Battleborn

rip swg ;_;7

I love frag videos from dead games. These people were/are gods at a fucking dead game. Like frag videos for Metal Gear Online 1/2/3 or frag videos from APB: Reloaded.

bad company 2

Gunz and Grand Chase.

Nox

TF2 2007-2010 era

Planetside 2

Nothing has been able to replace you.

Tribes

>Gunz

First post WORST post

The Specialists 2.1

Gang Garrison 2

Though they're dead as in no more support but whatever.

I got into call of duty 2 online on Xbox live around 2008. The game was still fairly active and you'd often run into familiar players

SMNC

Phantasy Star Online. I know there are japanese games that still have people playing, and there's a small blue burst server still open on PC, but damn it I want to go back.

Splinter Cell Chaos Theory

I had a ton of fun with Brutal Legend Online, it died after just some weeks though

Devils Third what do

CS: Source circa 2007. I know its not a dead game, but its nothing like it used to be.

Vanilla and Burning Crusade, but not WotLK
Also Exteel, that game was simple but a ton of fun

I know it's not completely dead but Diablo 2
Blizzard could have spent money updating it to be known as the DEV THAT NEVER GAVE UP
but who cares when you can shill loot crates to kids for that addiction money

I only had 4GB of RAM back then and could barely run it since it maxed my PC out
By the time I got my current PC (16GB) it was already over ;_;

Guild Wars 1

this. dice perfected the battlefield formula then abandoned it for no reason

Rip The OnRPG forums.

Assassin's Creed competitive multiplayer
Nothing nowadays scratches that itch of outplaying seven opponents at once with pure mindgames

I typically hate online games but this was something else.

>all the youngfags that will never know the specialist, esf, the ship, or frozen throne mods
What a life.

Final Fantasy XI

My nigga. Best PvP in an isometric rpg. I can still hear the casting chants in my head.

WoW

I want the CBT and first two months of Aika Online back.

Dofus

user, you can come back...

I used to post on a wrestling/vidya/wrestling vidya site called Caws.ws in 2004-2007ish. One of the admins was molesting boys in PMs on the site. I had him on msn but I told him I was 17 (really, I was 11 but you had to be 13+ to use the side so I told him I was 17 so they wouldn't be suspicious ) but yeah. It was a pretty big scandal. His name was JohnB. I remember one of the kids he molested posting the screenshots of the conversation. Pretty sure he went to jail. Weird time to be on the internet.

Day of Defeat.

No one even remembers.

this

css minigame servers

Bioshock 2.
Such an underrated multiplayer

Fuck, I loved this CoD clone. It just felt "right".

Gotham City: Imposters. You could make some crazy OP builds in that game.

My Fucking Brother
Something about that multiplayer was just fun
Wich game was the best for you?
Fuck those smoke bombs fromm Brotherhood tho

halo 3

not just the base matchmaking, but the days of coming home from a shit day of high school and hopping on xbox live and seeing your buddies on. getting in a party together and playing custom games and forge together, pulling dope infected gamemodes off each other's fileshares and sitting there for hours on top of a floating elephant. Talking over chat abou life, how shit nick is at aiming, and how you can't wait to do this everyday when youre on your own. Talking about the campaign at your shitty pizzahut job, and talking about shitty machinima while clipping lawns. I know its more of a nostalgia about life, but that game and its muliplayer was the catalyst. RIP the mid to late 00's, you were fucking garbage. the fight is finished.

GunZ 2 is so fucking bad it's depressing
Why are developers so afraid of advanced tech and fast gameplay now?

Perfect World International. Although the community is still partly alive, they're starting to merge servers and so on. Also, it's full of League of Legends-tier toxic cunts now thanks to the public exposure you get in the game's world chat. The nice PvE people are becoming rarer all the time.

The Culling.

I live in burgerland.

A couple years ago I would have said Everquest, but miraculously it's having a mini-renaissance right now. I got my pie in the sky wish.

Tibia

It's technically not dead but it's never going to be accessible to new players and it will never see a revival.

Alien vs. Predator 2
Any space combat sim from the late nineties
Kane & Lynch 2
Payday: The Heist (does anyone else find this gunplay in this more satisfying than the sequel?)

I'm probably forgetting a lot more. Oh well, it's not like I live in a region where online gaming is viable. Sometimes being innawoods gets really lonely.

Why is it not new player friendly? I read a bit about the game and it seems pretty exciting.

FEAR mp was God tier

More fun was had during that short event than I've had in this game for years

All of them in due time. Meanwhile you can play any single-player game and it'll be just like it was at release. Multiplayer games are inherently inferior. Just remember this.

