It's a meme game. any difficulty at the start is because you don't have the characters for the perfect aprty. once you do the game is easy but is just a tedious slogfest having to grind over and over just to be strong enough to do 1 darkest dungeon mission, then repeat the process.

I can't think of any attack that I can't counter in some way, but that's due to having good party compositions and not that webm abomination. I know what I am going to face whenever I go somewhere, so party is equipped likewise. Ex: champion weald? I'm definitely lugging in an occultist with damage debuffs, man at arms for all the mark guards, and a Hellion for backline murder. I know you're hell-bent on shitposting, but I hope this post helps someone else that needs it

I stopped using occultists because last time I played I got about 10 0-3 heals in a row. Started using vestal instead with healing trinkets, and it's so much more reassuring to have consistent 12-14 heals.

How far can I push a vestals heals anyway? I guess a +50% and a +30% healing trinket?

you don't need to push her heals. Better make her faster.

I feel like I do. I mean, she heals, what, 8 hp at max level? That's not gonna get me anywhere when enemies hit for at least 15.

the game tells you that characters are disposable. if one or even two characters die from a freak accident it isn't really a big deal because you can take their trinkets back to the hamlet. one character really isnt different from another unless you got really lucky with quirks.

now if ALL your party dies, that's the real problem since trinkets are the real lifeblood of your hamlet. unlike characters, if you lose certain trinkets you're shit outta luck.

darkest dungeon is really only seen as hard and an RNG fest because typically in games when characters die it's the ultimate failure. in darkest dungeon though it's just a minor setback, but people have a hard time rewiring their brain to accept that.

I actually don't like fast vestals, because if she goes first and the enemy hits afterwards, that's not good. And outside of judgment, she's not really solid in the offense department

Actually, you can get back trinkets you lost from retreats or wipes. You need to wait for a certain town event to happen, which opens up a boss encounter with an enemy whom against if you live, you get them back(only 8 at a time though). You don't even need to kill the boss, he retreats from the fight at the end of turn 4

Most of the time it's better to just dump them and get new ones.

Well, your task is to pull people from dead's door, it doesn't matter how much she heals. If she will be faster than other team members, you can save characters with DOT, before they die.

She has stun and judgement, both are really good. Vestal is most useful character in the game.

I won't lie against her usefulness, I run both the stun and judgment. The stun isn't very reliable, I usually find myself using it if judgment will tickle them and I want to try something, anything, or if I am stalling. Judgment is well, judgement. I mostly see her use in the group heal, which I'll gladly spam all day. With double heal trinkets, it's a solid 7 group wide with 14 crits here and there

Best trinkets for a Highwayman?
I liked to stack ancestors coat + crystal dodge and speed trinket for 54 dodge, but I'm wondering if that's a bit overkill and if I should replace the crystal with damage

Just put acc and damage, sun/moon ring. Dodge is unreliable, too much speed is bad.

I don't know what settings you have, but killing first row first usually means, you don't recover in the fight and got a lot of stress, losing control of the battle, blaming RNG. Also, putting two HM in first positions means you don't have better unit there.
