>gamestop now charges for release date delivery.
>its $10
only fucking kek could this company get any worse?
>gamestop now charges for release date delivery.
>its $10
only fucking kek could this company get any worse?
If you are at the top, you can only go dowb.
>only fucking kek
So I can still pick up a game on release day without an additional charge? If so that's fine. I will not pay an additional 10 bux to pick up the game in person at launch though, not now not ever.
>Amazon gives you a discount for release day delivery
literally no reason not to use them
>literally no reason not to use them
isn't that only with prime? it's not free, you paid for the discount by paying for prime
Best Buy is the best choice.
Not only do you get the Amazon discount (that Best Buy started) but you also get the ability to pick it up at store or just wait until same day delivery.
There is literally no reason to be new relates from GameStop.
This reminds me of a time where I bought a shit load of Saturn games from japan. They sat in customs for a good four months and when I finally got them, there was peanutbutter smeared all over and in the CD cases.
And I bet you licked it off you fat cunt
Who buys video games at gamestop anyway? The only reason to go there is to pawn off phones and buy funko pop figures.
>buy funko pop figures.
why though
isn't that just with the Best Buy Pro membership card or some shit that you have to pay for? why do you people always forget to mention this?
It's with GCU, it's a $15/year membership (Technically it only comes in a $30/2 year set) that gets you 20% off new games, and more reward points per game, ends up being like 2% "back" or so which is pretty good. The big plus with it over Amazon, besides price, is that it works on any new game period. Amazon's is pre-order only for most titles, and doesn't even cover collectors editions or Amiibo etc.
Gotta make back that lost money somehow.
>gamestop charges 20.00 for a used copy of a game
>takes 4.00 for it in trade in
That's why I like Amazon Prime.
>same day release delivery
>pay less because it's a preorder
>can pay in full with a gift card and be done with it
Only shitty part is sometimes they don't handle preorder bonuses very well.
>Doesn't cover ammibo
Huh? I am pretty sure I got a couple of preorder amiibo at 20% discount at Amazon.
>Buying physical copy
LMFAO!!!!!!
I always get my games in these envelopes but have yet to get a damaged game. To be fair though I recall some of the discs being loose in the case before removing the plastic wrap and it gives me a panick attack.
problem?
From a business stand point, it's very risky to get games at high prices.
For example, someone sells them zelda for 30 bucks and they resell it to you at 55.
Well, imagine the game loses demand and suddenly it costs 20 bucks new. Gamestop just lost a lot of money there.
I am not defending their business practices, just sharing some economics insight.
Buying used games for nothing and selling them for almost pure profit is their core thing, user.
what's the solution for them
that shit is clearly not right
I haven't been to Gamestop in years but i'm going to a midnight release for Mario Odyssey at a Gamestop near me. I can download it at 9pm on Thursday off the Eshop like I did with Splatoon and MR:KB, but I never went to a Midnight release and I always wanted too and who knows what little goodies they might give, if any. If it shit then at least I get to play Mario afterwards to alleviate it
>The last copy is on shelves, already open, with stickers, and full of grease from kids who touched it.
>Gamestop tells you it's still new
Fuck off with this shit already.
stop trading shit in. do commerce from person to person on ebay or craigslist, not person to giant corporation
>preordering
to not buy back a game at 30 dollars like that kike just suggested. Nobody is asking for 75 percent return when they sell a game to gamestop
How about 20 fucking dollars. You broke even. Meanwhile in the real world youre constantly selling used games for 45 fucking dollars and even if that shitty scenario actually happens youre still pulling in a nice profit. Fuck gamestop and dumbfuck apologists.
sell your own damn games instead of selling through a third party numbnuts
It costs nothing to preorder at Amazon.
GameStop is hot garbage and you're a retarded faggot if you shop there.
They want you walking into the store and buying a funko pop, meme t-shirt and a used game on your membership card. They know they can't compete with Amazon, Walmart or Target so they're going for broke and hoping enough idiots stay with them through laziness.
It's kind of like Radioshack in that regard.
