Are there ANY good MMOs currently out?

What about guild wars 2 I heard it improved a good amount since launch. And there's a new expansion coming out soon. Is it still the garbage it was at launch?

the game is fucking awful and boring
I really wish I could enjoy it
I can't

>Tera Online
Good 1-60. Fun battle system, fun races, fun gear that looks unique per race/gender. 60-65+ all the armor looks samey because that's when they start focusing on cash shop costumes.

>FFXIV
Good 1-50, 51-60, 61-70.
Good story with giant gaps of filler between each level cap. The endgame right now is 2 Primal bosses, 3 lame dungeons, 4 easy modes and 4 hard mode boss fight "raids" You'll probably enjoy the game but get bored a month into 70.

>BDO
Fun character creator and combat. Grindy as hell and all the cool armor comes from the cash shop as costumes.

>Wildstar
Cartoony with a weak character creator but a fun story, amazing housing system and hardcore endgame. Low player base but worth trying atleast.

>GW2
I got to 45 before I dropped it, mainly because all the armor looks samey and low quality. It might improve at endgame. Otherwise its a polished game with an OK battle system.

>WoW
Just let this one die so the genre can move on please.

I was play XIV but I can no longer run it on my laptop.

So basically there's nothing good?
I was playing Elysium but I cannot deal with a 14 year old game anymore.

How is ESO I've heard some suprisingly good things about it

GW2 player here, ESO felt super clunky to me, it felt like playing a TES game without mods and the timegated progression of a MMO, I hated it.

Rust

to be fair, the ESO userbase is the only online community where triple digit pings are deemed normal and accepted. the users animation cancel to make up for the clunky-ness of combat.

gw2 is a snorefest to be blunt, and honest.

>playing for character's visual appearances
dafuk

besides the WoW one, im surprised how unbiased this post is.

If you're going to try GW2, then I'd recommend trying the jumping puzzles/fractals, because that's where I had the most fun. Dry Top was my favorite area.

Any scourge players in here assblated about nerfs before xpac release?

We all saw them coming, people are overreacting, we'll see how bad it is tomorrow.

GW2 has some good things going for it, the story improved very slightly. Although instead of the blandest of salads possible who dies at the end of Heart of Thorn's main campaign, on top of that: zoja is possibly brain-damaged or insane,
logan thackery is in recovery until late living story, caithe is in the penalty box I guess?
Eir dies at the end of act one with some questionable animation? I thought the animation quality was fine...

anyways it's revealed that killing elder dragons has some consequences as follows:

1. Kill one and the others start absorbing its energies with varrying effects, such as Mordremoth's soldiers becoming far more sapient and being able to utilize the dead in his army.

2. Killing dragons disrupts the world's magic in excitingly terrible ways. Like ripping the very world into confetti.

Which leads to the end of LS3, where we're fighting Balthazar for some reason because he wants to absorb all of the dragon power for himself. Jormag and Primordus are out of his reach thanks to us, but that leaves bubbles and krakaltorik, who is in Elona.

Other than that, several revamps to the game have been made, such as (moderately) improved itemization, more build diversity since launch, and based on some long time veterans as much as the original game. Although there's always room for improvement.

PvP has had its rewards revamped multiple times, but it's in an alright place now, but the system could potentially be abused by people who just want to AFK or some shit...

God Wildstar was such a good concept executed so poorly.

Best leveling experience I've had in a mmo. Best group pve content as well

haven't seen em yet, what's the big takeaway?

what's happening?

It's still garbage, don't listen to GW2 apologists, the game is shit and its existence alone is an insult to the legacy GW1 left behind.

>no endgame beyond dressing up your characters and spending real world cash on paid crap
>story is uninteresting
>story characters are fucking awful, with such relatable characters as: token black guy, genius asura who always comes up with a solution to forward the plot, token charr and a lesbian couple of two characters devoid of personality shoehorned in to please the LGBT people
>pvp is boring since everyone runs the same few builds
>wvw is a sad joke, everyone just transfers to the winning server while everyone else gets stomped with no chances of winning
>pve is a fucking snoozefest
>crafting legendaries is a fucking chinese rice picker simulator
>raids are full of elitist babies who like to pretend raids are actually hard in this babby mode game

Grind Wars 2 is a joke
Don't waste any more of your money on it like I did, I don't even fucking know why I pre-ordered Path of Fire. I guess I just really want to see how much they fucked up old Nightfall maps. Locations from GW1 present in GW2 are hardly even fucking recognizable, so I don't have high hopes for this expac.

