It's a fun dumb action movie. Not really worth getting autistic over the plot when it exists for fanservice.

Too much Cloud.

I mean the story was about him, but FF should be about everyone or else you'll have crap like FF13-2 and LR.

Not as bad as people make it out to be. The premise of three young mako infused Sephiroth-clones trying to capture Jenova's remains is pretty nice.

But yes, a bit too much Cloud and transforming-sword shenanigans. At least the final battle is pretty cool.

Lightning was barely in XIII-2. She was a glorified plot device at best.

Why did they make XIII-2 again?

Ironically XIII-2 and LR are the best game of the trilogy and arguably best FF games in 10 years.

Dilly dally, shilly shally.

If you believe either of those are better than Dissidia, Duodecim, Type-0 or XIV, you need serious help. Fuck, even Crisis Core is better and that game is garbage.

The movie that ruined cloud forever

they wanted to use assets that didn't make it into 13 i think.

XIII-2 and LR are both better gameplay-wise than everything you've mentioned.

Dissidia is a dumb fighting game with really basic plot, Type-0 is tabatashit albeit better than XV and XIV is a boring fucking MMO with retarded dodge-that-AoE mechanics and shitty DPS-tank-heal formula.

Like I said, you need serious help.

>has no arguments whatsoever because he's only used to parroting shit he hears on Sup Forums and it's cool to hate on XIII, despite it's universally accepted that XIII-2 and LR improve on it a fucking lot
>resorts to "y-your dumb XD"

>Ironically XIII-2 and LR are the best game of the trilogy
Hard to say. I liked Caius and Noel in XIII-2 but the time-travel shit was dumb and convoluted. I like LR's game structure and combat. The emphasis on sidequests and dress up was nice, but the story is the worst in the trilogy. XIII actually holds up well. The combat is challenging and addictive and the story is the better of all 3.

>arguably best FF games in 10 years
I guess. I haven't play the mmos, but somedays, I wake up liking XII better than XIII. And other days it's the opposite. If anything I think XIII's ost helps place it above XII for me. Also, I think XIII has better characterization than XII. But XII's world is objectively better realized and fleshed out. Fuck idk.

It had only 2 party members which was pathetic as shit, and then after that you have a 1 character FF game.

This.

>check out my arguments: those games are shit lol xD
>why don't you give me counterarguments haha

Get help, kiddo.

Interesting ideas:

>Geostigma
>Omnisword
>keeping Rufus alive
>Bahamut battle

Dumb shit:

>Cloud is suddenly hung up on Aeris AGAIN despite the game showing him overcoming his guilt
>everyone but Cloud and Tifa being worthless cameos
>Sephiroth triplets
>reviving Sephiroth
>cementing the idea that Sephiroth was controlling Jenova and not the other way around, invalidating the purpose of the Reunion
>making the Turks bumbling comic relief
>even more child characters (read: boring)
>taking beautifully orchestrated pieces of music and adding buttrock
>very existence removes the impact of FFVII's ending

Not the guy, but LRXIII is the best game in the franchise and XIII-2 is better than all of those besides the Dissidias. In fact the rest of them are awful.

Complete edition preceded by Code Denzel is pure Kino. Offers interesting insight into what happened to Shinra, Midgar, Edge, and the main cast after the events of the game. Sephiroth coming back from the dead is a huge ass pull but the action scene is pretty dope so its hard to complain.

People who complain about Cloud being "emo" in the movie are retarded. Dude (and his adopted kid) had super cancer, watched his girlfriend and best friend die, killed his hero and failed to prevent his home city being blown up. And yet he STILL doesn't say a singl edgy line in the whole movie. People honestly got butthurt about Cloud looking sullen after he'd been through all that shit?

It was an ok piece of fanservice but some things annoyed me:

>Sephiroth's conciousness split into a gay boyband
>Humanity survived Holy after all. Making FFVII's open ending pointless
>Depressed emo Cloud even though he appeared upbeat in the game
>Cait Sith didn't have his moogle robot anymore
>"I will never be a memory" said Sephiroth. Just in case there would be a sequel

Personally I consider this movie as a standalone product rather than an extention to the plot. The game was great but all these spin-offs are mediocre at best. Last Order anime short was awesome though.

I did provide you with enough arguments that weigh more than your retarded "g-get help" that you keep spouting, child.

We get it, you want to fit in, no need to lash out at people calling you out on it. Type-0 being Tabatashit doesn't require further explanation and XIV/Dissidia are too far removed genre wise to really compare to single player entries, plus both are of questionable quality within their respective genres.

