Post your absolute favorite indie game
I'm still mad the sequel is never going to happens
Best fighting game ever created.
Other indie devs can't compete.
Cave Story
Freedom Planet
Shovel Knight
Crypt of the Necrodancer
Skullgirls
Castle Crashers
La-Mulana
Guacamalee
Dustforce
Noitu Love 2
Lovely planet

psssh , nothin personel Larian
Bloody checkers its literally the dark souls of checkers.
Shame its only on xbla
Good music too
FTL
...
...
this, until Larian becomes a AAA company and make SJW games.
People are still making levels for this shit!
Factorio
...
This is the best MMO I've played in a long time but most people will not be able to get past the visuals. Atleast the UI overhaul comes out soon.
>Countless skills that intertwine and offer unique mechanics and benefits
>Mix match two combat skills for tons of combinations
>Small dedicated community where everyone knows eachother and veteran 50 year olds are constantly available and excited to help you
>Dying is a skill and unlocks story details and a new respawn option
>Animal Forms have their own unique abilities NPCs that will only speak to animals
>Druid allows you to turn into multiple types of birds with different small benefits (owl with nightvision for better foraging at night)
>To be a Druid you have to sign an oath that requires you to answer natural disasters that can happen at any time, cutting of combat EXP and forcing Druids to come together to beat the event
Just lots of fun ideas, only issues is the dev team is only 2 people. If the Steam release goes poorly I don't think they'll make it, but god I hope they do.
Shovel Knight is an obvious choice. Rock solid base game, and two great expansions with a third on the horizon. I paid full price and I feel like I got a steal with how much content they put into this.
Darkest Dungeon is up there too. I was really jonesing for some unforgiving dark fantasy when I picked it up and it scratched that itch perfectly. Havnt played the DLC yet.
Epic Battle Fantasy series gets honorable mention. Really the games are pretty good but nothing amazing, but to see the guy go from newgrounds flash creator to basically a one man studio is pretty great. Got to give him credit for that alone. EBF3 on newgrounds back in the day was my jam.

Spelunky is a game I often come back to for some runs
i like the more autistic entries
like factorio or from the depths
Never liked Aquaria, movement mechanics weren't fun and the map design was dull. Good visuals but Metroid-style games tend to be platformers for a reason, it's more fun than just weightlessly floating around.

It's not the most mechanically deep RPG out there, but it's the one that's affected me the most.
Especially lisa the pointless, even though that's a fangame, that's quite possibly one of the top 10 games I've ever played.
...
I'd have to say this as well.
I love my procedurally-generated autism soothers. Give me random dungeons and loot that restarts every time and I'm as happy as Larry.
that one looks so cool
too bad it never got ported to consoles
...
works on a potato pc though
it's from the era where optimization was still cool
surprisingly good fighting game
Unknown ones?
Bleed 1 and 2 are excellent run and gun games, more of a bossrush than something like traditional Contra games, but still great and not that many games come out in this genre that are not just platformers with guns.
Super Cloudbuilt is a 3D speedrun platformer, what 3D Sonic wishes to be.
Freedom Planet was the 2nd best Sonic game before Sonic Mania.
Valdis Story: Abyssal City is great metroidvania, I really liked the combat system and skill-based rewards on bosses.
Contrast was fun platformer with shadow gimmic, too bad about We Happy Few.
Noitu Love 2 Devolution came out before most of the popular indie darlings, it's a game where you control your character with a cursor, but at the same time you can do dodge moves via keyboard. it's weird but works.
Orcs Must Die! was great, had pretty good humor and at least had semblance of balance without DLC, OMD2 threw everything to the trash and replaced it with co-op.
Slain: Back from Hell can be called a story of redemption, game came out in piss-poor state, but was remade and became great 2d platformer.
Basically, I really fucking love platformers and indie games deliver, while only Nintendo and Sega do it with big budget.

Not entirely indie I guess, but I have like 200 hours in Volgarr the Viking.
Thoughts on Indie Pogo?

