I still can't beat the oil level and its boss
Just get a fire shield bro
>Get to the third boss.
>Angry as fuck.
>Spend night in jail 'cause I punched my girlfriend.
Fucking gay ass 2D fag games suck.
Weak.
it is if you're rusted over
that aside all the first-timer normiemancers just can't deal with the fact that taking damage is pretty much inevitable and they arent actually required to blaze through the levels in under a minute
rushing when you still dont know the levels and/or how to stay on top route is how you get the fakehard
that said the crush deaths are fucking broken and dont belong in a sonic game, literally why the fuck am I more afraid of a moving platform than any actual damage dealing enemy in the entire game
The fuck did you just call me?
If you're out of options then just scum it:
1 - take note where it pops out for the first time and get 4 hits in for free
2 - stay at the farthest platform available to dodge lasers
3 - kill the shooty arms first
4 - boss is harmless
It's not hard, but there's a lot of bullshit in it.
If you haven't played a classic Sonic game in years you might find it a bit tricky. If you know them like the back of your hand the game is piss easy.
referring to the wrong guy you fucking bitch
>NORMIEMANCER.
THE FUCK DID YOU JUST CALL ME?
Taxman's Retro Engine is a lot less lenient about crush deaths then the original engines.
>get hit
>make 3 or 4 hits while invulnerable
>pick up ring
>repeat for literally every obstacle
Baffling that anyone could get "stuck" on anything. Only real threats are getting crushed by the sides of things because they never bothered to fix physics.
I'd call them retarded, but I think even a retard could beat this game.
It took me four or five tries.
Easiest 2D Sonic game.
I'd say it's easier than 3&K, however I have played 3&K to death and beyond so my idea of difficulty may be skewered when it comes to that but if I were to make a difficulty list it'd be.
1 > 2 > CD > 3&K > M
2 and 1 are interchangeable.
The hardest 2D Sonic games are the first two Game Gear games.
I was talking about just them two, but yeah the Game Gear ones are way harder.
The funny thing about Sonic 2 is that it's easy up until the last couple levels and then becomes bullshit.
Metropolis is the real slog of Sonic 2. Sky Chase is fine and Wing Fortress is easily cheesable by taking damage and going through propellers to skip half the level. Death Egg is all about how well you can get hits on the final boss.
>it is if you're rusted over
it really isn't
i haven't finished a 2d sonic game in like 2 years and i still got through it with 15 lives on the counter in 4 hours
>Spend night in jail 'cause I punched my girlfriend.
should have just been executed
I dunno man, played the genesis games for the first time only 3 weeks before mania and I was able to get a good idea of how sonic plays pretty easily. I think it just has to do with your perspective going in as the "gotta go fast" mentality will only to shit like this
>collide one pixel with the ceiling
>instant crush
I love your engine tax but come on
wing fortress as super sonic is the real cheese, you can basically fly over half of the level
Still amazed 8gag got game over 20+ times
It took me a while to get back into the sonic mentality after not playing sonic games for a while, but after that it got significantly easier. Don't know why everyone is moaning out the ass about the oil octopus, he only killed me once.
I'm a personal advocate for having him beaten within an inch of his life on the civilian level
dying is only OK in Dark Souls and even then you're supposed to lie about it
gamer newfags are the worst autistic
>that said the crush deaths are fucking broken and dont belong in a sonic game, literally why the fuck am I more afraid of a moving platform than any actual damage dealing enemy in the entire game
haven't played Mania but this happened in Sonic 1 all the time, failsafe for preventing clipping through the environment (you just die)
except it only works vertically
given the tech at the time and the way the game works, i can't think of any other compromise than immediate death
the first should be your last, unless you're incapable of learning
Glad I'm not the only one who noticed this.
>I can't think of any other compromise
Going through the platforms retard. A billion other games do this.
Oil octopus is only hard because of the weird insta-crushing death that happens when he pulls you down
It seemed like even if I jumped if I landed on the platform just as it hit the ground I died
so every moving platform pushed you into a wall
did you even think before you said that?
How can it push you through the wall IF YOU GO THROUGH IT?
Do you even think before you speak?
>die a few times
>figure out the boss pattern
>feel nice when beating boss
quite nice, my friends
If you can't do this use a Flame Shield.
It's funny. The only boss I really had a hard time with at first was the robo ninja in Press Garden.
the amount of fucking adults i've seen crying about it on twitter, it's crazy
I like how it took me 20 years to realize that Knuckles jumps lower than Sonic
I had someone tell me the other day that they got lost and hit dead ends.
I've tried and tried, but I just cannot comprehend how this is possible.
What on earth
I don't get that either, Sonic games are usually straight forward in level design, especially the first 3 games & Mania.
Also this is off-topic but is the classic crew in that Pokémon screenshot like a permanent thing for at least that season now or is it temporary?
This made me really fucking mad.
It's just for two episodes to celebrate the Anime's 20th Anniversary.
After this they'll fuck off and never be seen again until the 30th, 40th, and so on.