There is no level cap, you're never going to catch up to the people at the top, and if you get to close, they'll just kill you over and over again because you lose experience when you die.

I will never have this much fun online again.

Does anyone remember the name of that mech game from like 1998 where you'd build these mini towers? I used to play it about 20 years ago at a friends and can't remember the name of it.

Lawbreakers.

It had none of that 60-pfffftHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

It's a pain to set up, but you can play on the Jap servers painlessly in the US.
The gameplay is almost all client-side so there's no lag. There's a community-made translation patch that's a bit of a pain to update. The proxy you need is right here
pso2proxy.cyberkitsune.net/bluepill/

The game is pretty decent, I enjoyed it for a month or so.

I want a Natural Selection remaster. The sequel scrapped pretty much everything I played original NS for.

one of the hardest mmo's in existence.
forget about notifications and scripted quests, you are thrown into the deep waters from the very begging and people are out to fuck you over. the difficulty is what makes this game so great, being a high level player with good equipment is very satisfying however - with that in mind even high level players are not done with the game, it keeps its difficulty level very well

this fact depresses me at least once a week

MGO2. The ratchet as fuck remake isn't really the same.

25 to life

also, there is no such thing as moving between worlds and teleporting out of bad situations. got stuck in a dungeon? good luck getting out. got into a fight with hundreds of orcs? your'e not going anywhere unless a friend comes to bail you out

Fucking Battlefield 1 on Xbox in Australia is a fucking joke.
60 servers with only 1 that's ever got more than 2 people in it, and they're a joke.

Defending keeps for hours in warhammer online

Rift. At it's peak (somewhere in the middle of Storm Legion) this was a genuinely good WoW-clone without the streamlined casualization that MMO has undergone.

Trion did everything in their power to fuck everything up though, and now the game is nothing but a P2W husk of former its former glory.

The only thing I take solace in is that at least the game's servers haven't moved off "low" for years now.

Why did they ruin this game anyway? It was pretty popular and then they put out a god awful patch and never reverted it.

Tera.
Dungeons were pretty good. For an MMO the combat was fun.

Isn't Tera still alive though?

Trion is legit one of the worst developers in the industry. They smothered ArcheAge in its crib.

Red Dead Redemption Online

This game was the shit and much more interesting than counter strike

Fuck Tera, Guild Wars 2 does the combat far better and Vindictus blows both of them out of the water in that aspect. Too bad no one plays it.

Nosgoth
Crysis 3

Lost Planet 2

Too bad Guild Wars 2 got rid of any semblance of combat strategy and just made everyone shitty dps

Dragons Crown.

Seconding this. Holding the line with my Black Guard while the two sides fought it out was great fun. It was far from perfect but it was Warhammer.

If only it hadn't been destroyed by EA.

It wasn't always like that. When they had Rift and essentially nothing else to worry about, they did some really good work.

Lots of content pooring out on a monthly basis, new dungeons, new souls, new areas to explore.

But something snapped around the time they expanded. They wanted to do more than JUST one MMO.

But they fucked up by making Defiance, Trove and turned ArcheAge into a cashgrab.

When all those failed they had to milk Rift for all it was worth.

Fuck I'm still mad.

Tribes Ascend
The only time I've ever enjoyed a multiplayer game.

Subspace Continuum

Sup Forums

noxcommunity.com/

Isn't arua rose a revival of that

BOTS
Everytime I'd say this, game that seemingly no one from Sup Forums has played.

Alien vs Predator 2.

The EVAC mode was godlike. No better feeling than being the sole survivor and trying to survive in the evac zone while all of the enemy team rushes towards you.

>borrow Saint's Row 2 from friend'
>try to play online
>remember the servers have been shut down

>Game is dead/closed completely
>But you still have the itch to play it
Is there a worse feeling in vidya

tremulous ;(

I played a ton of Tiberian Sun and Red Alert 2 (both vanilla) around 2004 to 2007, wonder if there's people playing anymore

>Gunz

Yep. I would love to see Gunz back and running, all the private servers are cancer. I don't even want that questing bullshit.

SMT Imagine was the first MMO I played. Didn't get far and don't remember shit about it but it looked pretty cool. Would play if it had a private server.

Tribes.
Quake 3.
Unreal Tournament 99/2k4.
Warcraft 3 (NON DOTA).
Command and Conquer Renegade/Renegade X.
Diablo 2 (HD remaster + balance patch soon?)
Jedi Knight 2/Academy
Call of Duty 4 (PC)
Dark Souls (PC)

This fucking game.
