Sonic Chronicles the dark brotherhood is such a flawed game... The soundtrack and animations are horrible. It is graphically ugly, some parts of the plot and some dialogues were shit. I don't blame those who hate this game, it was an audiovisual mess. But I really enjoyed it despite of it's flaws. The maps are not big, but exploration was fun, unlocking new abilities to get into new places was good... The combat gameplay was pretty normal, but doing team attack was great. And some of the dialogue choices added fun to the game, especially when you could flirt with Amy. And Chao garden. Ir wasn't the full Chao garden but it is something... And the side quests were good! They weren't repetitive. It's a shame that Sega doesn't make Sonic spinoff like this anymore. A new Sonic RPG with those peoblem fixed would be a great Sonic game

I also enjoyed playing it, it's a shame I couldn't upgrade the chao since no one I knew also played it.
What sucked even more though was the cliff hanger ending, "oh don't worry we'll kick eggman's ass in the next game"

I wonder if Chronicle's will ever be revisited again? It'd be nice to see it again, but I have doubts that it'll come around anytime soon, especially with this Penders thing. I don't know who he is, but whoever he is seemed to ruin a lot of Sonic stuff.

Penders was one of the Sonic Archie comic writters. He sued Sega for using Shade, Ix, and part of a plot he wrote, in Sonic Chronicles without his authorization. He won. That is why we will never see a sequel. And that is one of the many reasons he is so hated

I wish there was a place that collected all the dialogue trees in the game. Seems like the only interesting part is Sonic being able to be either a full asshole or a romantic charmer to Amy.
I was 11 or 12 when the game came out and I unironically enjoyed it. All the callbacks to older games were pretty cool, and unlocking new special moves and combinations was fun.

It was fun to be a romantic charmer with her, and then finding out her 'boyfriend' didn't exist was pretty funny.
Penders didn't win against Sega. The case was dismissed multiple times and due to the statute of limitations he can only re-file a new suit if they release another Chronicles game with similar concepts as the original.
So you're right that we'll never see a sequel, but not exactly for the same reasons.

I was thinking the more action adventure ones since running around as Sonic in a Vesperia like game would be really fun.
If it were turnbased though I'd rather a mario & luigi style game with sonic and tails though.

The story felt like Ken Penders Archie and the sound design all over was vomit. The ending is also just fucking strange with Sonic and Tails going on about the different employees at Bioware talking them up and such. Also it ended on a cliffhanger which never resolved.
