I'd really be interested in seeing more variety in the genres of music employed in game OSTs.
A lot of games still attempt to copy film soundtracks, or just use popular music.
There's stuff like GTA and Alien Isolation that are really good at capturing their atmosphere through sound, but I feel like in general there's not much interesting stuff here.
I'd really love to see how hip-hop could be used in an OST as a thematic/gameplay element though.

I sometimes feel like niggers are playing a prank on everyone else with the type of rap music they listen to nowadays. I'm stuck in a ghetto right now and the music niggers here play is sincerely the worst shit I've ever heard, and black people have made a ton of good music in the past, even enjoyable rap music despite that not being my thing, but it's like they single out how to make the most dull and monotonous songs imaginable and they make the rapper as unintelligible as they possibly can.
I can listen to a lot of different music, even weird hipster shit, and see the appeal, but what do people like about mumblecore?

The appeal of mumblecore is that it's relateable since they're all always drunk or high.

Like pretty much any creative field, 90%of rap music is shit. Don't let that make you dismiss the whole genre and variations though. Just ignore shit and look for specialists recommendations if you don't know the scene.
I believe music should be valued by its best performances, rare as they are, not the overwhelming majority of times where its just a quick cashgrab taking advantage of ignorant consumers who don't know better

The melody and beat are the key factors. Lyrics do not matter. Its music you put on in the background, its easy to digest, and you can jump in at any time to rap your favorite part because its so easy to remember. Its perfect for playing with some friends or doing shit that requires your attention. This is just the most recent trend though, its not like we still don't have good artists putting out good music.

So why not just listen to instrumentals though? Many of my friends listen to trap which I find fucking appaling, they claim the beat is chill. Even if that was the case then the garbage lyrics (if you can call them that) ruin the beat and compared to other tracks the beat is actually shit.
