The cat lady is my favourite

I can't stand the genre for one simple reason.

In most of the games the items that you collect and need to use to make progress are used in completely irrational ways. At this point it's a running gag. Why would I need a shovel to break a window? Why would I need a flower vase to start a generator? Drives me up the fucking wall.

Simon the Sorcerer
or Broken Sword

Sam and Max hit the road

Recommend me point & clicks that aren't Grim Fandango and that are actually good stories and not just obtuse time wasters.

>Find a key
>Try to use it on the only door in the room
>"The key doesn't fit!"
>Shove the key up my ass
>A secret trap door opens

monkey island

Syberia

Tormentum dark sorrow. Is on steam and Android. I think most riddles made sense, despite being weird. But the "good sense" also made it comparably easier.

Other than that, if you can accept the casual nature of room escape games, I could recommend the three "the room" games

The cat lady has a great story and uses logical puzzle mechanics

IHNMAIMS the game is better than the book

I loved Goblins, Gobliins and Gobliiins for these reason.

>hit chicken with sausage to get an egg
>fry egg to wake up hungry giant
>feed him with sausage instead of egg
I fucking loved this logic.

Because benny isn't gay in the game?

The Longest Journey. Stay away from the sequels though, they will just kill your love for it. Especially the third kickstarted one.

Gabriel Knight 1

Not the cream of the crop, but my favorite series is the Tex Murphy games. The later ones are just filled with corny FMV goodness, and they have a hint system that you can use if you ever get stuck and don't want to chase down a walk through.

Book was way more depressing and it didn't have happy ending.

I just noticed the devil on the wall. Jesus

>King Quest V
>Get a pie
>Can easily said pie
>Have no clue what said pie is for
>Reach the snowy mountains which is already really far in the game
>See a yeti
>Have to use the fucking pie on it to bypass him

*easily lose

Benny being gay was actually a well-done character trait because AM fucked him up so much that he would literally fuck anything. He basically turned him as straight as some deformed ape man could be.

Don't they run train on a bitch to defeat the clown or some shit?

just wanted to point out that bladerunner didn't have any stupid obtuse puzzles and one of the endings lets you run away with a lolibot

Is it still enjoyable even though I didn't really care for the movie?

The setting was great but I just found the story and characters to be really dull.

The longest journey

it kind of mirrors the movie for part of it but diverges part way through. It's hard to run on a modern machine, tho, since it doesn't cap the clock speed so you have to find a way to slow down your computer or it will fuck up.

Conquest of the Longbow

There's a patch that fixes the CPU issue.

This and its sequel, Downfall
Third and final game in the series will probably be one of the best as well

Primordia
