Persona 5 is the best thing that has come from the SMT series. Nocturne and DDS are close tho.

is 5 better than 4?
if yes, why?
this
P4 is trash
...
gameplay-wise, its the best persona game:
dungeons aren't random generated
menu is easier and faster to use in battle
baton pass keeps the flow of battles fast
s. links give bonus abilities and other benefits other than just ranking up
there's more stuff but its more well made than 3 and 4
Persona 5 is easily the worst in the series.
Dungeon design, overall mechanics, and clarity.
Personally, I don't think is bad, is just that P5 improved and polished every aspect of it.
I don't like p5 but I like seeing SMT babies cry.
...
>turn based
lol
Dungeons are beautiful and more closely tied to the targets
Gameplay is expanded and much less repetitive and more stylish
Things to do around town are expanded too
Yusuke
Also, they address issues in story that might get brushed under the rug in other games because they have to do with the heroes (character flaws and the like)
>10 hour tutorial that isn't skippable in NG in the FIFTH(5) game of the series
P5 and Nocturne are some of the best MegaTen games, but DDS is not. Not to say it's bad, it's just not one of the better MegaTen games, it does have one of the better OSTs though.
>much less repetitive
Shido's dungeon says hi
>Persona is SMT
For fucks sake
Megami Tensei is not SMT and fuck AtlUSA for this meme
Combat is dumb
Exception to the rule given that his was the only one centered around backtracking
But Persona 5 is the 6th game
Worst out of Persona.
There are some real stinkers in SMT.
The hate I have for FINAL is way worse than my hate for P5.
Nigga
Persona 2 is ONE game. Just two discs
I'd agree if the last 100 hours of the game were as strong as the first 30.
No one gives a fuck about p1.
Motherfucker they didn't even come out at the same time
If they're the same game then so is FFX and FFX-2
>2 discs
>release 1 year apart
Persona 5 is better because their mascot wasn't as bad as teddie
could you be any more of an obvious troll? persona series is the worst SMT has to offer: an entire franchise for autistic friendless losers who wish to use it as a surrogate friend/relationship replacement.
>release 2 countries and 2 ports apart
persona 1 is objectively the best game
your on Sup Forums not facebook normie
>larping as a p1fag
user pls
It's better in most aspects, but it's not as good as a friend simulator. I don't mean that as a slight against P4, but it did do a good job of giving you some characters that were fairly likable and were also shallow enough that you could just have those fun group events and not have things be so serious or heavy. P5 has a great cast, I think, but it's a lot more plot-focused than P4 and it's rare that the group just hang out and have fun without it going into a characters tragic backstory or whatever. I also think that, of P3FES, P4G and P5, P4G is the only one that feels complete. The other two, as well as the original release of P4, felt like they were lacking something that made the whole thing not feel like it was neatly wrapped up. I think it might have been that P4G has those relaxing snowy January months that not only made it feel like you had really gone through a whole year and gave you time to reflect on that, it also made the timeskip to the ending a lot shorter so I didn't feel like I was robbed of getting to play through a full year. P5 is still great despite not having that feeling of completion though, one of my favorite MT games.
Devil Survivor 1 and Strange Journey, faggot.
Best Persona by far though, I'll agree on that.
I don't know how anyone could like P3/P4 more than P5. They're like mobage tier QUALITY in every aspect.
Whole game is tutorial. It's filled with stupid puzzles or times when game interrupted you just because it felt like it
I thought the thing with "You need to remove obstacles in real life to progress in palace" will be something good but no, you just watch the cutscen.
Final and P5 are both good though.
No, but it's Megami Tensei. Don't be so pedantic, do you get mad when people refer to Japanese porn as "hentai" too?
Look yeah, i know for a fact both those games were intended to play together and there was some memory problem which is why they split it. You can't play one of them and call it a day without dozens and loose plot holes.
You can play FFX and never play X-2.
The Virgin Personafag vs the Chad Mainline.
Atlus had to milk the shit out of the series just so as not to go broke. SMT just cant stand alone. If anything SMTfags should thank Personafags.
Shido's dungeon was my favorite of the whole game. I don't get the hate people have for it. The space station was the shit one.
