>new tag system and gem system gives more variety, creativity, and overall flexibility than any other MvC game
>online gives quick connections, rollback netcode keeps things from stuttering, and the interface lets you get back to fighting asap
>its failing because it doesnt have enough fanservice
MvC:I made me realize that fighting games are very niche, and are probably dying. People that actually take them seriously and enjoy getting better at them keep them alive, but casuals are needed to actually make a profit, and if you can't mass appeal to both then your game fails. it's near impossible due to those being conflicting ideals. It's a shame that that's where we are.

this game is a great lesson is judging a book by its cover much like rainbow six when it was dead in the first year until exposure
Found the Capcom shill.
Tell your bosses that we want a new Megaman game.
Casuals should always be the target audience since they will grow to tryhards. Appealing to tryhards only stagnants the series. See +R vs Xrd.
yeah except the difference is mvci has good gameplay and siege has combat comparable to morrowind's dice system in terms of hit registration
It doesn't have anything to really draw me in user. I honestly want to like it because the game is apparently extremely fun but considering the Story mode, the inconsistent art style that goes from Great to Ass, the dialog, the VAs that feel like they don't want to be anywhere near this game, and the fact they shrank the roster so much it makes MvC 3s look amazing. All that with no arcade endings and the OST makes me nit want this game, hopefully they'll fix everything in a few months.
But Morrowind didn't have problems wit hit registration. People had issues with dice rolls that followed hitting or getting hit.
dawg are you retarded?
>do shit for marketing purposes over pleasing fans of the previous installments
>fans of previous installments get mad and don't want to buy your shit
Who would have thought?
The game registered every hit that occurred, some of them were calculated to have been avoided because of player's and enemy's stats.
Mahvel is known as a fanservice fighting game series with questionable balance.
If the roster and presentation is bad it doesn't really matter how good the underlying gameplay is since that's not why people buy capcom vs games.
It's a shame, but the whole thing could have been avoided if capcom put a little more money into making the game not look like ass in previews.
>Fans ask for things
>Don't give fans what they want
>Game fails
Common sense, Op.
fighting games are dead because the communities around them encourage playing cheap and shun anyone with genuine skill
The game is good, but I hate that the Infinity Stones take a character slot making the game 2v2s.
Not a huge marvel fan but what is this gem shit about?
>no wolverine
ha
I think you might have brain damage.
>it's near impossible due to those being conflicting ideals
It's actually not
>Make good gameplay with 'functions'
>Paste fan-favorite skins over them
Gameplay only matches character archetypes about half the time anyway
the preorder bonus was bad
They look like easter eggs
Collectors edition shit does not look how people expected. Stones look like cheap plastic Easter eggs.
The very expensive($200) collectors edition comes with some figurines and a box with replica infinity stones.
The stones look like bargain bin light up easter eggs and can't be removed from the box.
It's almost as bad as the estus flask collectors bonus from darksouls.
Also the Figurines were not worth $100
whoever punched chun-li in the face must be executed
it is a fucking crossover game of a franchise fwith crossover and fanservice as it main selling point. the gameplay have always been bullshit. but if the roster in shit it dosn't matter if the eSports retards like it. it will sell like shit.
Good art direction and good roster is what attract people to fighting games in the first place. you were not the autist who cared so much about gameplay when you were younger. you got attracted by the characters and THEN you stayed for the gameplay now shut the fuck up and watch this game flop. especially with how DLC heavy it is going to be.
People is also full capcom's bullshit DLC tactics there is already 12 season 1 dlc characters on steam server database.
Isn't Chun-Li regularly getting punched in the face by many people though?
I think 2 people to a team works better with the new tag system, and the stones are super fun and can make a big difference in playstyles. I've been really enjoying the time stone.
>MvC:I made me realize that fighting games are very niche, and are probably dying.
Nope, fighting games are doing better than ever and this was just a fuckup among them. Gameplay is great but for a game like this where the focus has been the characters it's lacking in that department, and people have become less interested in it due to that. Only people who stood around are those in it for the gameplay which thankfully is what saved it along with Capcom's support.

Ultron Sigma's theme is pretty good imo
This. VS series (ever since Children of the Atom, which wasn't even a crossover) was flashier and easier younger brother of Street Fighter games.
