now i would probably cum from my eyes.

A pro to southamerican internet, too, is that bandwith datacap is a non existant idea because there's too much competition like for one of them to try it without shooting themselves on the foot.

All you need is a modified custom firmware and software that dont check for validation of the games (and probably wont let you connect online nor download firmware updates, ergo, why pirate consoles lost popularity with the rise of this and the previous generation with the rise of online-focused games) And you can just burn your own games with your own internet .iso

>50 gb games take ages to download on public torrents
>repacks take ages to install

slowly the industry has done everything to make piracy more and more inconvenient, various torrent sites have died, scene groups have died, it's all dying out. I'm not sure there will be piracy in 5 years, on consoles it's already impossible to pirate

where i live, the average is 10 Mb/s which means it takes me about 15 minutes to download 1 GB. Cable providers offer up to 200 Mb/s but that's only if you live in a big city