They were pretty new to jrpgs when they first played them I guess.
What's wrong with 4A?
so? Persona used to be autoban on sight before moot went full normalfag. Sup Forums never allowed any casual games of any kind pre-habbo.
What level should I be for Palace 7 (Decembers) boss? I'm at 58 and doing ok thanks to reflect physical but I'm not really dealing much damage, maybe 220 per turn thanks to needing to buff/debuff and heal. On hard.
Hey man, it's my favorite one.
I think P3 has a better party and OST. P5 was much more fun to play.
>Persona used to be autoban on sight
Lmao
it's not our fault most of the world is too casual to handle Shin Megami Tensei. No compromise for casuals.
Incorrect. Raidou is the best thing that has come from SMT.
Final has the worst dungeons in SMT
I am a p1fag.
The games after p1 are considerably worse.
Just because you never gave p1 a chance doesn't mean its bad.
P5 is the weakest in the series.
1/10 bait made me reply
>14 year old protag
>law and chaos are straight up bad ends
>neutral put on a pedestal
>anime tropes galore
>2d combat
You're fine. Fuse Hassou Tobi Meme Man as soon as possible. I'm assuming you have Strength maxed?
Strange Journey is not mainline user, its farther away from mainline than persona.
Literally every aspect of Raidou is trash.
>being this new
Call of Duty, Halo, WoW, Gears of War, and many other games also instantly earned you a permaban, newfag. Lurk moar.
The only thing that P4 did better were the events with your friends.
I feel like P5 kind of blew it in that part.
>I like shit
Good for you. Even if you like dungeon crawlers more than dating sims Persona 1 is far from good.
>hating IV:A
I gave Persona 1 multiple chances. It's a shit game.
>Shido's dungeon was my favorite of the whole game.
You have to have flat out garbage taste. Casino was objectively better with more varied events and even throwbacks to Nocturne. You do the same exact motherfucking shit in the ship palace like 5 times until it ends.
Just get Repel Phys off of Girimehakala and put it on every Persona and you won't have to worry about level. Speaking of which, they should have made the HD model with this design instead of the two-legged one.
SJ is mainline and so is Nine and If. Devil Summoner is exempt because it leads to a full series I guess
shin-megamitensei.jp
I doubt that shit real seriously, hombre
"Our games don't need to get better, people need to get better at videogames! Even if we have to go broke! Git gud world! Money is useless!"
Just look at Dark Souls, they are hard af but people like it anyways, do you really think is because its more anime-like or because is autistic?
False.
The Japanese poll for the best SMT sound track included the following games.
>SMT I
>SMT II
>SMT III: Nocturne
>SMT: Strange Journey
>SMT: NINE
>SMT IV
>SMT IV: FINAL
and I think that was it.
.
It does, but it has the best combat, a great OST and the Demon characters are all great. I'm not saying it's amazing, but it is good.
>Also, they address issues in story that might get brushed under the rug in other games because they have to do with the heroes (character flaws and the like)
What the fuck are you talking about?
>what is call of fatlus
Lmao
>play nocturne
>have fun
>get my STR up and beat all the kapla dungeons
>game freezes on the final boss
>80 hours of meaningless progress
I am NEVER playing a SMT
Genuinely did not know that, thank your for educating me.
>they brush away character flaws
What?
same to you kiddo
K, you have terrible taste and honestly aren't worth arguing with
It has its problems, but the music (PSX version) and general feel of the game was great, and I liked the "normal world gone mad" thing, as well as the alternate reality and even the plot, really.
>5chan
almost no one remembers this
>souls games
>hard
no, they are hard for your average normalfag who doesn't play video games. souls games are very easy. you want a hard game look at i wanna be the boshy, kaizo mario, or pic related.
Only the combat and loyalty system are trash, and the latter is at least not as bad as it is in Soul Hackers.
>there are people who think P5 is bad because they don't like the characters, story, and or music
did you all forget there is actually a game behind all that and its an improvement over 3 and 4
Those are just the facts of life when your a yuro, boyo.
>B2 is voted the best track in IV
Nips have good taste sometimes.
youtube.com
>P5 has a great cast
Most of the cast were either dull or boring and the lack of interplay between then REALLY hurts them a lot. There's a character that appears far too late into the game that you don't even have tie to complete her SL on the first playthrough unless you're articulate and drop everything else for her.
