Can somebody explain to me why morrowind is considered the best elder scrolls game? Skyrim fag here, never played any of the others but I've watched in game footage of oblivion and morrowind and they look like shit, especially oblivion surprisingly, those faces, Jesus....

Its 15 years old... What did you expect?
If you only care about graphics, then why even bother asking?
It has the best lore/writing of the last 3 games along with the most player freedom, and since all of them have pretty shit gameplay it will last the longest in people's minds.
Really? You're going to make a MUH GRAPHICS argument? Skyrim wasn't exactly stellar looking at release.
>Skyrim fag here, never played any of the others
>they look like shit
the absolute state of nu-Sup Forums
Get the fuck out.
...
It's the best from a RPG point of view.
The abilities combine nicely and offer lots of freedom.
Story choices have real consequences.
No fast travel so the world feels large.
Cities are much larger.
Locations and enemies are more imaginative than typical western fantasy tropes.
because it was the peak of /ourguy's/ career
>no fast travel
Somebody never played the game.
Morrowind dosen't have fast travel you absolute doof.
>Can somebody explain to me why morrowind is considered the best elder scrolls game?
It's the most fun and interesting one until they'll release Clockwork City in a few weeks
Op here, I don't only care about graphics but the gameplay looks worse too. In skyrim the combat is realistic, in morrowind you just miss things over and over even if you are standing face to face.
What are boats and stilt striders you fucking idiot? Slow travel?
>In skyrim the combat is realistic
...
Also scrolls, mage guild teleportation, and mark/recall spells.
>this kills the morrofag
>In skyrim the combat is realistic, in morrowind you just miss things over and over even if you are standing face to face.
Yes, because in Morrowind if you want to hit things, you have to have a good ability in whatever weapon you're using and not be tired either, instead of Skyrim's "you can do everything with every character :)))))))))".
Name one TES that have realistic combat
I meant that you couldn't just fast travel at any time from any place like in Oblivion or Skyrim.
We'll compose your thoughts before you start calling people names and it will save you some embarrassing moments in the future.
I already did, skyrim.
Shit bait get a life OP
>shit dude, you got 0 stam
Morrowind has classic RPG mechanics where your character's skills decide the outcome of events rather than your own direct input.
I've never trained with a sword in real life, I could definitely hit someone with a sword standing two feet in front of me. If I continued to hit people regularly I would get better with the sword and be able to do better moves, just like in skyrim when you level two handed and earn perks. Sound like skyrim is the more realistic combat, huh kid?
don't listen to the shills OP morrowind is terrible
youtube.com
CRPGs in general have terrible combat, JRPGs' turn based combat it's a better solution to emulate D&D-style stat base dice roll combat than this
>J"""RPGS"""
It's impossible for a skyfag to understand true roleplaying. Just accept the fact that you'll always be blind.
Pleb = Skyrim
Contrarian = Morrowind
Patrician = Oblivion
>Pleb = Skyrim
>Contrarian = Morrowind
>Mongoloid Pedophile = Oblivion
ftfyfoc
Stronghold teleports were my favorite, don't you dare sleep on them, boy
Skyrim is under no circumstance realistic
So just hitting people occasionally would teach you new moves?
True roleplaying? Sounds like you spent so many hours reading repetitive walls of texts and getting killed by mudcrabs that you forgot how to use your imagination. Not an issue in skyrim. You should give it a try.
roelplaying in skyrim? surely you don't mean the 5 or so quest"lines" that have 3-4 quests each?
Morrowind can be best summed up as MISS MISS MISS MISS MISS MISS MISS MISS MISS MISS MISS MISS MISS MISS MISS MISS MISS MISS MISS MISS
DON'T FALL FOR MORROWFAG LIES
>"Help, i never leveled any of my weapon stats past level 30, now i can't hit anything."
If you swing a sword at a monster, chances are you are going to miss unless you are skilled at swinging that sword.
What the fuck are you even talking about?
>you forgot how to use your imagination.
>Not an issue in skyrim.
What are you trying to say? Are you seriously saying Skyrim is comparable to tabletop D&D?
I don't get the whole oblivion faces hate, i never found them too ugly to look at them and if you're a sliderfag you can make a decent looking character, also, they were great at portraying emotion and you could guess the race at the first glance.
You must be very tolerant. I love 2004-era gaming and even i think those faces look like potatoes that were left in the cellar too long.
more like "make sure you rest before every encounter otherwise you'll miss miss miss miss"
the actually shit part about the combat is the stamina loss for running, fix that and it's really not a problem
If I want to not get fucked by Morrowind combat, what do?
