Apologize
Apologize
i would but i cant apologize in 2.5 difficulty
No, if anything this is Sakomoto's way of apologizing to me.
are the amiibos even out yet? can somebody tell me where to get the amiibo data if they are out. can't find that shit anywhere.
But I knew it was good
I did nuffin wrong
Any way to remove the blur on citra?
The higher the resolution, the blurrier it is.
for what? I was looking forward to it
It's bad enough that it looks like I'll be hunting for Metroids the entire game but then the battles with them are so repetitive. Perhaps I should just go play Metroid Prime.
How is it?
Very good so far, just got the grapple beam. The gameplay is basically Zero Mission with a couple of things added, the world is fantastic and filled with things happening in the backgrounds. It's also pretty challenging
But I never said anything bad about Samus Returns.
I love memes that multiple people contributed to
There are other boss fights besides Metroids.
you fight different stage metroids plus some other things
HATE CIRCLEPAD
Otherwise it's good.
Amiibos and the controls are the only things that made me upset, so I still have nothing to apologize for.
I'll buy the physical copy if I see it in stores, gonna save inject all the extra stuff and keep playing the freeshop version.
Post yfw Nintendo announces an upscaled Switch version
o shit I'm sorry
I find it amusing that you keep shitting on him for MoM but somehow keep forgetting he also made the much beloved games before that one, nevermind the fact that MoM was a collaboration between him and TN.
I really feel this game would have been better as a 2D Metroid without the circlepad, designed like all the other sidescrolling Metroids. They tried too hard to make difficult boss fights with a lot of precision involved but the controls just don't work on the 3DS for that kinda thing. It's not a bad game but I think it's probably the worst 2D Metroid. I love that they're making the games harder though, just need the controls more precised/designed better
considering it's easy to pirate amiibo data, the only problem I have with the game is using the circle pad to move but I can see why they did it and even then, it controls surprisingly well. everything else is pretty damn good
The gameplay is all TN and it's good
Saki ruined the story. The only good came from TN
>giving TN credit for anything
If anything this proves Nintendo is responsible for the good gameplay
This would be good without the "I sleep"
"Real shit" hamfisted into it
We literally know what TN was responsible for
Do some fucking research
Plus
This proves nothing
Thus was also not developed in-house. This was developed by MercurySteam
this. I try to shoot in an arc when a metroid is shitting out those electric things, and I still somehow miss
Gameplay is shit too. Stop parroting this opinion.
He alone doesn't get the credit for Super or Metroid, there were a lot of people working on that title to make it good besides just him. On the other hand, he is pretty much single handedly responsible for the franchise turning to shit with Other M.
Feels like a great return to 2D Metroid but the pacing and enemy design seems off. Am I really expected to grind through 40 of these exact same "boss fights" while at the same time picking up power ups like they're candy? It feels like a great return to traditional 2D Metroid, but some things about it I don't get what they were thinking.
We literally know what Mercury Steam was responsible for
Do some fucking research
They were code monkeys for Nintendo, check the credits
Sakamoto wanted to make a 2D game despite hiring Tean Ninja, it was Team Ninja who pitched the psuedo-3d shit we eventually got as a compromise. And D-Rockets was also heavily involved with the direction and portrayal of the story.
Sakamoto was horrible during Other Ms development but acting like the other parties are innocent and had no impact on the games quality is silly.
which designs seem off? I think all the redesign were pretty good
Yeah, just give us dpad controls and 45 degree aiming. Being stuck in place to "free aim" is s garbage mechanic.
>Implying Sakamoto wasnt working very close with mercury steam literally whipping their asses Everytime they fucked up something
Not him but any enemy that required the rapidfire aeion ability pissed me off
>there's 3 powerups you can't get until after you get the baby.
>the only thing left to fight at that point is ridley and you just use your regular beam on him
>He alone doesn't get the credit for Super or Metroid
>Director on Super, Zero Mission, Fusion
Even with the Other M stain he still has a fantastic track record, hell he directed Balloon Fight too for fuck' sake.
>Am I really expected to grind through 40 of these exact same "boss fights" while at the same time picking up power ups like they're candy?
Pretty much
Although its been overhauled it's still fundamentally Metroid 2, and that's how Metroid 2 worked. Enter an area, go through the inner part of the facility to collect its power ups, then head to the Metroid breeding grounds and kill enough to lower the acid and reach the next area.
It's always been a weird and divisive game.
but you can still aim 45 degrees up and down when running, what exactly do you lose by having 360 aiming?
You can 45 degree aim while running if you tilt the control stick up
I'm only halfway through the game and haven't seen any of those. could you give examples?
There are gonna be rock enemies, turrets, and spouts that shoot flames later that can only be destroyed with the aeion ability.
I just found it weird how the metroid thing works in Samus Returns.
In the original game you kill enough metroids and the metroid queen thrashing around like a cunt causes the acid to drain.
In samus returns you have arbitrary chozo devices requiring you to kill and take metroid DNA and dump it into the machine which lowers the acid for whatever reason. This seems weird because why would Chozo encourage this?
45 degree aiming as in, hold a button. I just find the circlepad uncomfortable to use.
>This was developed by MercurySteam
metroid.wikia.com
Look how many Japanese names are there.
This is another Prime/Retro Studios situation.
