In all honesty, what went wrong here?

In all honesty, what went wrong here?

-smaller cds as a gimmick hurt game sizes/ports (1.5 gigs when ps2 was 4.6)
-gamecube controller button layout and c-stick hurt ports

Couldn't play DVDs, kiddy image, and Nintendo's arrogance with not reaching out to third parties.

A shame, as the system itself was great.

>Have a system as powerful as the PS2
>Handicap it by using a storage medium that has a max of 1.2GB
>Developers don't want to dick around turning their 4.7GB DVD game into something that works on multiple 1.2GB discs
>This results in a loss of many high quality 3rd party games, limiting the appeal of the Gamecube
Also both Xbox and PS2 had strong exclusive lineups, just like the Gamecube. But they had a better 3rd party lineup

MINI DVD

Had the worst 3D Mario and Zelda.
