What's the F-35 of video games?
What's the F-35 of video games?
Star Citizen
>It's gonna be the best thing ever! Just sink more money into it!
Destiny
>the de facto gold standard but people are afraid of investing into it because they want results immediately
xbox one x
>defacto gold standard
That would be f-22
Is the F-35 hate a meme? I don't get it, it's not like the plane was made by game developers who can afford to be lazy and pump out mediocrity. I'd expect the US military's R&D boys to know what they're doing, setting the military industrial bureaucracy shit aside.
Because it's such an obvious cash sink to throw public tax money into the pockets of defends industries
fpbp hit the nail on the fucking head
Final Fantasy games post-FFXII - excluding FFXIV v 2.0.
yea, no.
f35 is more expensive boondoggle and shittier than anything it's spposed to replace, being unable to even do the job of the vehicles they're dumping for it.
it's a deliberate failure boondoggle to make def industry money at taxpayer expense.
MGSV. A project that went massively over budget, and while it has a lot of features and elements at once, it doesnt do any of them particularly well or better than its cheaper predecessors.
Seriously though, given that it hasn't been cancelled, the F-35 is probably going to work out OK.
It ended up way too expensive as it was trying to do way too much. In the end, if I'm right they split the plane into 3 version, traditional take off, vertical take off, and carrier.
Up coming US carriers will be using them as their main aircraft if I'm correct.
the problem is, it has elements manufactured basically everywhere in the country,so no one wants to gut those jobs even if the project is the king of bloated government spending. They already destroyed enough jobs and companies by ending the F22 program, they dont want to do it again.
>US military's R&D boys
Lockheed Martin is a privately owned company.
>mfw if usa govt. had just stopped being short sighted money grubbing selfish retards they would have had (an admittedly very costly) through life F-22 fleet and already be onto the F-22A or C by now in large air wings nation wide AND be making money hand over fist onselling f-22's to their allied nations like they do now with lesser fighters.
>instead they're basically economically fucking their country in the ass with a cactus and anyone else they can scam into buying some.
The first post, and it's perferct already.
inb4 op planned this
>vertical take off, and carrier
Where would you use a VTOL plane, if not on a carrier?
>implying the corruption and back room boys club deals inherent in the lobbying and military procurement bullshit is not so corrupt that everytime they try and make any attempt to0 clean it up the clean up attempt gets bribed, curtailed by bribed or corrupt people higher up...
etc..
JUST NO. NO NO AND NO.
USA has been on a war footing ever since WWII and have never left that economic model.
total war HAS to end sometime dude. there's only X much 'money' and certainly only y much resources in the world.
>humanity has already eaten through an entire planets worth of crude, resorting to fracking etc to try and reclaim every last skerrick it can.
Duke Nukem Forever
>Is the F-35 hate a meme?
It is and it isn't. The Pentagon fell for le all-purpose modular strikecraft meme despite all evidence showing that a two-plane solution, (dedicated interceptor in the form of the god-tier F22, supplemented by F35 fighter-bombers) was the best option and tasked contractors to create an Ace Combat-tier wonder of engineering. The contractors, realizing the insanity of their task, milked the project of all the taxpayer money they could, but have slowly created a wonder of engineering that will hold up in the field for decades.
Both parties need to be lined up against a wall and shot, but the result will be worth it.
Insanely expensive, arguably worse than a number of planes already in the US inventory. I don't doubt it'll be a very strong platform in the next decade as they iron out the flaws and integrate it as a support craft.
>AND be making money hand over fist onselling f-22's to their allied nations like they do now with lesser fighters.
Maybe I just read some fake news somewhere and I'm misinformed, but I believe the U.S. scrapped all plans of exporting the F-22 because Israel implied they were going to share it with somebody we didn't want them to.
>the US military's R&D boys
It's contracted to the private sector and Lockheed Martin are just using it to embezzle the ever loving shit out of every government that has invested.
yeah, well fuck isreal.
all the commonwealth nations were lined up to hand USA trillions of dollars of profit for F-22's
political dickbags went LOLNOPE we don't need no moneys.
...
just because you want it to fail doesn't mean it will
All right, Mobius 1
What's the Dark Souls of aircraft?
Japan wanted them as well. US said "no buy the F35" and Japan was like "no fuck you, we're gonna make our own 5th gen now".
>where vhould you use a VTOL?
On those mini-carriers the marines have, the carrier version has just longer wings and the hook for carrier landing
the issue is whether you want a VTOL instead of a conventional carrier-based plane. with costs and operational capacity being factors. that's why the navy didn't take on the harrier
From what I've heard? Any helicopter.
Destiny isn't nearly as versatile as an F-35
And in an effort to promote world peace, they made the damn thing so expensive that no one will dare to use it against anyone with any semblance of AA in the field.
This, the b version in particular could be a game changer for the western countries. You go from the Harrier that was, well, a bit shitty (but understandably as it was a stovl plane) to a platform comparable to the best catapult launched planes and miles better than anything the rest of the world (including China and Russia) have for their carriers. This means that not only the US would stop being so overrelying in their super carriers but that their allies with ramp carriers, like the UK, Italy, Spain, Australia... could also help them better than before
A-10
Stealth Bomber
Either one it not those then the F-16.
>miles better than anything the rest of the world
How many wars did win?
The C version also has a trap bulge.
A-10 the meme plane.
...
The "at least its engine doesnt look like a fucking chimney" war, quite an underrated war if you ask me
The f35 at least looks like a fun airplane. You are giving destiny too much credit
F-104
>tfw they rigged up an F-104 to fire a Genie air to air nuclear missile.
The German variant of the F-104.
...
That's a mule engine. Real one is in the works.
what is the F-14 tomcat of vidya?
what is the SR-71 of vidya?
tfw 22 and 35 are ugly
tfw age of sexy jets is over
>be German general
>need a fighter bomber plane
>pick interceptor aircraft
>"but Herr General, this is a light interceptor plane, it is not suitable for attacking targets"
>"SCHNAUZE, ZIS IS NOW A BOMBER PLANE"
>equip it with all kinds of shit so it becomes an unmaneuverable piece of shit
>kill hundreds of pilots
German military competence in a nutshell.
Its been in the works for more than 10 years and it will remain in the works for another 5 years, and when it comes out it will have an inferior thrust to weight ratio (7.8/1) compared to the f22 and the eurofighter (>10/1), both of them will be 30 years old by then.
Harrier. More deaths from pilot error than any other plane. Prepare to die.
