It still looks good and would do well in steam.
Why don´t they port this game to PC?
They dont remember it.
Who even developed it anyway
Tri-Ace if I remember correctly.
>tfw to much of a brainlet to understand the game mechanics
It seemed cool but it's all fucked up
>doesn't understand basic trigonometry
It's a pretty easy game to play, just submachine gun, then pistol, that's it.
Did Tri-Ace ever port their game to PC? i don't recall any.
>and would do well in steam.
hehe
It performed poorly. launched too closely to FF13, despite all the hate that game got it still sold like 10-15x what RoF did.
also the 360 port performed worse than the ps3 one, which was a total mystery in gen 7.
How do we revive tri-Ace? RoF, VP2 and Radiata Stories were all good and they all bombed in sales from what I remember.
Because it's a glorified dress up simulator.
imagine all the mods.
They will someday.
Patience.
tri ace were bought by a mobile company so tough luck
Nier came out right around the same time and was also overshadowed. Fuck FFXIII and all the hype and disappointment that came with it.
Make triangles, SMG, HG, rinse repeat
It could really benefit from a resolution bump. The jaggies in this game were terrible.
nier was fucking garbage with tons of fetch questing and walking around empty spaces. Totally understandble why it failed.
They don't need Tri-ace to port the game, Sega can hire another developer to do the job.
But they were in both of those project x zone games instead of a game series that actually did well from the 7th gen like valkyria chronicles, so clearly SOMEONE at sega cared
>nier was fucking garbage with tons of fetch questing and walking around empty spaces.
Unlike resonance of fate?
>Nier came out right around the same time and was also overshadowed.
Nier wasn't overshadowed, it was trash on everything but the music, I'm still surprised it's somehow considered a cult game, but I guess Taro's meme power did help a lot even then.
EoE at least has good combat, Nier didn't even have that.
sega only cares about sanic mate
What game is that webm from?
>He doesn't recognize Radiata Stories
i still have the game installed and couldn't get pass the tutorials
Apparently never came out in Europe. How is it? It looks pretty cool.
resonance of fate had significantly better everything than nier. It's not particularly good about the fetch quest garbage towards the end of the game but you can go through without grinding much if at all, if you just ignore sidequests. nier you HAVE to do sidequests to finish the fucking game.
It's a niche title and Tri-Ace has a bad rep after SO5. It would sell like shit.
good
RoF
>Great combat/rpg mechanics
>Ok visuals and music with the asthetic being way better than the actual graphic power
>Terrible format/world for that gameplay where even the main content feels like endless fetch quests for no real reason
>Incoherent story that's intentionally told in an obtuse way to look deeper than it is
>Basically no replay value because everything is the same
Nier
>Mediocre combat/rpg mechanics
>ok visuals where the style is much better than the graphics, and great music
>mostly format for the world/gameplay where the only things you do that aren't intentionally annoying sidequests or QTE to win boss fights are dumb shit like fishing, growing plants for no reason or a couple gimmicky combat challenges
>great story
>basically no replay value because it's literally just playing half of the game again 1-2 times but with some new cutscenes
both are heavily flawed games with some fantastic parts and a lot of poor to outright bad ones that deserve the cult classic label entirely
>but you can go through without grinding much if at all
if you want combat to take forever because you're underleveled as shit
>nier you HAVE to do sidequests to finish the fucking game.
only to get ending C/D, and even then you only need the sidequests that give you weapons (the ones that are generally the least annoying anyway)
just follow this diagram. The whole point is to go between the other two each turn using a hero action.
Pick one person on the side, go between the other two. They are now at point 1.
have the other person go through close to the person in front, to point 2.
person in front goes to point 3. Then you repeat as shown.
The end goal is that the more times you do this consecutively, the more times they will each run around the triangle in the tri-attack formation. IIRC they will only travel one side for each time you cross, so the formation I show here will only get you around the triangle twice, but it will usually end up circling the enemy at point E. A lot of the enemies will never move, meaning you will typically do the same movements every battle.
Note that any time all three have moved, you can choose any of them to go next. This means when Vashyron gets to point 6, you can swithc back to him immediately and have him go straight back over the enemy making an identical triangle on the other side and raise the counter up to 7. At that point it's easy to have Leanne or Zephy go back through, but it ends up putting your triangle on the other side.