No more large group harming with the skills among other things.

RuneScape is still a solid game, both RuneScape 3 and Oldschool. The questing and lore is pretty damn good in RS3, though PVP content is fairly dead.

THE GAME IS FREE YOU DUMB NIGGER SO GO INSTALL IT AND TRY IT FOR YOURSELF

no one cares about gw1

en-forum.guildwars2.com/discussion/2703/scourge-specialization-updates-for-the-path-of-fire-launch

thread reminder. people are paid on this site to say gw2 is bad.

Wildstar is really one of the most underrated MMOs that didn't deserve it's literal choking to be quite honest. If the game dies, we probably won't see another MMO who took risks like it did for decades to come.

youtube.com/watch?v=8t2RlcOTxDc

>Best PvE dungeon/raiding a MMO has ever released.
>Game's combat makes the PvP more intuitive with AOEs but died because the players are just in it for the amazing PvE.
>Best endgame
>Best housing
>Story and universe lore is pretty good but it's entirely forgotten and overlooked since the developers made the stupid decision to make the lore hidden through hidden throughout the planet or in hidden codexes, or only obtainable by specific profession and only by that profession "Science or Adventurer". Nobody has fucking time for that nonsense.
>Best F2P where you can even pay for your membership/subscription with ingame currency.
>Game gets shitted on for the inbetween leveling.

I just weep at what Wildstar could have become today with a relatively good population. The future content, the future updates. It's a disgrace on the MMO community's part.

I still play Guild Wars 1 :) such a unique game even all these years later.

I also spent 10 years of my life playing Tibia.

>every criticism the game gets must be paid

why can't they separate balance for wvw and the other modes?

Try "Blade and Soul". Combat system is great.

>I still play Guild Wars 1

wanna party up and party hard? EU here

they CAN. but they wont. Which ever balance team did scourge decided to nerf the entire class in favor for WvW which is usually forgotten by anet.

I think you're blaming the wrong party. It's the dev's fault, to be honest.

I have been playing MMO's in a "Hardcore PVE" capacity for many years; world competitive raiding, racing for boss kills etc.

Wildstar never made it onto my radar or other people's largely because it advertised itself as a casual pet-fest but was actually designed as a hardcore PVE MMO.

This crisis of identity is what failed the game; heavily advertised at children and ultra-casuals, but had nothing to offer them. The game itself was designed to be played at a semi-hardcore or hardcore pace. Yet each advertisement (especially before release) and every patch was aimed at entertaining casuals and "I WANT MORE HATS" audience.

It was a striking thing to watch. My guild at the time actually decided to check it out post-release after hearing on the grapevine it was pretty good and challenging PVE content, but by the time we had, it had already collapsed and was having serious troubles.

Don't blame the MMO community.
Blame the identity crisis created by the developers.

PVE and PVP get separate balance changes. Wvw is just PVE with pvp in it, so they don't make it different from pve balances.

add me Sir Ceranthus

im on here and there just doing zaishen/vq's/title hunting etc

im in the gwam alliance its pretty big these days

If you buy Gw1 do you still get hall of monument points for the gw2 rewards? I want to get into the lore a bit more and the original games i heard do a good job.

You do.

beats me ive never played 2, nor do i go for HoM stuff much

i can't seem to add you m8

Fuck em.
Everyone knew that them and the holosmith was too OP in the beta weekends.

Silver Dragonlancer, Oni Mastermind, Ceranthor the Great, Sir Ceranthus

those are all my chars on gw1 idk why it wouldnt let ya add me lol

>The only good part of WildStar
youtube.com/watch?v=yzz9t5TLZ5E

oh nvm it just shows you as offline and I'm a bit drunk.

the lore doesn't matter since gw2 shits all over it, but yes you can still get HOM points by playing gw1

don't expect it to be easy though

GW2 is the least bad, don't listen to Sup Forums just download the base game and try it, it's free. If you like it buy PoF.

You don't see people defending the game very often because the GW2 community is a silent majority that doesn't waste time on forums defending the game against all those outdated infos and lies people tell about it. They learned it was useless in GW1's era.

