The money mostly weed is like a Schedule 1 drug meaning that it is incredibly hard to even get some legally to research federally for instance. The funding to enforce that law is astronomical that many will fight it changing simply based on the fact that they make so much money. Tobacco and alcohol producers hate it as well since its bring is competition to their market places. So way to many people are making way to much money of off the enforcement of its illegality.

Thats why. The problem is that it was hated and misunderstood for so long that that shit in general got super entrenched. It is now hard to change since enough research cant be done on it to either prove or disprove just how safe it is since again its a Schedule 1. And way to many will fight to keep it that way since they would risk many of the ways many have made their fortunes.