> I also think that, of P3FES, P4G and P5, P4G is the only one that feels complete.
The second half of the game is blatantly rushed where shit just happens without any proper build up or conclusion, Goro's entire character is a complete fucking mess.
>14 year old protag
He's only a bit younger than Demifiend and like 4 years younger than Flynn.
>law and chaos are straight up bad ends
>neutral put on a pedestal
Well yeah, 4/A explored Neutrality, just like Nocturne explored Chaos and 2 explored Law.
>anime tropes
Granted.
>2d combat
My boi
These are just poorly designed.
But then why play Persona if not for the characters. If you wanted good Atlus gameplay you'd go for mainline or EO.
The one thing you should make sure you have at the very least is the strength arcana at max level so that you can fuse over your current level in exchange for yen. Nab yourself a good Siegfried and Trumpeter, they're both great to use in P5 at that point.
Also there's a method you can use to make Personae and then use sacrificing others to make them stronger. Just something to keep in mind if you want to be broken as fuck.
Plus the characters, story, and especially music are also all improvements over 3 and 4 anyways.
IV:A has good combat and nothing else, it or IV are the worst mainline games.
SJ was called "Shin Megami Tensei IV: Strange Journey" but it was decided since it didn't take place in Tokyo it shouldn't be numbered.
>Palaces are dissapearing after you steal treasure
>Enemies very quickly become weak as you level up
>Okumura's palace
It could've been better
IIRC the requirements for being SMT over plain Megami Tensei is that you just need to follow the basic gameplay formula.
Apparently, the only reason SJ wasn't a numbered game at all was because it wasn't Tokyo centric.
P1fag here, you're just wrong
P1 is decent but it's not the best Persona game in the series at all. Story is fine but it's basically 70% of SMT (P2 did a better job in story) and gameplay is good but nothing special. Music is great though
>P5 is the weakest in the series.
>it's another "REEE it's the new one and more popular so its bad" episode
>tfw P5 could have been GOAT if it wasn't moralfag shounenshit
you're a tryhard
It's probably the overall best persona, 2 has easily the best story but the gameplay brings it down, but even then it still has it's problems. Like every persona it starts to lose steam later on.
No. P1 is.
In terms of gameplay and prsentation? Yes
Story and character wise? Its among the weakest
Did you forget that this is a JRPG where you need to actually be engaged story and cast in order to give a shit? Hell after a while I just really wanted to keep playing the game and didn't give a shit about the characters and story whereas in P3 I tredged through the imperfections of its gameplay because I was engaged with the characters and the story whereas P4 was the best of both worlds
You mean the 30-40h of gameplay that's hidden behind 60-70 hours of social sim and story cutscenes?
>Reeeeeee Im so autistic, that this shit actually bothers me reeeeee
Fuck no.
p3 > p2 (remake) = p5 > p4 > p1 (remake)
smt 3 > smt 4 > smt 2 > smt 1
The problem with Persona stories is that besides P3 they never feel like they're built around a climax; that they just keep going until they find a place to shoehorn a villain.
Apparently that was actually how P4 was written; which is why despite the game almost being entirely about Death like P3 it's apparently about "Truth".
>Most of the cast were either dull or boring and the lack of interplay between then REALLY hurts them a lot. There's a character that appears far too late into the game that you don't even have tie to complete her SL on the first playthrough unless you're articulate and drop everything else for her.
I found them to be inoffensive at their absolute worst, and even the most boring of them felt a lot more interesting than some of the more boring characters in P3. They had good chemistry with one another, the problem was it barely ever showed itself outside of Mementos, but Mementos was just boring in its own right so I would just get in and out as quick as I could. It's a side effect of having it be more plot-focused and less SoL focused, which I don't think is necessarily a bad thing, but the Mementos dialogue should have been better implemented.
>The second half of the game is blatantly rushed where shit just happens without any proper build up or conclusion, Goro's entire character is a complete fucking mess.
I was talking about P4G, not P5. I would also disagree that it's blatantly rushed, I do think it was rushed, but not to such an extreme as your saying.