In the Chozo Memories you see that they created the acid pits and drainage system to lock away the Metroids after they went wild.
You can only disable the system after exterminating the current area as a safety feature.
and then you get the power bombs and true to form you just use those when you're too lazy to deal with anything.
and I found using R and L uncomfortable in Super Metroid after getting used to it only bound to L in Fusion and Zero
you get used to it
what did Jose mean by this?
interesting. I'll have to wait to form an opinion I guess
So, what, the Metroids metamorphosing was an unintended thing the Chozo weren't expecting to happen?
Correct. They'll probably blame it on aeion
Chozo are just as retarded as space pirates by this point.
>look at Chozo Memory 10/10
>suddenly loud noise
>2d/10
WHAT HAPPENED
>anyone expecting anything to go wrong while experimenting
>in Metroid
fucking pessimists I swear
>reddit is complaining about the game not telling you about spiderbombing
HAHAHAHAH
The aeion mutated the Metroids into new forms, just like Phazon does. They were peaceful until that happened.
The Chozo aren't good at planning ahead.
...
YOU WANTED LORE, HERE'S YOUR FUCKING LORE FAGGOT
The memories seem to imply the X parasites were caused by the Chozo too.
They arrived, did a thing with the Hornoads and shit, suddenly X happened.
Then they made the metroids, worked fine, then they started metamorphosing
Then they locked the metroids away and then betrayal
The Chozo are clearly just as retarded with aeion as the space pirates are with Phazon.
Thoughts?
What am I looking at
I got the impression that they just found the X-Parasites deeper within SR388.
If their aeion experiments actually triggered the birth of the X-Parasites then the Chozo are comically inept.

AM2R is better. Kind of sad, really.
GENIUS
>implying existence as a sentient being isn't just attempting to suppress your primal instincts only to inevitably fail after tampering with power beyond your understanding because in the end, your still just an animal
look at mr know it all over here
They were doing something with the hornoads that looked like they were sucking energy out of them. I'm trying to figure the link between them doing this and the escalation to the X parasites.
So wait, if the acid doesn't actually kill the metroids then what's the point? Why bother if after draining the acid you can clearly see everything is perfectly fine down there and nothing was really bothered by the acid on the first place?
How the fuck is that a quarantine?
The after credits ending by the way is a weird hook to Fusion, but I sure hope they don't remake that one because it's still great, doesn't need a remake.
I followed AM2Rs development for like 8 years and was involved in the community, but I actually prefer Samus Returns.
Whether you blame Doc or Nintendo's C&D the latter half of the game takes a dip in quality. Serris and Genesis especially felt unfinished
No it isn't, AM2R is good but still amateurish in some places, meanwhile samus returns delivers on all front.
I assume that was just a rushed method and they were working on something better but then 2D/10 happened.
Metroids can't travel the stars, they can however get on someone's else ship and invade the galaxy.
The acid makes it so retarded researchers(there are a lot of them in the Metroid galaxy) can't reach the Metroids and thus bring them home.
At least this is my headcanon.
I mean, they went from being an apex civilization to utterly dead
I'd go ahead and say that at some point, they fucked up so bad anything less than "comically inept" wouldn't be enough to describe them.
>In the original game you kill enough metroids and the metroid queen thrashing around like a cunt causes the acid to drain.
I always thought that was just a weird earthquake that happens for no specific reason and in SR they gave it a real reason.
It's better than the latter honestly.
Shooting in any direction is better than being limited to 8.
You just have to get used to it.
Is it confirmed they were locking the Metroid away because they went wild? I assumed the implication was that they locked the queen away to keep her from the evil Chozo, and that's why he killed them
That's reasonable I suppose, except for the fact that in order to lower the levels you must interact with metroids
So even at the entrance "not in quarantine" level there are metroids for retarded researchers to find and steal
Which means it only stops things from getting out, not getting in
And even then it doesn't stop things from getting out because again, even above all the acid there are still metroids
>30fps 2D platformer
nah
It seems they only intended for the Metroid to stay in its iconic form. The assumption is that Aeion is just as much a problem as Phazon was, because the Chozo didn't take into account just how easily influenced Metroids are by outside factors and mutate any number of ways.
So the Metroid lifecycle into an Omega metroid might not even be natural at all.
But Aeion worked great and gave you super powers. Phazon just kills you.
Real talk now, are Fusion and Zero Mission the peak of Nintendo pixel art?
I'd put Wario Land 4 up there but due to its comical nature it's not as impressive.
Phazon also worked great and gave you super powers.
>metroid lifecycle is a byproduct of magic fairy dust instead of an interesting natural development that we just normally don't have the opportunity to see
delete this right now sakamoto
LITERALLY YELLOW PHAZON
Warioland 4 is great, fuck you.
But yes.
I love the way storytelling is handled in this game. Outside of the intro, there's not a single bit of text or dialogue, not even in the Chozo memories. This is how Metroid storytelling should be done imo.
Sakamoto learned his lesson.
search "amiibo unlocker"
GBAtemp has it
Wait fuck, I thought X ate metroids, not the other way around.
Is there some plot point I haven't gotten to yet that explains this
This is completely moronic and I refuse to believe it.
the Metroid battles are never repetitive, they do evolve and even the terrain changes for each battle
Metroids are apex predators. They were literally designed to eat X. They are immune to X infection.