Holosmith didnt recieve as harsh of nerfs that people thought. Just a few PvP specific nerfs. And also the whole "holoforge disregards your stats for fine items"

I hate the core of guild wars 2 especially the hearts. But I really enjoyed the expansion and season 3 was absolutely great.
I tried PoF demo and the mounts implementation is definitely better than in any mmo on the market( they have their mass and this gives them unique feeling).
Generally I won't recommend the core game to anyone(so the f2p part) but I can recommend everything after expansion anouncment so (season 2 mediocre, hot ok, season 3 great).

>I hate the core of guild wars 2 especially the hearts
really
thought it was a far better alternative to cycling quest hubs typical to mmos

they're just generic sidequests with the middleman (questgiver) cut out

nothing special, making them mandatory for map completion was a terrible idea though

well everyone has their own opinion. I always felt that they don't have much story behind them this is why I prefer HoT meta-events.

which is STILL fuckin stupid, 5 years later

>the GW2 community is a silent majority that doesn't waste time on forums
but they do. they go to the forum, talk about how bad the game is, get hit with infractions almost immediately upon submitting post, the post gets removed and they are dumbfounded on what the fuck just happened.

Damn shame hearts came back in season 3 and POF AND you're forced to redo them over and over to do various bits of progression.

gw2 forum moderators are basically demons in disguise. People complain all the time on the subreddit example, recent scourge balances.

the subreddit is basically one place where they don't have power over but still participate in due to sheer size

>draconis mons
>have to do all hearts on the map every day for over two weeks to get an ascended backpack
>tfw there are people on the gw2 subreddit who claim this is a great idea and not at all a chore
>having to do hearts every day for long periods of time is now a core gameplay element

silent majority at work

can I get in on this? Been playing since 2005. ign: Taking Over

>20% total damage nerf in PvP
>not harsh
It was expected and deserved but you can't say it's a small nerf.

Less than a day left before I can ride my raptor again.

Falling to the mount's death and not the players is such a good addition. Too bad it makes you unable to glide if you hit a wall mid-fall and the mount dies before you hit the ground. Or maybe the one time I did it I just tried it wrong and you can actually do it.

They said gliding would be breaking the game to much especially while riding springer (the rabbit).

Fair enough, I suppose. I always forget about that dumb rabbit.

I have at least 7000 hours invested in Guild Wars 2. I don't understand the flak ITT and this board. GW2 is fun at the endgame because of World vs World. You all probably have never been in a Tier 1 World vs World fight.

>WvW
its a fucking zergfest.
one fag tags up, 600 chase the tag and zerg an objective. rinse, repeat till friday reset.

>forced to run vitality gear to make full use of new mechanics

It's shit

>zerging up

That's where you're wrong, kiddo. 15 people can kill a hundred.

youtube.com/watch?v=Yic_75Dj9P0

>triple digit pings
so this is normal? it isn't just me? every other MMO i play has a max of around 80ms, but my ping fluctuates between 100-150ms on ESO

>recording a video like this with effect LOD turned off

Wow, can't see shit

>Zergfest and tag

Fuk off

>You don't see people defending the game very often
Do you even look at the official Forums?
Majority of the time people have valid complaints yet its always the same cocksuckers that defend ANET at every turn talking shit to the OP causing the Devs to come in and ban(OP)/erase the thread since it gets "derailed".
this

Literally unreadable.

wtf is even going on?
looks like a huge fucking zergfest.

yes, even if from the states. their servers are shit and pray to fucking god that they take the time to restart them. if there is no restart on a monday, by friday the game is all fucked up.

Cry harder filthy casuals. WvW is not for the weak. Bet you've never played EVE Online too.

youtube.com/watch?v=gAbfcEs4IDs

Seconding this.
It's about time the casuals get weeded the fuck out.

i have played eve and perpetuum as well.
both zergfest games. try again.

I'm in tier 2 right now and it's absolute dogshit, it's literally like said. My world was tier 1 a few times against JQ and Blackgate, JQ is literally the biggest cancer server in the game, 24/7 huge zerg full of randoms led by some idiot who probably hasn't bathed in a month, wew lad, tier 1 well deserved

WvW is only fun if you're simple minded enough that the carrot on a stick in the form of rank up rewards and legendary backpack can keep you going, otherwise it's completely pointless

That's precisely what he meant by you've never been in a tier 1 fight, I understand your point if you've never been on your server's TS either but the zergfest looking aspect of the the game mode changes completely once you start playing it seriously.