Any good recent ones? Dragon Myth was one I liked.
Please someone upload this game to Mega, it's from the Talos Principle writer
I know at least one of you indiebros has bought it
why would i rate your favourite game?
i just wanna check out good games
>novice
Where's the fucking sequel Ian?
>Winter 2016
>Summer 2017
>When it's ready
God damn it with all these delays the campaign AI better not be garbage like it usually is in these kinds of games.
This thread would be better during a sale.
It's not the best, but Fran Bow deserves a mention.
Went into it blind recently, it's one hell of a ride.
If only the dev team was bigger than 6 people and a half-eaten gummy snake, this game would be pumping updates and DLC every week
>Noitu Love 2
My nigga. I love Konjak's work. Have you ever tried Legend of Princess?
I felt like it got less and less creepy as it went on, but I loved that it was so ambiguous. I should replay it sometime to see what I think of the ending now
Even as a fan I barely cared when they recently revealed a new class the shieldbreaker. I mean.., come in guys. There is slow and then there is slow. I dont really care that much anymore. Should have struck while the iron was hot. (Can you say that in english)
New beat'em up called Fight'N Rage just came out yesterday. Havnt played it yet but it looks really fun if you used to like games like Streets of Rage or Final Fight.
>tfw Iconoclasts is content complete
>(Can you say that in english)
I've only ever heard that expression in American TV shows.
Me too.
holy shit THIS is what the game looks like? lmfao well now I know why so many people praise this retarded game
The beginning was definitely the best part of it, but I liked the little hints throughout the rest that not everything was right.
Personally, I think that She died in our reality, but lived on or something? I'm still confused how the realities and shit work, but she's probably in one of those, depending if Leon was crazy or not.
A game about twitter or pokemon I think
>Iconoclasts is content complete
LIES
Does that mean it's coming out soon?
Uh thats why I said english not american dummy never reply to my posts again unless you get the jizz of things
Ori and the Blind Forest
My weakness.
Who made this one?
What? Really? When?
aquaria wasn't that great
It's fun little game
Soon:
>absolute favorite indie game
I don't know. Perhaps one of
One Way Heroics+.
Dwarf Fortress.
Or Elona+.
I just really like Metroidvanias and wish there were more of them being released.
>Hollow Knight
>Rabi Ribi
>An Untitled Story
>Bunny Must Die
>Guacamelee
>Valdis Story
Those are all the Indie Metroidvanias I've played, in order from best to worst. Valdis Story is still a solid 7.5/10, though.
Should I play Divinity Original Sin 1 before 2?
Or rather. Is there any reason to play 2 before 1?
FLĂ„SHYN
Easy to pick up, tough to master and great fun.
Fuuuuuuuuck. It's almost starting to feel real!
Does anyone remember the earlier build that hangs in the desert?
This is the GOAT indie game. There is none better. I also loved Axiom Verge.
It has a unique concept that fits the setting and builds challenge.
As we're talking about it, check out The Iconoclasts. I've been following it for a few years and it looks like we're stating the final touches before release.
Here's a playable demo: konjak.org
Does Subnautica count as Indie? I'd assume so since the dev team behind it is about as big as the dev team behind Binding of Isaac and Starbound.
Valdis Story
Darkest Dungeon
Dungeons of the Endless
Cloudbui-
Lis-
Uhh, Lone Survivor?
Damn dude, you and I have like opposite metroidvania taste. Valdis had the best combat so I like it the most. Hollow Knight was atmosphere and shit which is cool but comes second to good combat.
I loved this one
Hollow Knight's combat was excellent, and the high difficulty also made it more fun. I actually enjoyed most of the dreamworld fights (except for Dung Defender's).
It was ok but it was really simplistic. I enjoyed the character building and combat in valdis much more.
My nigga.
Astro Port is one of the only indie devs I trust that has never once made a bad game. Sure, they'll make an okay game with flaws, but most of the time they'll pump out pretty cool, if a bit niche, titles.
Cave Story, forever and always.
Mystik Belle is a mediocre one if you haven't tried it. Salt and Sanctuary kind of counts as a metroidvania I guess? It's more accurately described as '2D stole everything from DaS'.
Is that some motherfucking crustacean Krushers???? Who main one shot johnny
under defeat is better m8
They really need to nerf him.
Surprising, i absolutely love zeno clash, but i hate zeno clash 2
I lost my boner for this because I thought it was a tycoon game about making anime and it turned out to be nothing like that at all. Not the devs fault I guess but still.