Last Order retconned Sephiroth's death into a willing suicide with tears in his eyes. Fuck that shit.

I like FF7 so much that I actually enjoy Advent Children, Crisis Core and Dirge of Cerberus for the world building and lore. I even went out of my way to read the tie in novellas and play the Japan only phone game.

However, I think that the remake sounds like a huge pile of garbage based on what we've seen so far, and even I'M not looking forward to that shit. Should say a lot.

Ah yes, because when you say a game is shit, it "weighs more" than when someone else does. Very smart. No really, get help, little boy.

the turks were always meant for comic relief
you're list has a lot of things wrong but im way to tired to point them all out

Honestly, if you don't see how XIII-2 and LR are far more polished games than everything you've mentioned combined, you're the one who fucking needs help, you brain damaged fuck.

Complete is worse than the original, the last fucking thing Advent Children needed was more padding and more of this literally who kid.

Kingsglaive was far better

>no u
Ah, those arguments just keep rolling from the boy genius.

the ending of ff7 showed midgar 700 years after the fact. I dont know how you got that idea that the entire world was destroyed

But Sephiroth didn't jump to his death lol. If you paid attention to the game's story you would know that from then on he was traveling the lifestream with Jenova, learning more about the ancients and the planet for the next 5 years.

Mate he's not guilty about it - just melancholic that his friends are dead. I don't know if you've ever had a friend die but that shit sticks with you. The turks were always the Team Rocket of the game and the child characters are made slightly more interesting by the anime OVA and the extended version of the film.

That said, agreed that absolutely everything regarding sephiroth and the lifestream in the film is retarded. It would have been much better if he never showed up in the film at all.

Kingsglaive is absolute trash for me, but maybe thats because I don't care at all about the world of FF15.

I really have to disagree about complete being worse - the story actually makes sense and the added scenes give you way more reason to care about Denzel as a character than in the original.

>Kingsglaive

The only part of that movie that wasn't insufferable was the Kaiju battle.

Advent Children Complete and Ace Attorney are and will always be the only two good video game movies ever made.

I didn't say that 'entire world could be destroyed' I said humanity. Holy is meant to wipe out anything that threatens the planet and people with their dependency on mako energy could have also been considered a threat. And the ending doesn't show any people around. Only ruins of Midgar.

> People honestly got butthurt about Cloud looking sullen after he'd been through all that shit?

Yes, because he was upbeat at the end of VII. He was he most at peace person throughout the FF series at that point, and he himself told everyone to move on from Aerith's death to allow her to be free. He was indominable.

So it's very disappointing to see AC Cloud reverse all of his character development. Furthermore it's achieved through contrived writing, and explicitly done so in order to, as Nomura said it, portray him as fans remembered him even though they were aware it didn't make sense with the endgame. It's all to justify it after the fact. It's artificial.

They also got every other character wrong. I'm still mad at myself for believing and being proud for two years that Tifa had become outspoken about her negative emotions until I realized they just didn't understand her like the rest and just based her tomboyishness on her outfit. Fuck Advent Children.

Nevertheless the worst part of AC is that it set the series towards hell trying to replicate its combat. CC may be more destructive to VII in particular, but this puts AC at an even lower rung for me.

Don't drag down the Ace Attorney movie with that piece of shit

Semantics, retard. That is the actual point where Sephiroth is "killed", in that he is dead to the physical world before reappearing in the Shinra building. The whole point of the flashback in game was to show that Cloud got his vengeance and Sephiroth was not some invincible god (yet). Having him willingly walk away from Cloud and happily leap to his death like he knows exactly how the plot is going to play out makes the scene a billion times less interesting.

His friends are still alive. Cloud is shown with a confident determination after recovering his memory on disc 3. He'd already gotten over all that shit.

Focusing on his guilt over inadvertently causing geostigma by trying to do the right thing would have been a solid idea if you really need to have a depressed, defeated Cloud *again*. But the film is so poorly written and localized that it comes across as cornball.

It's never stated anywhere in the game that Holy will wipe out all of humanity. It just wipes all "threats" on the planet.

Also, if earth could survive meteor blowing up the entire solar system several times I'm pretty sure it could survive Holy. lol

The Compilation as a whole is absolute trash. CC has some high points but everything involving Genesis and Angeal ruin it.

I still stand by the fact that Cloud had every reason to feel a bit down after everything he went through, especially since he was literally dying from the Geostigma. If anything, I think the ways the character developed in the film is extremely realistic. He has accepted Aris's death and moved on with his life, but still thanks about her and Zack from time to time. Not all that often though - there's like 2 scenes with her in the entire film.

