The last time Americans made an EDF it was shit though, hopefully this doesn't turn out the same. I also hope they have a sprint option like in EDF5, plus a 180 turn button.

Not sure how I like the soldier designs. They all look so similar. But the exo skeleton power suit kinda thing they got going is sorta growing on me. Obviously the wing divers exo suit will have a function, but I wonder if theres a function on the other character classes?

Also hopefully they keep that b movie cheese the Japanese ones have. The last american made EDF tried to be more serious with it, and just hurt the overall game.

The narrator definitely is taking it a little too seriously. But the music felt alright, and the visuals were bright and colorful which is a good sign

So I'm just hoping that the corniness is still there, and any "serious and gritty" war talk will be an over the top kinda serious. So over the top tough guy talk that it'd be hard to take seriously

I'm genuinely optimistic.

To me it feels like a modern B movie as opposed to a fifties-sixties B movie like the other ones. Generic, nonspecifically grim dialogue delivered in an overly serious voice while dudes in video card advertisement power armor walk slowly forward. Take the voiceover from that trailer and slap it over the trailer for one of those Asylum shitfests like Atlantic Rim or Independent's Day and I doubt you'd notice a difference.

Americans aren't making this game though. Yukes is a Japanese dev that made wrestling games and the PS2 Berserk game

Technically. EDF5 is the mainline series done by Sandlot while Iron Rain is a spinoff by somewhere else.

It's honestly probably just another studios interpretation of EDF. I doubt itt'l be drastically different like the last EDF spinoff.

Other spinoff being Insect Armageddon? I was quite disappointed with that one. EDF's formula is pretty simple when you think about it so hopefully it's as you said, nothing drastically different.
