Used to play on a 720p projector when the PS3 and 360 were new and relevant. If you've got the space and the seating arrangement, its the comfiest shit.

just a personal opinion but its really good unless the game requires you to do a lot of reading. then it's not the best.

>projecting

My mate has a full on home cinema setup and was complaining that there's too much input lag for gaming. It's a 5 year old projector though so maybe they've made it better.

have both
I use my monitor to vydia, the projector to movies/shows.
I also have a rift.
Monitor is the best choice for gaming user

how long do the bulbs last?
I thought replacing them was 2/3 of the cost of a new unit or something crazy along those lines

If he was running HDMI from the source to his amplifier and then to his projector, that can cause input lag, speaking from experience.

projectors are fun but sadly my current apartment doesn't really have the dimensions needed to throw a good picture

You really shouldn't use it for vidya anyway though, latency for days my dude

Had one at uni which we played fifa on. Neighbours were megajelly.

they're pretty expensive, but they should last plenty long if you just use it to watch a movie occasionally

You should be able to see the spent hours in the projector's menu, could be something to doublecheck if you're looking to buy a used one

Dont have one, but I used to have a desktop with 3x big monitors and switched to a """gaming""" laptop a year ago because work/travel. I miss having big screens and was considering a projector because they're pretty portable.

Yeah it's set up like that so that must be why.

My PC is currently hooked up to a projector throwing 120" of 1080p goodness onto a screen.

It's lots of fun playing FFXIV on it, haven't tried any more demanding games though.

Back when I was a wee lad, my dad had a projector hooked up to the old windows 2000 and we'd play worms together.

its a pretty novel way of playing games but nowadays its pretty outclassed by those huge flatscreens.

>tfw my mom tried to convert my dad to get a projector instead of a TV
Thankfully his job came with a TV so she had no argument, but that could have been a bad 3 years of high school. She wasn't going to get a screen or anything, just project onto the plaster wall.

that doesn't work?

Have you ever used a projector on a plaster wall? It works but it's pretty shit.

You could have built a screen for like $20 with some scrap wood and some spandex from the fabric store you ninny
It'd even be acoustically transparent so you could stick speakers behind it for proper movie theatre effect

If my mom had any intention of having a screen she would have bought one.

YOU could have built a screen, since you are the one bothered by the lack of a screen.

But you wouldn't have, because you're a fucking ninny who'd rather complain about irrelevant bullshit years after the fact than every accomplish anything on your own.

That's an awful lot of projection, user. Maybe you should apply a little critical thinking when you read things.

you come up with this brilliant spandex idea or did someone else accomplish it?

I'm only stating the facts, user.
You laid it all out yourself in a single post: There's a million and one DIY screen ideas in home theatre forums, the spandex is just one of them.

Like I said, if she wanted us to have a screen she would have bought one. Use this statement and figure out why I wouldn't have built one.

>still blaming your mother for a thing that never even happened
>would have spent years, possibly decades grousing about the lack of a screen in highschool rather than manning up and building one

You're a ninny.

>bulbs
These things are made with LEDs lately, they are made to last years even with heavy daily use.

yeah he missed out on having a scrap wood panty screen for a projector he didn't have because of his ninnyhood, what a complete ninny

you're a faggot, my man, go berate some of your neighbors or relations for their perceived ineptitudes

You really have no critical thinking skills at all, do you? I'll spell it out for you in big letters so you understand:
SHE DID NOT WANT A SCREEN
WHETHER IT COST HER MONEY OR NOT

you sound like you're trifiling

>still blaming your mum for a thing that never even happened

Grow a pair already you fucking ninny.

Last (You), kiddo.

Anyone ever use any of those tiny projectors? Wanted one just to hook my phone or laptop up to and play movies on.

Why is this niggerfaggot flirting with me?

I used one for a while and liked it a lot. It was one of the short throw projectors so it put out a 130" screen from 18" away from the wall. The only issue I had was playing dark games in daylight, even with blackout curtains. Turning up the brightness made them look like shit. Great at night though.

>ninny
What are you, 60 years old?

This faggot still uses internet explorer.

I have a Benq W1080ST and the bulb is like $45 on Amazon and lasts 6,000 hours.

But I still don't use it that much for gaming becase I'm at my PC most of the time. It's good for movies, though.

i think this might be an underrated post

Maybe a year or 2

The shit ones with potato lumens are.

The good ones are laser projectors now.

>needing more than 3K lumens

Are you gaming in Salar de Uyuni?

>3000 lumen LED projector
source

>instead
I use both.
Projector is really awesome because of the large screen, running through some outside world or flying, doesn't matter, it looks great.
The bad:
-lack of contrast (unless you have your own 'batcave' forget playing during sunny midday, sure you can see something but you better not enter any dark places in game)
-needs proper room, setup sucks (obviously, you put big LCD monitor on the table and you're done, no need to affix shit on the ceiling and hang projection screen on the opposite side of the room, run long cables from your 'rig' etc..)
-1080 and 120Hz is somewhat affordable but if you aim higher you're going to pay A LOT (by Sup Forums standards) of money.
-sucks a lot of juice (which doesn't matter much because it doesn't run 24/7) but it also get HOT so some proper ventilation is in order
-advertised bulb times are somewhere between 2K-6K hours, the longer hours are usually counted using 'ECO mode' basically slashing the output visibly so the bulb lasts longer.

holy shit you are retarded

read again you faggot

Typing "I AM AN INCORRIGIBLE NINNY PLEASE MOCK ME" in all caps isn't helping you any.

...

I don't see how your personal book collection is in any way relevant, but thanks for trying.

Since you've clearly got free time, why not take up a productive hobby? Better than crying on the internet about things that nearly happened but didn't years ago and wouldn't have been a big deal either way.

oh wow, seems you have trouble reading as well as the one you were mocking. Holy shit. ur both retarded kids, I'm out.

COME BACK HERE, NANNY, I AIN'T DONE WITH YOU YET

According to this dude 4k projectors have a lot less input lag than 4k TV's.
