It all went downhill once Yenn got B-L-A-C-K-E-D
It's not like without reason. They see it overhyped, they go in with false expectations (who plays a WRPG for the combat?) and then they shit on it because it gets more attention than >insert own goty here<
It's a great game, not a masterpiece. W2 was better
I used to shit on it relentlessly while everyone was praising it until people started literally parroting some of the nonsense I posted. Now I'm gonna try to do the opposite. Wish me luck.
name?
because it's shit and not a RPG
Steven
But w2 has even worse combat and plot.
I really need that yennefer porn
its one of the best rpgs and you know it
some whore working for BLACKED

Theres a lot of things in it that are just plain bad. Not even nitpicky things, just things that are bad
combat you're probably right but story not in a million years. Witcher 2 had focus on an actual plot and theme, not just good world building. Also the ending was miles better than 'fight the epic big evil'. The shorter lenghth and 2 views on the second chapter also helped the story a lot, meanwhile in Witcher 3 you just asked for Ciri the first 50 hours while doing hassles, then defended your castle, did some more hassles and fought the big evil. I know the stories of the hassles were good but overall my biggest gripe with W3
no shit sherlock
I actually love Witcher´s 3 combat. It´s the more fun i have had with one combat system since Dragon´s Dogma.
The story, also great... not to mention the attention to detail to some sidequests.
Also, how is it not an RPG by the modern definition of the therm? Sure, action oriented so ARPG but still RPG.
1/ You don't fuck with downgrades.
2/ Story is worst than tw1 and tw2.
3/ They still didn't figure out how to make an aRPG.
I never said it's not an RPG. Combat is serviceable but I can see how one is disappointed coming from a real Action game
Meh, it's over hyped. I've just started playing it recently, the combat is extremely simplistic for an RPG, the open world while big is almost entirely empty and lifeless, the voice acting is mediocre at best and the plot is quite generic and mostly forgettable.
It's worth noting that the open world in TW3 is a perfect example of one of the major challenges of creating an open world game. That challenge being content density, the developers decided to spread the content out to be more realistic, however this decreased density of content necessitated introducing a map that outright tells you where all the content is (primarily because if you didn't use the map and all the markers on it 90 percent of your gameplay experience would consist of running/riding through empty areas while occasionally bumping into a group or random monsters/bandits).
Oh yeah, also the equipment system is directionless and bloated. I see no point in having a million different versions of every weapon in the game that are only different by way of having slightly different stats based on loot level scaling. It's a system in desperate need of structure.
You'll only get vague answers like "it's shit" or generic statements you could apply to any game and it'd work because no one on Sup Forums actually plays games.
Holy fuck who is this?
And what is a real action game?
Plus it is supposed to be an action RPG not a real action game... just like, say Mass Effect is supposed to be a shoting RPG and not a real 3rd person shooter.
DMC, God Hand, Bayo, MGR etc
I know it's not supposed to be a real action game. In my original post I'm in favor of Witcher 3, just that it doesn't have the greatest combat system which some people hate because they expect something better for whatever stupid reason.
cause the gameplay is shit
>roll when you're not even about to be hit
whoever made this is braindead, but I appreciate the attempt
This is a meme, right?
Evelyn Claire
thanks
I bet that when her parents gave her that beautiful name they imagined her being someone great someday.
Right, i think i get what you meant now... Still i think that would be a matter of tone no? a DMC like battle system would seem kind of over the top on a game like the witcher.
Maybe an Assassins Creed/ shadow of mordor/ Batman would be a better comparison though in my mind the aim of those games is different...
I compare it to games more on the line of Skyrim, Dragon´s Dogma, Dragon Age or Dark Souls.
Compared to those i think Witcher 3 is pretty good and, while a little simple it lacks nothing.
You can parry, dodge, access magics and items quickly and the potion and oils system is pretty good. Plus, if you are under leveled the whole bestiary and tactics aproach is really a life saver.
I think it´s pretty balanced.
>porn stars using their real names
>game
walking sim and cut scenes
well is the only way to cover ground cause the walk speed during combat is fucking atrocious
> Be terribly bad at game
> Blame the game
Get good man...
>get hit without actually getting hit
i appreciate your attempt
there are failure mechanisms user
its a game you memeing or not
just because is shit doesnt make it less of a game
even my normie friend thought it was shit and dropped it pretty quick.
You'd have to be a shit-eating Sup Forums contrarian to say that Witcher 3 is a bad game.
I had more fun on lesser games, like Inquistion, but that his because of a preference for the style and a bias toward the serie.
Witcher is objectively a masterpiece of video game development. It's good on so many levels, massive in both space and content and even it's DLC on their own a could win a GOTY in any given year.
>Take a step
CUT SCENE STARTS PLAYING
>Want to trade with a merchant
CUT SCENE STARTS PLAYING
>Cut scene starts playing
CUT SCENE STARTS PLAYING
what a load of bullshit
alright then
What rpg is better than The Witcher 3?