The tricky part is that you need enough gauge to do the number of hero actions you need. If you don't deplete an enemy guage part, break an enemy part, or kill an enemy during any of these parts you will run out and go into panic. Of course, this isn't all that hard at all. IMO going up to 6 is a safe bet and usually puts you in a good position surrounding enemies.
>underleveled
levels have almost nothing to do with your damage though, that's all on your gear and attachments. You can get the optimal setups by just playing through the main fucking story.
>that's all on your gear and attachments
which you can't use without levels, nor can you survive the enemies attacking you unless you play in a super conservative manner where you either never hero action or just spam healing items constantly
it's certainly possible to just rush through the story, but compared to nier where the sidequests often intentonally dont give you a good reward you'd be pretty stupid to not do at least most of them
but you can only go up to your level in charges.
high level means objectively more damage, as well as higher chance of more effects like stun, break, and full scratch.
>Sega can hire another developer to do the job.
I don't think sega has sources of the game
Release them on PC maybe. I miss Tri-Ace too.
> would do well in steam.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
that's the only game i can think of that would cost more to port than what they would make
Where did it all go so wrong?
Eternal Sonata maybe? I never see anyone talking about that game.
The thing with Japanese game companies is that most of them are run by senile old farts that tend to forget about life existing outside of japan
To be fair its niche weebshit. How did you expect it to sell?
Love the game and I love tri ace but I'm not surprised it didn't make money.
Mobile gaming.
>it would do well on steam
I give it 5k sales tops, at least 7th gen emulators are comming along quite nicely
They might port it someday, obviously the Yakuzas, Shenmues, Personas will get ported first, so it won't happen anytime soon.
Some SEGA guy got interviewed and said that NOTHING is off the table.
Emulate it through RPCS3 while you wait.
>would do well in steam.
Citation needed.
It got localized and has dual audio. What more do you want?
>believing sega's lies
Tons of Japanese games that literally sell less than 500k in the West. Even on Sup Forums there aren't that many real weebs.
Just people who think they are because they play Dark souls.
user, that diagram is just confusing.
Honestly, someone just needs to make a webm of what you mean. I understand what you're going for since I finished the game and used this exact strategy, but it's just too hard to comprehend all the steps in one image.
This fuckin game is hard man.
i hope none of them get ported tho
Wow, you're dumb as fuck. What is all the love the Yakuza series is getting right now? Also Bayonetta and Vanquish just got ported to PC this year.
>What is all the love the Yakuza series is getting right now?
non-existent
>localized by burgersega, PC ports by eurosega, no connection between the two
>platinum having a slow year
They're doing remakes and actually localizing shit and giving physical releases. The series has never been more relevant worldwide than it is right now. Fuck off.
and it's still irrelevant.
Ok? They're giving the series love and making it extremely accessible with recent releases, that was my point. Clearly they care about it.
because Sup Forums wants it which means its a shit gaem
NO TRIGGER DISCIPLINE
Ok sega japan still cares about yakuza more than sonic so my point is still proven
I'm not that other guy I just wanted to point out that the vast majority of people don't care. Sorry for not reading your post.
Stil lthough, SEGA doesn't care either if they haven't ported everything.
>the super expensive clothes for the girl allow for pantyshots
how can western devs even compete
Tri Ace is making mobile games better than that.
This is one of the few PS3 games I'm looking forward to emulating.
so after star ocean 5... what are the chances for valkyrie profile 3?
I'd bet it'll be able to be emulated in half a year
>what are the chances for valkyrie profile 3?
This is why PC niggers are never taken seriously. TGS soon, and I can't wait for more sega exclusives.
Definition of a hidden gem. Great fucking game
Square barely gave them anything to work with for Star Ocean 5 i can't imagine square giving a fuck again.
PS3 emulation progress will slow down, not speed up. I have very little hope in emulating obscure games for at least a year or two. Feels bad.
Squenix doesn't give a fuck about anything that isn't FF or DQ, that's why all of their other IPs have been run to the ground and the few that survives get by with next to no budget.
A very very rough gem
Nah, not really, it succeeds at what it aims to do and has a great soundtrack, combat system, and character interactions on top of it, inly rough part is the jaggies and some bosses but that's every game. 8/10
Better a rough gem than a polished turd.
>release the game.