JUST Li
>capcom's bullshit DLC tactics
This too. The fact that people tolerate this shit is pretty awful.
Its one thing for in-game fighters to punch Chun-Li in the face. Having out of universe figures punch her in the face such as CEOs, terrible artists, and terrible statue creators is another story entirely.
Are people really just going to accept getting umvc3 characters sold back to them, when they put vergil, wesker, ammy, iron fist, and whoever else they decide to rehash? How can people swallow that?
Why is literally everything about this game other than maybe gameplay so shoddy? Just look at the voices; you have the same voice actors as mvc3 giving worse performances.
Concept art looks nice at least
It's almost like people liked the mechanics MvC2 and MvC3. You say all of this shit about depth and complexity, but that's not actually why I play Marvel. Don't get me wrong, I must have wasted like half of 2012 learning how to do new combos in UMvC3, but that's just it. I don't want Marvel to be balanced. I don't want it to be just another Street Fighter, but with airdashes. If I wanted a "balanced" game with somewhat similar mechanics, I'll play some anime airdasher. This is a common failing of new fighting games. Balance is more important than actually making the game fun. I love my fucking broken Phoenix setups as much as I love broken Rei juggles in Hokuto no Ken. Card games also have this problem, as every fucking game wants to be a Magic clone now. Say what you will about Yugioh, but it at least has insane, explosive combos. Not every game needs to have every character be viable in a tournament setting. The Japanese think Marvel is a party game anyway. I don't think Infinite will change this.
I'm actually convinced Xrd is only doing well because SFV is so disappointing. I like it and all, but I can't imagine a game growing as much as GG did without Capcom majorly dropping the ball, kind of like how Tekken reigned dominant when Capcom had SF on hold for 10 years.
Marvel vs capcom has always been reused assets the game the experience.
The problem this time is that they didn't reuse enough assets since people care a lot about the characters that got cut.
Trying to market the MCU instead of fan favorites was a massive mistake.
Unless you meant people getting sold those characters as DLC in which case that would be disgusting.
>flashier and easier younger brother of Street Fighter games
They let the Americans help them make it and the suits from Disney don't care about making an appealing fighting game, just shoving in the MCU characters.
Yes, I mean mvc3 veterans getting sold as DLC, which I'm pretty sure is going to happen. Why else would relevant and popular characters like Ammy (Okami remaster) and Iron Fist (the tv show) not return.
mortal kombat x sold 5 million copies but you will just say it don't matter right
Why didn't they just make the story mode like this with stills and textboxes and VA?
>and Iron Fist (the tv show)
user...
>and if you can't mass appeal to both then your game fails.
Yes. Fighting games right now are superb, good gameplay and netcode are axiomatic of the genre. Even western games like MK and KI aren't awful fighting games even if they're not as good as the Japanese games. So presentation, music, casual features, robust additional modes, expansive casts, etc, are all expected if you want sales -- and even then it's a crapshoot (GG had the whole package and only sold like a million or so spread over 3 versions).
>it's near impossible due to those being conflicting ideals.
No it isn't. Now whether that game that can accomplish these things is successful or not remains to be seen. DBZF will be an interesting experiment if nothing else.
They wouldn't have known it was bad during development
If they actually do this I expect people to drop this game like a hot boulder even harder than it already was.
Not even wallet warriors should want to shell out for that.
this si capcom USA attempt to make a big espectacular fighers for Tv eSports transmission. there's a video that leaked last month that shows that they are more worried about eSports money than anything else. you won't find the video on Yt because capcom will instantly take it down. it is a video to be used as an proposol to sponsors and tournament organizers.
also I hope you are ready for MCU characters with new movies being top tier
Here is a link to the video

The static character select and win screens make me want to vomit.
He's not entirely wrong. Chain combos, no matter how long, are inherently easier than SF links. I'd rather learn a 10 or 20 hit combo that's mostly just variations of AAAAB236CAABBB236AB than a 1f link in SFIV that requires me to immediately change timing for a cancel after the link. Requires much more patience and deliberate motion.
Is this what Morrigan's true form looks like?
That would be too much like an anime VN for normalfags.