I have to agree about the combat though. Whilst it was cool in the film, I wish the games would go back to a more grounded, turn based approach. I vastly prefer the FF7 battle system to the Crisis Core or FF15 systems.

Incorrect.

youtube.com/watch?v=e-aUvOroN0A#t=3m50s

>It's never stated anywhere in the game that Holy will wipe out all of humanity.

Except yes it is. Player discovers the truth about Holy during this scene with Bugenhagen in the City of The Ancients (Disc 2).

It was so detached from the FFVII world, design and aesthetics that it felt like a completely unrelated movie with FFVII cameos

original Advent Children > Advent Children Complete

the shit added to Complete was completely unnecessary

>He'd already gotten over all that shit.
If you honestly think anybody on earth gets over that much shit so quickly, you're wrong. He doesn't even cry about it or anything - he's just not cracking jokes and telling people to "mosey".

I've played the original game in English and Japanese and I can tell you that a lot of what made the characters appealing and endearing was added in the localization. You can't say "lets mosey" in Japanese - all the characters just talk like FF13 era boring, bland cut-outs. You'll see when the remake comes out that most of the characters - especially Cid, Cloud and Barret, are infinitely less interesting with an accurate translation.

>mfw the DILLY DALLY SHILLY SHALLY scene is even worse in Japanese

It really wasn't. I mean, it didn't have the same appeal as the lego men and per-rendered back grounds, but everything was pretty faithful to the source material otherwise.

tifa saying zuru zuru made me all doki doki

>Everything will disappear - PERHAPS even ourselves
>It is up to the planet to decide
>All that is bad will disappear, that is all
Obviously the planet judged humanity as worthy of survival

The actress's delivery makes it sound like she's having a stroke

The whole film is better in Japanese if solely for the fact that the mouths actually match the dialog.

The fight scenes were pretty good. So were some of the comedic scenes. Just ignore the story and you've got an enjoyable movie.

here's the REAL THING people should be knitpicking, the plothole of Cloud being able to ride his motorcycle from Midgar to the Forgotten Capital and back across the ocean.

I'm half tempted to try editing it down down to a 45 minute non-stop action movie.

Why bother? You can see all the clips you want on Youtube.

The dub of that movie is so fucking bad that I honestly wonder whether all the people who hate the film only watched it in English.

Off topic, why is English voice acting in JRPGs still so fucking bad? Games like the Last of Us, the Walking Dead, The Witcher etc all have pretty decent voice acting, but games like FF15 and the Tales games still sound like something out of the early PS2 era.

Not at all obvious from the ending. Humans don't abandon good machinery or living accommodations like that. The laughing can be the Planet, who is a child, whose agonized cries we hear throughout the game. It's plain ambiguous.

You could get the same effect by just skipping to the half way point of the film. The first half is all story set-up and then the last 40 minutes is just one extremely drawn out action sequence. Like the Matrix Reloaded.

Sephiroth was always intended to be the one controlling her. It was probably less clear in our awful translation.

I agree on a lot of it though. Undoing so much of cloud's development was fucking stupid.

Something to do with the scripts being translated from Japanese to English and VA's recording in separate booths, so it never sounds natural and more like they are literally hitting ques and reading a script.

Probably just took a boat or an airship. Hell, they could have even built a bridge/tunnel across the channel in the meantime.

>end of FFVII
Coud is finally confident, self-aware of himself and finally ekmbraces Tifa and his friends.

>FFVII Air Conditioner
Cloud is emo git.

>they could have even built a bridge/tunnel across the channel in the meantime.

That would be like a bridge connecting the U.S. and U.K.

i'm wondering if the remake will have an extra episode with advent children's story added to it.

optional of course.

I really don't think FF15 sounds that bad. I think I liked the english more than the japanese.

As for why it was so bad in FFX days it's because square insisted they line the dialogue up with the lip flaps. You can hear a bunch of points where they go chipmunky to keep up or talk really slow.

Nips communicate like insectoid emotionless robots. This is difficult to localize without your characters sounding like insectoid emotionless robots.

I always assumed that the reason cloud lost his positivity was because he felt weak and helpless after overcoming his personal demons to be cursed with super cancer.

he was no longer in control of his fate, and that made him a sad :(

Japan VAs are recorded differently to American VAs. Plus Voice Acting over there is held in a much higher regard as opposed to the West where it's basically seen as bottom rung.

