I've been in prison for a while, I think the last AAA game I played was Skyrim though I distinctly remember the last game I ever played through fully was Saints Row 2 (even though it was a while after release).

How is life after prison user? I always figured that if I went to prison mine would be over.
Don't spend money on vidya. Get a job. Convicts have lots of trouble getting work because American post-prison life is fucked up.
But because it ain't my job to tell you how to live your life, here's some shit from different genres.
The 2016 Doom was fucking incredible.
Shadowrun Dragonfall and Divinity Original Sin 1 and 2 are excellent old-school CRPGs.
There are also two new Shantae games and I shit you not, a good Sonic game, Sonic Mania.
VA-11 Hall A is a PC-98 styled cyberpunk VN about bartending. It has waifus.
The current crime sandbox du jour is GTA Online, the multiplayer for GTA5, but Sleeping Dogs is also great. Saints Row shit the bed with 3 and then became a superhero sandbox in 4, but play them anyway.
MGS5 came out and it was great, but incomplete.
Final Fantasy XIV is back and it's good now, with two expansions. Final Fantasy Versus XIII became XV and sucked.
Fallout 4 is out but it's decidedly meh and Bethesda is shitting the bed with a paid-mods scheme that also breaks the game for normal mod users.
That should get you started on the path to ruining your life all over again because you pissed away your money and nobody will hire you.

Oh also this, Nier Automata is a character action game by the Bayonetta guys. They also did Metal Gear Rising, which is crazy and has great music.
Zelda BOTW is a sandbox Zelda game, like Skyrim but you really can climb that mountain, and also lots better.