I'm not convinced really. I've been following posts on other forums to figure out how successful Capcom would be, and I'm pretty sure there would be plenty of bootlicking fans who'd still buy it.
i know Max said they should be released free, but as if Capcom would do that.
>Xrd is doing well
Why are weebs so delusional
I don't actually get your point. Are you saying that MvC:I is too much like Street Fighter, because it isn't. It's even more bullshit over the top nonsense then 3 was. You can switch to your partner mid move. That alone gives crazy combo and mixup potential. The Space Stone locks your opponent in a box and forces them to eat your mixups without letting them run away, and the Life Stone can bring both of your partners on screen at the same time, even if one is knocked out.
They gave Zero even more moves. Zero is comparatively buffed.
It's almost like you're just basing your opinion off of first impressions rather than actually looking into it at all. This game is the most fun I've had since playing UMvC3.
Chun Li? More like, Ug Li
MVCI is a great example of how catering your video games to an autistic manchild community doesn't work out for you. They will betray you at the first opportunity possible.
Capcom could have saved fighting games, it's just that the fgc chose not to be saved.
My main gripe is how they are handling very well loved and wanted additions are being sold on top of the 60 dollar asking price. Once Monster Hunter and Venom drop and a price drop then I might pick it up
you sound retarded
But the autistic manchildren that care entirely over comboboaring and beating the other person like the game more than normal people, who don't like how the game looks.
I think it would be a good move for capcom to do timed free DLC for early adopters.
That way they might actually inject some life into the game with an improved roster while also sucking dollars out of everyone who jumps on late.
Seems like a good business decision, but I'm pretty sure they're not going to miss out on getting all the theoretical dollars they can.
getting rid of shoryuken inputs and mainly marketing a story mode is catering to the fgc? All the ads I saw for mvci were focused on the story mode, and they're only now making character specific trailers featuring gameplay.
But the FGC is the one singing this games praises. That was the point of my original post. It doesn't matter that the game is good and is loved by it's core audience, its not flashy enough to do well.
I know it's superficial but I can't stand the fucking voice acting or music, especially after how great UMvC3's was.
>MVCI is a great example of how catering your video games to an autistic manchild community doesn't work out for you
But the autistic manchild community loves fanservice. And this game lacks fanservice.
...
Doctor Strange has a very small mouth.
...
Xmen vs Street fighter was so easy to make combos and link inputs that every characters has infinite combos. my girl rogue being the worst ofender.
up to Marvel vs Capcom we had sx buttons. 3 punches and 3 kicks you can literally make shit on the fly by mashing on how easy it is to link inputs.
MVC2 that came with the magic series that turned the game into w punchs and 2 kicks and semi automatica combos that would execute the mid normals of the character depending on the which level of the chain you were on the combo.
it was literally more popular than SF because of how much easier it was to play. now kill yourself you underaged faggot
>acting surprised when the mother of fanservice flops for being terrible at fanservice in every possible way
How autistic one gotta be?
but man black widow is such a terrible pick
why not scarlet witch if you need a female mcu avenger
>getting rid of shoryuken inputs
??????????
ryu still has them, and i know a couple other characters do, but more characters lose them in exchange for down down inputs
>l i t e r a l l y endless blockstrings thanks to the tag system
>game becomes a matter of mashing advancing guard and waiting for the other guy to fuck up
It's just not fun.
>pick Haggar/Dante
>"I'm a demon hunter for hire! I'll even give you the mayors discount!"
Dante interacting with others is always the best part.
>all these down down inputs on donte
>MvC:I made me realize that fighting games are very niche, and are probably dying.
>More fighting games now than there were in the MK/SFII clone years of the early 90s
>they aren't shitty clones
okay bro
>>new tag system and gem system
Wrong. MvCI system doesn't give you as many opportunities as the one you can find in UMvC3.
In theory tag-ins should let you create some crazy attack opportunities. For some reason top players use tag-ins mostly to extend and break combos, setups with tag-in usage are really rare in MvCI.
Gem system itself is way less flexible and creative than assists so we can simply skip it.