I'm a professional translator and translating from Japanese to English doesn't have to sound like shit - it's just that people often make translations too ridged. Like, in the translation of persona 5, every time the characters say "ne" at the end of the sentence, the English version has the characters ask "hey?", which just ends up sounding unnatural. This could easily be fixed by just leaving that out or re-framing the sentence.

Why would they record in separate booths for the dubs of Japanese games, but not Western games?

not to mention any other race that can speak, which is practically everything in the game

could've been some magic pots sharing an elixir for all we know

I want the remake to have:
>a beginning that takes place a little before the reactor, Like Cloud reaching Midgar or something.
>have a longer ending, show what the gang did after, Cloud Tifa kiss, etc.

>Save planet rewarded with an incurable sickness
>adopts an orphan, suffers the same fate as him
>Looks for a cure only for it to be a waste of time

I'd be depressed to.

Jap sounded way better. I switched immediately after I heard Gladio and Prompto's dialogue in English.

You skip over the part where he probably developed PTSD or the FFVII equivalent after settling down. Plus the fact that he developed Jenova AIDS.

Everyone is okay in 15 except for Noctis, who just sounds abysmal.

Should have just hired Canadians and made them say Eh. That would sound totally natural.

>Cloud reaching Midgar or something.

But that would spoil the plot.

Jap prompto has that weinery jap voice that I hate, and their gladio doesn't sound right for a guy that big.

>Dilly dally, shilly shally.
What did Tifa mean by this?

I'm not asking why English VAs are worse than Japanese VAs - I''m asking why English dubs of western games are better than English dubs of Japanese games, particularly anime games or JRPGs.

>Cloud Tifa kiss
>not a sex minigame under the highwind
baka

Believe it or not, no Canadian ever says "Eh" unironically.

I'm a Canadian and I say it all the time, that's why I suggested it. Southwestern Ontario. Out west they all say Hey instead and it sounds fucking weird.

>black tifa
Huh... Well that's interesting.

What? Gladio sounds perfect in Jap. It suits him so well, especially when he gets angry. Engrish Gladio sounds abysmal. Seriously. Sounds so forced and unnatural. Prompto sounds annoying in both, but more bearable to me in Jap. In Enlgish, it sounds like a shitty 4Kids dub.

Just wait. You'll flip your opinion when the next Final Fantasy film hits

im Canadian that lives in ontario and we say"eh" sometimes as a joke, was in a bar not long ago and some dude was saying "eh" after every other sentence and was getting weird looks from everyone in the place

my nigga, I live in Canada and I've never heard it unironically in a conversation. Maybe they did it in the past, like 30 years ago, but now you couldn't tell a Canadian from a Northern American.

You're being biased. 15 was good

Because it is the only good XIII game.

I grew up rural, I don't say it every sentence, but to say we never say it unironically is not my experience. Usually at the end of a question. Where I grew up people talk like they do in Letterkenny if you've ever seen that, that guy grew up fairly close to my home town.

I want the remake to have
>In game optional world building areas like a museum, detailing the events of the wu tai war and other in universe historical events
>Explorable midgar with Yakuza style side activities showing how people there live their lives
>Optional side quests that show what happened Shuriken, and the rest of the turks who went into hiding
>Visit-able Modeoheim and other towns that weren't in the original game as side content
>hidden cut scenes hinting at Hojo's experiments with digitizing the human mind and the way in which people live on in the life stream
>Watchable LOVELESS
Just generally, I want a lot of unobtrusive side content to flesh out the world and tie the spin offs together a bit so that they dont just feel tacked on. Alas, I'm sure we won't get any of this and that the game will answer way more questions than it answers.

The only really bad thing about this movie is that it saddled Cloud with the whole emo schtick even though he gets over that shit like halfway through the movie. It's not just that he's bummed out about Aeris dying, he's also still upset about Zach dying and the fact that he can't find a cure for Denzel AND on top of that he caught the lifestream aids himself. He feels like he can't save anybody the way he is so he says fuck it.

But the way he gets over his emoness is fucking godlike, literally one converstaion with Vincent that made him realize, "Oh shit, I'm turning into cuck ass Vincent Valentine, FUCK THAT!" was enough for him to get his shit together again. Only brainlets hate this movie.

Might just be where you live.

It's as if a long period of time after the adrenaline wears from nearly dieing, being pushed into a mundane delivery job after such a grand adventure AND planet aids makes you not feel good or somthing
Hmmmm
HMMMMM

I disagree but it's too subjective to really have a conversation about.
