What are you "pirating" exactly? You paid for the game. You can still break the terms of use, but that's not the same as piracy.

They already got your money, so I see no problem. I spent over $400 buying the complete Sandman and Lucifer comic books, but also pirated the digital editions so I could read them more easily and enjoy the artwork more.

at least in the late 90's and the early 00's, it was completely OK for an owner to get a crack to save the discs.
I even had some sort of problem with MW4, not being able to launch it without a crack. The tech support in fact even advised me to try a no-cd patch for it.

Honestly I'd say no. I had a game i couldn't play because it required a patch and/or a server connection not sure was it both but i contacted the support and they actually sent me the patch files and told me to dl a crack for it so yeah.