He's saying you should wait for the game to come out, and read reviews of it before purchasing. It's a good standard practice. It's also perfectly fine to preorder from companies that have a good track record. People who say to never preorder are as bad as the people who preorder everything.
Sucks to be those idiots that didn't preordered FE Fates ultimate edition.
Yea that's how any business that retails used goods works. You could get more money selling your car on CL but people still trade them into dealers anyways. I run a garage and nearly every week I get someone coming in trying to sell their car to me. They're desperate for cash and don't want to waste their time trying to sell it so I buy it for a fraction of what it's worth and either keep it for myself, put it on my lot, or flip it to a wholesaler. Cars, video games, it's all the same shit when it comes to making a buck.
They stopped it kinda recently, same with the CE's and they removed the 2-week window for a ton of games.
they changed it only to preorders unfortunately anyone who liked the 2 weeks after release is getting burned.
The difference is that most buyers are lazy and would just buy a videogame online digitally, can't do that with cars.
Gamestop's problem is that their entire business model doesn't work anymore.
>go to game stop the other week
>trade in witcher 3 complete
>$40
Hahahahahahhaa this is a joke right?
>sucks to be someone who didn't spend $100 on one of the worst fire emblems ever
>most buyers are lazy and would just buy a videogame online digitally
That's a pretty serious statement, where did you get that information from?
>go into gamestop
>the entire front half of the store is t-shirts
>the entire back is toys
>back wall is entirely funko pops
>only vidya item itself is a cardboard standee for the last COD game they forgot to take down
>they won't even take my 360 games for pennies because it's last gen
>dumped the PS2 bin years ago
They still had their handful of boxed PC games, about ten of them all on a shelf behind the counter. All of them were over five years old.
everyone I know. It's easier to just buy something on your PS4 and have it download while you're at work then it is actually going somewhere to buy it. All my younger cousins don't even bother with consoles in the first place though since they got phones
Not In Canada...
>sell vidya at a flea market
>gamestop a block away
>flea market organizers tell me that GS managers came by bitching about stealing their business
this is me
bullshit, managers don't know spanish and gamestop usually chooses locations in white neighborhoods far away from flea markets
>Amazon changed the prime discount to 10% in Canada
What a bunch of kikes.
you have canadian tire
Samus Returns came in a cardboard mailer that was glued shut, delivered same day, and shipped from just two cities over. I think there's a better chance of my game getting lost than there is of the case getting dinged.
This
Best Buy's is good, but the only problem is selection. At least they can actually ship games to you for free with the discount if they dont have it in store.
I pay 50 dollars a year for Prime (student) and use it often.
Canadian tire sucks.
>be 2009
>be 12
>did great in school
>mom said we can go to gamestop and get 3 games for me to play
>little sis wants to come too
>fuck no
>she cries
>for that mom says only 2 games now
>ugh, fine
>get to gamestop
>i get assassin's creed 2 and left 4 dead 2
sis says she wants a game
>mom says she's only buying 2 today
>sis, you can play l4d2 while i'm playing ac2, then we switch
>no i don't want your dumb game!
>mom ays to give up 1 game for sis
>ugh, give up l4d2
>sis picks pic related
>wtf is this shit
>she never plays it
>it sits in my collection because even gamestop says no one will buy it
>mad.jpg
>Walk into GameStop back in the day
>Used to be VIDEO GAMES and VIDEO GAME ACCESSORIES
>Walk into GameStop now
>Small section of VIDEO GAMES surrounded by clothes, statues, toys, phones, tablets, etc.
This desu, after going to Gamestop And dealing with the dumb cashiers, awful return policy, rudeness, im going to best buy from now on and it feels really good to be done with that shithole cesspit.
Shit i do it all the fucking time so i dont have to go anywhere.
BB is no better now that Comcast sells phones, which means all their salespeople want to sell you a phone contract. Last week I was in one to buy a car stereo and the sales guy just would not fuck off until I was at the register and paying. Also BB doesn't sell any videogames anymore (at least not in my area), that whole section was replaced with more phone accessories.
