ITT: Vidya truths that Sup Forums will never admit

ITT: Vidya truths that Sup Forums will never admit

I'll start:
>Old games are in fact, 99% shit, modern games are better in every single way, nostalgiafags are blinded by fanboyism

>99% of old games are shit
Nope, but let me try
>The current gen is pretty good and we're witnessing the revival of small and middle-tier developers

>Sup Forums does in fact have shit taste in video games

>old games are mostly shit

I've spent the last two days emulating my old favorites from the PS2 and Gamecube as well as trying out games I never got around to play at the time and I havent had so much fun with video games in a long time. Your opinion is shit.

Eminem is bad

>are, in fact
>99% shit
>ITT: Vidya truths

>Slash vee slash will never admit that my opinions are facts
I see no problem here, carry on

>Old games are in fact, 99% shit, modern games are better in every single way, nostalgiafags are blinded by fanboyism
Wrong

if he was black, he'd already be considered the best ever.

>Old games are in fact, 99% shit, modern games are better in every single way, nostalgiafags are blinded by fanboyism
Maybe if you have shit taste.

Here's one, relating to you, even:

>Most posters would rather shit up the board than facilitate actual discussion

>nostalgiafags
This is where op proves without a doubt that he is a massive faggot.

That new game you like came out a few days ago. It is already in the past and is now effectively old. You like it because of fond memories (i.e. NOSTALGIA).

No he wouldn't
He's technical but has no creativity or personality or lyricism

ignorant as hell

>implying he isn't already considered one of the greatest of all time

If he got shot it would create a shitstorm bigger than Biggie and 2pac combined.

>posts worst yakuza
nah you are just typical blinded nostaligfag

>ps2 and gamecube
>old

>i think OoT is still playable or even half as good as BotW

If you mean shit from the late 70s through the late 80s being a lot of shit, yeah, a lot of it. not all of it. It was a new medium, and expectations were still changing a lot.

If you mean everything released before 2006 is shit, you're a tasteless pleb who should probably leave.

Also, we're not going to pretend that the casual handholding of most modern vidya is a good thing. It's really not.

EA gives them a few years to fatten up before eating them.

Jak 1 is the worst game in the original trilogy.

I wouldn't say 99% of old games are shit, that's kind of a high number.

I will say that a pretty large proportion of them are not great though, most of the ones I remember playing as a kid don't have nearly the same effect on me that they used to. Some of the old ones still remain gems, though, and I thoroughly enjoy them.

I'll say I have a lot more fun with new games, being generally more complex and visually engaging. I will say that most new games are shit though, and I wonder if 10 years from now I'll look at them the way I look at games 10 years ago from today.

Here's a more accurate statement, OP. Most games, old and new, are shit.

>if you dont use voice chat in games, youre not getting the full experience

I know a truth that /v will always admit.
____OP is a fag____

Here's a fucking truth you will see nostalgia babbies deny
If you lived in the 90s as an adult, you would be just as board of platformers as you are bored of open world shit now

Dis.

Do people not realize that their "best game of all time oh my gawd" is what the companies used to build the later iterations on ?
>every major zelda is build on OoT
>every 3d mario is build on 64
>every 2d mario is build on Super Mario 3
>every soulsborne is build on on demon's souls
>all major jrpgs are build on FF franchise
>all ubisoft games are build on AC2

It doesn't mean these games were shit. The reason nostalgiafags still hold them up as the best possible iteration is because they were so influential and the first cut is always the deepest.
In later entries, they made the game better by building on their experience. For example, dark souls is just objectively better than its predecessor with the story, leveldesign, bossdesign in some places and vastly superior control scheme.
I have this feeling about ubisoft games. I still think AC2 as their prime achievement, but if i would recommend an AC title to my friends it would be black flag for the variety and the graphical fidelity.

I like a good platformer, but every time I hear someone praising animal mascot games, I get fucking mad.

Those were the fucking worst. 2-3 standouts in a sea of generic, poorly developed shit does not make a genre/idea/concept worthwhile as a lynchpin of vidya development. Yooka Laylee is proof no one actually likes that formula. Collectathons with cuddly mascots are almost exclusively ass.

Nah in many cases its also because they were the best such as in the case of Mario 64 which has the best movement in the series to this day

>Old games are in fact, 99% shit
All games are 99% shit, what's your point?

>the revival of small and middle-tier developers
Where, exactly?

>youths

My opinion is top tier and your opinion is doggy doodoo

New and old games are probably good and bad in about the same ratio. Over time they focused on different things and had access to different technology so I can see why someone might think differently.

It's really inane to try and make that kind of claim about the subjective worth of something like that though. Unless your just trying to rile people up which seems to be the case.

Kingdom Come is a good example

>devs aren't beholden to a huge corporate publishing house
>but they aren't just churning out pixelshit from their basements

There are other examples of this sort of development springing up.

go try to play most ps1, SNES, and NES 'timeless classics' and try to tell me they're not 99% shit and no fun at all.

>There are other examples of this sort of development springing up.
Name 4711 examples.

Two generations ago is considered old. Anything before Ps1 is vintage, you old fart.

Sup Forums was right and, secretly, it hurts you to know that, so you cover it up by feigning smugness and typing in all lowercase.

You'd be better off not playing video games or at least never coming to Sup Forums or Sup Forums in general.

Exanima

15 years old is how old Super Mario Bros for NES was when the PS2 released

>What is Battlefront II?

Modern Games
>developers removes all choices
>Homogeneity
>lengthy introductory tutorial
>Hard mode is normal mode
>simple inputs that prefer style over control
>input smoothing/acceleration/interpolation
>emphasis on "muh realism" has characters controlling like lumbering beasts/vehicles
>Season Pass™, Micro-transactions, Loot Boxes are running rampant
>No love or soul in the project, games are just made to get a quick buck.
>age poorly because of no unique artstyle
>usually a generic and forgettable orchestral score

Old games
>development approached with non-linearity in mind
>players presented with many choices even if some are "worthless"
>expected to learn and discover mechanics/the game on your own
>challenging but fair
>No input/camera interpolation, everything is snappy and 1:1
>character animations are secondary to control
>Developers who wanted to expand upon their game released full-fledged expansion packs
>still look and feel great 20 years later
>catchy, memorable tunes