If MvCI I don't know the numbers and I have no problems with finding online matches is failing it's because of two things:
1. Casuals still remember X-Men - despite what Combofiend says - and aren't really that attached to Avengers and MCU. People may like Iron Man or Dr. Strange but at the same time no one cares about Winter Soldier, Gamorra or Black Widow. They'd rather see Groot, Deadpool or Wolverine
2. Part of old audience - mainly UMvC3 fans - don't like new system so they have decided to vote with the wallet.
3. DBFZ is coming. For long time there was no real alternative to VS series. Finally one is coming. It's appealing to both casuals (DBZ was crazy popular) and MvC2/UMvC3 fans.
>>More fighting games now than there were in the MK/SFII clone years of the early 90s
lolwut
Back in late 90s/early 00s there was like trillion 2d fighting games that are now forgotten.
Is there a source on that sales figure that isn't from the ass of Wall Street Journal? WB never said how much it sold. WSJ is the only source.
Dante had down down inputs before. Plenty of characters did. Explain to me right now what's wrong with down down inputs.
>But the FGC is the one singing this games praises
Top FGC players need this game to succeed so it's obvious they will praise it.
The statues he says are so great have pinkeye.
>Dante had down down inputs before
Dante had one DD input before. And it was teleport. If you're used to playing UMvC3's Dante then MvCI input is fucking disaster.
They should simply let players choose which pattern they want to follow.
This. I mean, there have been more fighting games since 2012 than there were from 2000 to 2009, but the early 90s were FULL of them.
why is that a problem
>make a crossover game
>want the casual audience but fail to deliver a roster they want
>FGC likes the gameplay though
>didnt care about the FGC in the first place because its just 20% of the total audience
>failed to shill marvel movies to casuals
>game wont sell well and is dead on arrival
Gee i wonder where they fucked up
That is one very smug looking dog.
Post source
>no xmen
>not even a wolverine function
no buy
>>not even a wolverine function
black panther is dlc my dude
If you try to go from UMvC3 to MvCI as literally anyone its a disaster because all the inputs are different because ITS A DIFFERENT GAME you baka gaijin.
The correct answer is "down down inputs are bad for wakeup moves specifically because they fuck over crossups by autocorrecting which side it comes out on." that's why everyone was concerned about shoryukens being changed to down down, despite there being plenty of down down inputs in the previous games.
its a gay mobile VN called mystic messenger, dont play it unless you're gay.
I'm still on the fence for this game
Does frank have a similar moveset to MVC3?
How is Ultron
Is Thanos the same as he was in MVC2?
How much offline shit is there to do?
>that fucking DLC
Fucking really?
Cut content:
>Sigma, Black Panther
Shit content:
>Black Panther, Winter Soldier, Black Widow
>Does frank have a similar moveset to MVC3?
He has every move from umvc3 plus a couple of new ones so that he can get to lvl 5 easier.
>How is Ultron
I didn't try him yet but he seems like a monster online.
>Is Thanos the same as he was in MVC2?
He's completely different but so much better now. He has a great move set with a lot of interesting specials
.
>How much offline shit is there to do?
arcade mode, mission, story, and vs cpu
Frank had a very similar moveset because all returning characters from UMvC3 are copypasta. He has a few new moves, and the new switch mechanic lets you get to Lv. 5 insanely fast. Like, hit your opponent with a beam super, switch Frank in, and take all the pics you want.
Ultron is top tier. he goes fast, shoots full screen lasers, and has drone assists.
Thanos is not the same. They gave him a moveset without bubbles.
There's a story mode and arcade and that junk you would expect. I haven't touched it at all because the online is top notch.
Kaijin no MonHun
>because all the inputs are different because ITS A DIFFERENT GAME you baka gaijin
Basically: they've copied specials and for no good reason made input different.
Also: DD takes more time to execute than shortened (F, D, DF) DP.
So it's not in base version of a game.
Plus, BP may turn into some Sabretooth/X23 mix.
Monster Hunter looks terrible in such a triangle dash mixup kind of game.
You just have her do one of her big-ass moves and tag out to someone speedy that opens up
>for no good reason
Dumb niggy, its not light, medium, heavy, and launcher anymore. It's actual punch and kick buttons now. They literally can't copy the specials over exactly, they had to move some of em around, especially for characters like Dante who had moves out the butt.