They know that idiots will keep coming
did you fug her tho
>tfw I work for BBY
>Also BB doesn't sell any videogames anymore
I work for Best Buy and we have a gaming section. hell we have a PC gaming section for shit's sake. You probably have one of those BBYs in some small town.
>tfw I work at GameStop
>work tomorrow morning
>Go to fucking gamestop
>Literal wall of funkoshit
WHO FUCKING BUYS THIS GARBAGE
I will never understand how that stuff has flourished. I don't even understand how GAMURGIRLZ can buy them, the figures are repulsive. Who the fuck is the target demographic?
Any of my Ohiobros shop at The Exchange? If you can ignore the hipster as fuck atmosphere and wall of funko popshit when you walk in they have some amazing deals on 6th and 7th gen games.
>working retail
You'd literally be better off working at McDonald's. Retail is hell.
But then I won't be able to post at r/TalesFromRetail anymore!
you need to go back
Never!
proof or gtfo
they're really growing desperate aren't they?
you're stopping yourself from living out your dreams and you will look back at a lifetime of unfulfilled wishes and die sad
Why didn't you want her to go to gamestop?
>giving thats shitter benzos a single shekel
>buying games
Good the bigger jews they become the faster they can go out of business wait won't happen because normalfags are fucking retarded.
Because she pulls shit like this. Jumper is a shit game with game-breaking bugs. It's more buggy than a Bethesda game. And she never even played it. She just didn't want me to get another game.
Fuck Griffian
Lately Prime hasn't been doing release day shipping for preorder.
There are multiple groups it appeals to:
- parents that don't know what their kids want except "he likes X" so they get an X-themed figure
- gaymurs who want to pretend they're nerds
- idiots who horde them like they did beanie babies
- idiots who are in the store to buy something else but see a figure as a character they recognize so they buy it
The thing is they're so cheap to make they make huge margin profits off it. A single funko pop is worth at least more than ten new game sales. GS's day one $10 delivery fee is an attempt at making the margins a bit better in new games' favor. From a business standpoint GS already makes more money selling videogame themed toys then they do selling actual videogames.
I had a well thought out opinion on this but fuck it
Pic related
Radioshack did the exact same thing a decade ago but with RF components. By 2005 the store was all phone accessories and shitty toys because parents would buy them as last-minute birthday presents and idiots would buy them when getting a DVD player or remote. Then online stores, able to offer lower RF component prices, came around and suddenly nobody was buying any of the RF components anymore. Many stores moved a lot of that inventory out, replacing it with more toys and cellphone cases causing most of their original customer base to leave. Then it was a short slide into bankruptcy.
GS's use of a $10 day-of delivery fee really says a lot about how their business is coming undone. A PSN account is only $5/mo, and gets launch day digital downloads (including preloading and early access in some cases). GS cannot compete with this because it's more convenient for the customer and more profitable for the game publisher. Eventually publishers will start demanding bigger and bigger chunks of GS's pie, until they decide to just cut them out and force people who want boxed copies to go to Walmart or Amazon.
And now Best Buy is doing it too, but with non-phone electronics instead of RF components. They know that Amazon, Newegg, etc all have the PC, camera, A/V and car stereo market cornered so they're walking away. Again it's why Comcast is moving into phones, they can now sell phones inside the stores to a much greater degree now. Just watch as more people cut the cord, as TV sales falter BB will turn on them and their huge stores will be nothing but phones and phone accessories with Geek Squad off to the side for phone repairs. Most of their recently remodeled stores are also much smaller, because they know a big empty store will mean less sales.
There's really no hope for these sorts of businesses left. Even within physical retail, Walmart has them beat due to lower prices and 24 hour convenience.
>Geek Squad off to the side for phone repairs.
We don't do phone repairs in store.
not unless you're western region - bay area. The future is already here, it'll spread east when the numbers are right, which will be soon as Comcast begins really expanding their cell sales. The tinfoil side of me says that Comcast has looked at buying BB outright, like Sprint did with RS.
It's always been like that though
Comcast can't afford Best Buy.
What if you have no dreams?