>jounos try it and start calling it the dark souls of its genre.
>suddenly it sells decently.
>PS3 emulation progress will slow down, not speed up.
Not when they just got their graphics-related emulation guy to work on the project full-time
>it succeeds at what it aims to do
And suddenly every turd is a gem.
Agreed. The game is still far from good though.
I haven't played it, but isn't the gameplay pretty pcfag friendly.
>And suddenly every turd is a gem.
Nigga, really few games succeeds at what they aim to do, even the good ones.
I guess squeenix isn't only neglectful to its western IPS, like some anons were saying
Did RoF aim to having one of the most mediocre and nonsensical main stories? Or to have one of the few never evolving combat systems? Because that's what it delivered.
He won't put in many more hours, he was already working hard. It's basically a scam user. And it gets more complicated as time goes on. We've already seen progress slow down this year.
I wouldn't say the game is downright bad, it did miss the mark on most things and it's honestly one of the weaker Tri-Ace games, and mind you, I played most of them, down to some later upgrades like the Boost+ version of Frontier Gate.
I think the main problem with EoE, outside of the inherent flaws of Tri Ace's combat system design based around juggling and unending combos, is that the cast is too small, the story had a great setup and scenario that ultimately doesn't go anywhere and the game's far too easy to break even early on, I don't really understand how people say that it's too complex when it's possibly one of the less complex Tri-Ace RPGs.
There are a lot of good ideas though, the Hex map was a neat design choice that you don't really see often, and it was implemented in a good way that was, again, set back by the horribly developed scenario, having a RPG focused on gunplay is really nice, but having to deal with the shittiest melee choices is really painful when you want some degree of variation, ultimately, the battle system suffers a lot from the snowballing issues that all Tri Ace games have, but surprisingly much more than other games, I would criticize the characters and story too, but I don't really care enough for that shit to bother, and Vashiron was still moderately fun and endearing anyway.
I feel that having a larger playable cast would already alleviate most of the main issues of the game, a bit more polish on the combat system would help too, but it's not a bad game at all, especially since they did try to make something different than a first babby's RPG, still, I enjoyed Frontier Gate a lot more than EoE though.
Squenix left everything that isn't FF, DQ or KH out to die, Front Mission is dead, Mana is on life support, SaGa only recently came back and they still won't give it a decent budget despite the good feedback, PE was killed ingloriously and so on, it's not just western IPs.
>yfw the statue escort mission
I want a PC version, but I don't want to go through that statue escort mission ever again.
Thank god for molotovs
I thought I could stand mediocre jrpgs, but I didn't really like this one.
If it was released during the ps2 era it would have been lauded more.
>portbegging thread
>PE was killed ingloriously
Fuck you for reminding me. Could have been a great TPS, but noooo, let's put not-Aya in it and ruin everything.
At least it's story made more sense than Resonance's.:^)
>At least it's story made more sense than Resonance's
Ain't really that hard to do, too bad it's literally the only thing going for it, which also shits all over PE and PE2, so I don't know bro.
At least I had fun with the gameplay and a few characters in EoE, can't honestly say the same for Third Birthday, not even the degrading clothes could keep me interested, and when even the most basic form of fanservice doesn't work you fucked up your game real bad.
>It's basically a scam user.
We won't know for sure until we see the change in quantity of commits to the build with a comparison of something like a month ago to a month from now
You won't know even then because some things are harder to work out than others.
whatever happened to Xenosaga anyways? I know we have Xenoblade, but something must have happened to Monolith hold its rights now
>whatever happened to Xenosaga anyways
That's Namco's stuff, Squenix doesn't have anything to do with it.
Squenix has the Gears' rights, Namco has the Saga rights and Monolith has the Blade and onwards games, kind of a mess isn't it?
what the fuck
I know, it's such a huge mess that a lot of people that aren't familiar with the franchise's history do not really know just how big of a mess it is, IP rights were a mistake.
>Monolith has the Blade
Well technically Nintendo owns the Blade rights since Nintendo owns Monolith but you got the right idea.
>Well technically Nintendo owns the Blade rights
Right, but since I don't see Monolith ever publishing other Xeno games on other platforms it doesn't really matter at this point, or maybe it will considering the franchise's history, which would be extra hilarious, imagine a fourth, self contained Xeno franchise.