I played so many, from Elder Scrolls to Persona and many more and I have not found one game which is better than The Witcher 3. With better I mean a great story with a huge OPEN world (yes, open, like you go into a house without loading screen *looking at you Elder Scrolls*)
the lenghts people go to hate the game
>lackluster combat
>limited RPG mechanics
>braindead "follow the quest marker" quest system
>Gwent doesn't mesh with the setting at all
So plenty of gameplay related reasons. Good writing and 10/10 dad simulator doesn't excuse them.

Dialogues does not equal cutscenes you dumb faggot. There are only few cutscenes in the entire game, and you will recognize them instantly from the low bitrate/resolution.
>a hitbox bugged/is plain shit
wtf I hate the entire exploration, atmosphere world building, characters, story and quests now. You know, the stuff you actually play this game for
>implying cutscenes are bad
>implying the controls are clunky
>not understanding a witcher has their emotions stripped through their transformation. also, not rating geralt's deadpan humour.
>implying ciri's perception of the story wasn't important for the player
>i'll give you that, the lack of any need for oils was annoying
youtube.com
there are lots of dialogs that dont stop your fucking game to do it
He's a soulscuck. That is the only reason rolling around like that would even make sense.
Samey boring combat for 80 hours.
Highschool tier humor.
Treats you like a retard.
Every single quest with the same mechanics.
Badly animated cutscenes.
Shallow RPG mechanics and progression system.
>Badly animated cutscenes.
This isn't a Andromeda thread though.
Literally red dit: the game.
Is Triss dirtier than Yen?!
It has a lot of flaws and people like to point them out because the almost unanimous praise glosses over them.
I loved the game and fully completed it twice, but it's fanboys wear blinder so people like to go after them.
Yes, but scenes like beating up Whoreson Jr. or Vesemir getting killed are almost Andromeda tier.
No. But she's definitely a psycho.
>few less polished scenes means that the animations in general are bad
wew
its ok, its only great if you have a huge boner for ass effect style relationships and dark age Europe for it to go anywhere pass just average
This. They already ignored the posts that listed the flaws in this very thread.
I love the game, but the bugs and glitches alone cause it to drop a point or two. This game is riddled with technical issues.
You are just saying that because she slept with her best friend´s boyfriend, who is also some sort of father figure to her while he was amnesic.
Not a rpg
>exploration
of what? bandit camps, monster nests and towns with the same exact vendors with the same exact items?
>story
Which is mediocre at best, has the worst villain ever conveiced for a game and has horrid pacing issues
>quests
99.999% of which are all following glowing red shit on the floor/air while geralt mumbles exposition to the braindead playerbase
Virgin: the post.
>Sup Forums criticizes a game: the post
I'm just tired of hearing everyone hype it up as the greatest RPG ever made. I'm sure it does fine at what it sets out to do, but I generally don't like RPGs that have you playing a preset character, and "dark gritty cynical fantasy" isn't really my thing.
>of what?
Of four varied environments and one of the largest and most authentic RPG cities.
>Which is mediocre at best
The writing and dialogue are top notch. No one cares about Eredin, but they do care about Geralt, the Baron, and Gaunter O' Dimm. Speaking of which, that story is also top notch, along with that of many of the side quests.
>Of four varied environments
Which are filled to the brim with nothing else but ubisoft-tier filler
I'm legit surprised CDPR didn't include radio towers too
>and one of the largest and most authentic RPG cities.
99% of which you can't enter, interact or meaningfully explore at all. The entire novigrad section in the main story is just you running the streets from point A to point B talking to people just so after 15 hours they can finally tell you that the mary sue you're looking for is in another castle
> so after 15 hours they can finally tell you that the mary sue you're looking for is in another castle
I was completely amazed at the stupidity of everything. THAT was the top secret Ciri information? She teleported out of the city? That's what no one knew about? There were like hundreds of witnesses who saw her. She killed 20 or so people on the way there, nobody knew about this incident?
I think the games are extremely mediocre in every department but graphics.(only for 2 and 3. W1 looks a N46 game).
My main problem falls with the fan base. Witcher has some of the most annoying closed minded zealous fan boys this side of Nintendo and Dark Souls, but at least Dark Souls is a good game.
>Which are filled to the brim with nothing else but ubisoft-tier filler
Filled to the brim with contracts, quests, and interactable NPCs. There's a location in Velen in which you can dissect an entire story about a guy hiding under his house, watching his neighbors get slaughtered above, before finally being found by invading troops. Not even a quest or anything. Just something you can find.
>99% of which you can't enter, interact or meaningfully explore at all
1% of Novigrad is still far, far more content than almost any other RPG city.
And this is why I don't think Skyrim deserves to be criticized as much as it is for the world being too small and everything being too close together.