I made a dunner atronach mage because I'm a cheating little bitch but are there any good starts for melee? Stealrh seems like it's not worth the butthurt.
And is it like Oblivion where you gimp yourself by taking your most used skills as favored ones? Does it matter as much without the level scaling?
Anyone playing multiplayer mod?
How would you balance Morrowind so that you would not be able to get OP in 5 minutes on any server you join?
>And is it like Oblivion where you gimp yourself by taking your most used skills as favored ones?
No.
>balance Morrowind
Sorry familam, you're thinking about this in entirely the wrong way.
>In skyrim the combat is realistic
what would be the right way to think about it?
The point of Morrowind is to break it and become a god
Well thank fuck for that.
I thought it's always the main goal
Dank meme, I give it 10/10 meme points
>look like shit
>implying that's a valid argument
Make a combat skill a major, if you don't know what to steal to get some coin for training to 40 then you need something around that level to start off. A redguard with longsword as a major can start off with 50 weapon skill which is more than enough to kill any enemy in the game and the only drawback is that you are a nigger.
The Atronach is a good sign for anyone as the 50% spell absorb arguably helps even more in melee since you have to take spells in the face. No other sign really helps that much.
What about Arena and Daggerfall?
Oblivion is better because Skyrim is worse.
Fast travel isn't defined how you think it is obviously
Why do I die to the first fucking ant I encounter then?
Morrowind had the most freedom, best lore and writing, and had RPG elements.
Skyrim was dumbed down to the point that it's barely an RPG anymore.
Well, shit, this is a troll thread after all.
Slit strider
>morrowind thread
>complains how all the other games are dumbed down in comparison
>never refers to daggerfall->morrowind
>Skyrim fag here, never played any of the others but I've watched in game footage of oblivion and morrowind and they look like shit,
A skyrim fan complaining that a game looks like shit?
It's like a boxe fan complaining about violence in MMA
Morrowind >= Oblivion > Daggerfall >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Skyrim
Arena isn't relevant.
Enjoy the truth.
>Skyrim above Oblivion as the "THIS ONE IS TRUE!!!" option
You're funny
>namefag posting anything
Hilarious familam.
oblivion was extremely dumbed down but at least skyrim was more polished at being a console rpg.
>console rpg
I've never played any Elder Scrolls(or Fallout) games on consoles, it would just be so wrong.(Not to mention no mods, or very limited mods in the PS4 case.)
Xbox has more and better mods than playshit4.
I've tried to love Daggerfall, but I can't get past the interface. I say this as someone who has racked up hundreds of hours in Dwarf Fortress and other roguelikes. Early 3d before we figured out mouselook + wasd is pretty rough.
And PC has better mods than both shit stains.
Oblivion is shit and had just as many "fetch x from high elf mausoleum" quests as Skyrim does with muh draugr
There were a few treasure hunting quests specifically made to be like that, but even then there were twists like someone coming to take what you stole.
It's nowhere as large of a fraction of the total number of side quests compared to Skyrim, and Morrowind's side quests weren't different. This isn't even getting into the cancer that is the Radiant Quest system.

Watch this OP, it goes over it pretty well.
Because you suck.
Can we all agree that dagoth ur is the best villain of all the games? Can we also all agree that Todd Howard should kill him self for ruining the elder scrolls series to cater to the casuals? Like and share if you agree!
>Dagoth Ur
>villain
Tribunalfags are the worst.
Don't worry about, it's not a good game.
...
Modern TES was made for consoles.
You guys do realize TES games always had "Kill X from dungeon Y" type of ""quests"" where, Morrowind and Daggerfall included?
The UI makes it pretty obvious Morrowind wasn't, despite what that marketing image says.
It's half Skyrim half Mount and Blade with Undertale happening offscreen in the background and a fanbase only half as autistic
It isn't but you can see how a lot of people would say it is.
... Who actually says that you need to be high to enjoy Morrowind?
>It's half Skyrim half Mount and Blade with Undertale happening offscreen in the background and a fanbase only half as autistic
Weak bait
>It's half Skyrim half Mount and Blade with Undertale happening offscreen in the background and a fanbase only half as autistic
>"look_away__nerevarine__clean"
>what is... the unclean version?
>find it with the url code d7an12v
>"this is a clean version with no pee"
oh
but why
Not true at all. Say you're using the wrong stance or using the sword wrong completely, and you keep doing that continually, you simply won't get better with a sword and you certainly won't be able to learn better moves. Sounds like you have no idea what you're talking, huh kid?
