Turn-based combat
is turn-based combat good?
if you're not a niggerfaggot, yes.
this is probably a normie opinion, but aside from the original fallouts i've never been able to get into an isometric, turn based combat game
whats with neo Sup Forumsaggots and hating turn based?
haha you watch le based idubbz too? xD *brofists*
Their favourite e-celebs have ADHD.
Because it's anti-immersive and not fun
isometric games feel so comfy though
Nice trips but you couldn't be more wrong. Nothing is as anti-immersive (and thus anti-comfy) as isometric perspective.
that's just, like, your opinion
I just don't like grinding mechanics and turn-based is bland at best and annoying at worst
...
>people have opinions
The fuck is the point of this image? Delete it.
Isometric is fine if I'm not controlling with a d-pad. Devil Survivor is worse than Overclocked for that reason alone.

>turn based combat
>first person perspective
>they dont know what youre doing and you dont know what theyre doinig
who?
The people that say this probably support fast travel in open world RPG's, use mini maps and waypoints and play with mute on.
That explains it, this place has been infiltrated by casual gaffers.
fast travel, mini maps and waypoints are anti-immersive too, you faggot
WHY U SLEEP NIGGA WHY U SLEEP WAKE THA FUK UP
That's the point, you kike. Most people that claim to love immersion don't truly mean it.
>projecting THIS much
I used to love turn based so much years ago, but nowadays it just puts me to sleep. I don't know if the games are doing something or if I just got bored of turn based games. Pisses me off since some turn based games seem really good, but they just fucking bore me to death.
I can play space games where a match lasts 15 hours and not get bored as long as its not turn based. I don't understand myself at times.
because it's boring as fuck and often involves RNG
underage faggot kys
Because they're underage
perspective has no bearing on immersion, though.
If it does for you you are mentally retarded, and a special kind of retardation at that, because almost all retarded people can immerse themselves in isometric games, so, congratulations!
Aren“t you so very special!
Projecting what, exactly? I actively dislike waypoints, mini maps and fast travel and I like isometric and turn based. I've seen enough casuals talking shit to notice trends, like the people who say that voice acting on player made characters is more immersive than those without out, those who claim that voice acting doesn't affect writing and narrative choice in RPG's.
You need to be easy with people with slow reaction and fat fingers... and yes, they are the same kind of people who cry about RTS being "too fast", no "strategy" and "just clickfests". They need slow games with the enemy freeze in place to think what to do/check a guide/savescumming before a hit/etc.
Turn based isn't fun because it's slow and almost always RNG bullshit
Also the isometric perspective has been outdated for years
If you hate isometric and/or turn based games, you're almost guaranteed to be some milquetoast, Call of Duty playing, 90's-born little queef.
Shadowrun is the only good isometric turn based RPG
>muh COD
>ADHD faggots can't handle glorious TB
Enjoy your RTwP (aka faggot mode).
Fuck both. Only action games for me, either with first person or 3rd person camera.
Turn based RPGs generally have terrible combat with the only necessary being knowing when to heal and what the enemy is weak to. They're basically for autists that just like to see big numbers and flashy effects
Yeah... because TB is so much harder...
>perspective has no bearing on immersion, though.
So you're saying that walking in Junktown in Fallout is no less immersive than say walking in a big forest in Witcher 3 for example?
The jrpg one seems more suited to the late 1990s rather than today
>le COD boogeyman
>I'm gay.
Turn-based games are for grandpas
JRPGs Now needs action elements and button mashing
WRPGs needs a dialogue wheel with "Yes" and "Sarcastic Yes"
>skyrim
>polished modern masterpiece
I wonder what's like to meet Shaq, dude seems to do a little bit of everything, he was a rapper, he was a super hero, a genie, a tv show host and it all feels like he's just doing it for the fun of it rather than making a living.
Isometric viewpoint sucks balls. The combat system for isometric games is almost always bland, slow, and generally not fun.

>Hold down mouse button on thing til it dies
I think most of the people on this board are just mad that they have literally no skill at gaming. It shows when they talk shit about FPS games (which take actual skill and reflex to be good at) and how those players aren't real gamers, then they go back to jerking off to their weeaboo games that take literally no skill to play. Push a to move the dialog along. Push a to attack the thing. Push down and a to magic at the thing.

Most people don't like turn based games because they're simply not smart enough. Turn based games are like chess, the sport for intellectuals. I actually used to play chess back in high school and won the championship at my school. Now I play games like Divinity Original Sin 2, which I consider to be intellectually equivalent to chess. Hope you brainlets enjoy your shallow games like Skyrim and CoD, I'm going to be off exercising my brain.
>Modern FPS
>Actual skill and reflex to be good at
i like isometric
two of the games i've played that have the best combat are turn based isometric
wakfu and pic related
there's literally nothing wrong with isometric
The point is m-muh elite fringe RPG gaming takes way less skill or practice to be "good" at then most FPS games, fighting games, or sports games, but anyone who plays any of the latter is considered a pleb gamer. How does that make sense?
If I'm not good at a pleb game, I have to practice for hours.
If I'm not good at a game Sup Forums considers a game for REAL gamers, I kill a bunch of level 1 slimes until I level up.
>he's never played Silent Storm
>Sup Forums is one person
No, but it is an echo chamber.
>isometric perspective
That reminds me... You guys remember Eitr? What happened to it?
I want to strangle that person.
It's Angry Joe that made that post.
There's nothing inherently good or bad about it, it's a slower form of combat that can get tedious fast (especially if it's a grindy game like the old Final Fantasies) unless you have lots of enemy variety and moves, possibly also some mechanics like timer gauges.