Your builds are definitely trash and I bet you don't have a decent guild that can cooperate synergy.

>ignoring the roamers
>ignoring small group fun
>ignoring gvg
>wahh its all zergs because I can't stop walking towards the commander tags and following!!!
I honestly wish you shitters would just quit already. Community doesn't need you.

that makes me feel slightly better about my connection then. on WildStar, my ping is around 60-80ms

>I don't even fucking know why I pre-ordered Path of Fire.
You're just like all the rest of us. You know it's a bad game but you keep playing anyway.

Who /ready for tomorrow/ Here?

I can see how the scourge target reduction was necessary to prevent them annihilating zergs in wvw, but it's going to suck shit for pulling in packs of enemies in pve or tagging events

Red is enemies, blue/green is friends, their group of 15-20 people is running in on groups of 50 and dropping the new warrior ult which strips buffs in a huge aoe, the big golden bubbles. The problem is they don't have the graphical option that reduces effect clutter from other players turned on, so all the aoes people are putting down stack up and glow like the sun.

I've never been against JQ but they can't be as bad as blackgate. Cancer faggots suck any fun that can be had out of that game mode because they care more about "winning" then having good fights and getting loot.

>tmw still no cantha
WHEN WILL WE GET CANTHAN FACES FOR OUR WAIFUS AND HUSBANDOS!?

>guild wars 2
>builds
OH MYFUCKINSIDES HAAAHAA

> I bet you don't have a decent guild that can cooperate synergy.
why just one when you can be in FIVE!

Struggling to decide what character I'm gonna take through the story first. Probably going to drop my necro since the scourge changes seem like shit, and now I'm deliberating between Weaver, Mirage, and Firebrand.

What ever happened to Spiral Knights? Is that game's servers even running anymore?

Firebrand is guaranteed meta, it's a burning class, how could it be not.

Oh fuck off, Wildstar deserved to fail. I have never seen such dev-worship, arrogance and smugness for such a meme-souting lolsorandumbxDDD pile of shit in my life. Everyone who was part of this garbage, devs, beta testers and the god aweful community that has been built around this should be exterminated for the good of humanity.

You're one of those shitty complainers who only use one type of build, most likely pure Berserkers glasscannon pussies.

i hated playing my ele in every single story release
so i advocate against weaver
firebrand sounds nice

there's nothing wrong with multiple guilds
wowfags really need to get over this idea of a guild they devote their entire life to

It's in a stasis, no new conent but it's still there and will be here for next 10 years because of random steam users that try it.

gw2 is genuinely the worst piece of shit i have ever played

play more games in that case boi
>fighting over node resources
STILL A THING IN OTHER MMOS
K E K

Nice hyperbole, bruv.

>gay wars poo drones type like fucking cavemen
fags

English pls Bob "xivkun" Miller.

>Don't have an argument of brains
>better call em a fag
>got em!

nigger cuck

No endgame, focuses around world content and story missions. You could do fractals(mythic+ dungeon equivilant except you need to stack +redundance stat(agony resistance) to do higher tiers) as endgame but thats like saying WoWs dungeons are enough endgame.

The combat doesn't feel that great and after you realize how little customization there is to do with your character it starts to feel extremely shallow. They're like kind of complex moba characters in terms of gameplay complexity. If thats your thing then thats okay too.

PVP is the only fun activity and its imbalanced and boring unless you find a guild to do WvW with.

Professions seem like they were slapped on as obligatory MMO tropes and have no purpose other than to craft your high level gear. There isn't much you can make to make a profit.

Its a chill MMO for the most part, the expansion areas are a bit too dense with group content to solo comfortably. Too many seeking projectiles and abilities disable your ability to solo through pure skill alone unless you spec fully into defensive abilities and even then theres likely to be times where there was nothing you could do to stop it. Thankfully there is no sub fee so there are usually enough shitters around to draw aggro from some of them while you clean house, just expect to wait for others to clear some world events.

>PVP is the only fun activity and its imbalanced and boring unless you find a guild to do WvW with.
I think this was supposed to be two separate points or you meant PvP instead of WvW.

Just shitting out gold, keep going champ.
